I didn't see a thread for this mod pick yet so figured I'd add it. I picked this one up since it was on sale on Kindle, and I'm planning to get to it in August. Anyone else planning to read this one?

I've just started this one, read the first chapter. It's multiple POVs but the first chapter's POV, Enae, is working well for me, and I am enjoying the author's writing style. This is the first book I've read by this author so a promising start.

Lindsey, have you read the other books in the series? I felt like I missed a lot by not having read the other books besides the first 8 years ago. Maybe I don't care for the style?

Leckie does have an odd style. I DNF'd Ancillary Justice but ended up liking the one about the rock.

I haven't read any of her other books, this is my first. But I can certainly see how her style wouldn't work for everyone, it's different. I've read a couple more chapters and now I'm kind of disturbed, lol. The other POVs are definitely a bit disturbing/off-putting. We'll see how it goes. So far I think I'm ok not having read the other books in the series as this one is set in the same world but doesn't have the same characters. Depending on how much I like it in the end I may go back and read the others. It will probably depend on whether I end up being able to connect with Qven and Reet. I'm not entirely clear at this point, are they (view spoiler)[ alien species? Androids or robots with human parts? Clones? Why do they want to take everyone apart?? Yeah, creepy. (hide spoiler)]

I'm about halfway done with this one now, it's just so weird, lol.

Just finished this one. Overall I think it was well-done, different from what I usually read. I liked it as a whole, but I am not sure whether or not I'll read other books by the author in the future. I don't read much sci-fi, and the alien aspects of some of the characters (view spoiler)[ (the whole matching process of dissolving into an amorphous blob of goo, enjoying eating each other and cutting each other into pieces...) (hide spoiler)] were disturbing and just not something I super enjoyed reading about. They were a bit on the horror side to me, and I don't read horror either...
