My Choice - Past - For this one:
One of you will choose a book rooted in the Past — historical fiction, historical fantasy, period pieces, or any story set in a time before now
Book - When the Stars Go Dark
Author - Paula McLain
Date Read - 8/13/25
This is historical fiction set in 1993 (I still have a hard time believing that 1993 is considered historical fiction.) Our MC, Anna is a missing persons detective. A lot of what makes Anna the person that she is stems from her past trauma as a child. She is very much a very flawed character despite all the work that she puts into her cases. She tries to make up for what she believes are personal failings in her life. If she puts everything that she can into solving her cases she doesn't have to work on herself or any of her relationships.
If you need more info to form a stitch, let me know.

This book is MPG science fiction fantasy.
Book: One Good Knightby Mercedes Lackey

🧩 Prompt #2: Burn It Down / Build It Up
Type: Split Prompt
What this means:
This is a Split Prompt, so each of you will choose one half of the prompt to interpret in your own way. You're reading different books, but they should both reflect transformation — through destruction or creation.
For this one:
Burn It Down might mean rebellion, revenge, breaking free, tearing down systems, or choosing chaos.
Build It Up could be about healing, starting over, creating something new, or rebuilding after loss.
📌 Once you’ve both finished reading, post your Story Stitch (your connection blurb) in the Check-In Thread to unlock your next prompt.
There’s more than one way to light a match — or lay a foundation. 🔥🧱

Book - The Haunted by Danielle Vega
Date Read - 9/3/25
Hendricks is a high school student who has just recently moved 4 hrs away from her hometown of Philadelphia, Pa to a small town in upstate New York. This move was brought on to get her away from her possessive stalker of an ex boyfriend. The problem is that they moved into an old house that has a terrible history and is haunted by several ghosts. Hendricks still thinks she is in love with her ex, but she is only in love with the idea of being in love and the way he made her feel in the beginning of the relationship. She eventually figures out that what they had was not love at all and that helps her break free of the psychological hold that he had on her. Oh and the ghosts burn her house down. So there was literal burning things down.

My choice: Build It Up

🧩 Prompt #7: Order & Chaos
Type: Mirror Prompt
What this means:
This is a Mirror Prompt, so you and your partner will both work from the same theme — but take opposite approaches.
For this one:
One of you picks Order — a book where structure, control, tradition, or routine plays a central role. Think carefully planned systems, disciplined characters, or tidy resolutions.
The other picks Chaos — a book where things spiral, shift rapidly, or resist control. Think upheaval, unpredictable twists, or characters who reject the rules.
📌 Once you’ve both finished reading, post your Story Stitch (your connection blurb) in the Check-In Thread to unlock your next prompt.
Some stories follow the rules — others set them on fire. 🗂️🔥

Book/Author - Don't Look by Molly Black
Date Read - 9/8/25
Order fits the main characteristic of our MC, Taylor Sage. Taylor is an FBI agent. She is focused, intelligent, she believes in protecting citizens at all cost. In this book she was hunting a serial killer. She barely slept, she insisted that those who were helping solve the case be available at all times. She is rigid, strict, and goes by the book.
