🌹Theme - From a Fortnight to Forever 🌹

The dates will begin on Saturdays at 6 PM US ET, at that time the task for each date will be announced. Books must be completed and posted by the following Friday at Midnight US ET. Roses will be awarded before the next date begins. Each date we will be working towards spelling out B-A-C-H-E-L-O-R. The tasks for each letter will be posted in advance, but you will not know which task will be used until the date begins.

Roses are earned by:
🌹 The First Rose 🌹 Teams earn this rose by reading 4 books fitting the task during the date. (One rose possible per team per date.)
Bonus roses may be earned by:
🌹 Speed Dating Rose 🌹 The team that has 4 members finishing 4 books (1 each) and posts in the Q&A/Announcement thread first wins this bonus rose. Note, posting is required to earn this rose. If this rose is not claimed within 48 hours of the date beginning, it will not be awarded. (One rose possible per date.)
🌹 Team Dating Roses 🌹 Teams with each member completing the task (with a minimum of 6 books read) earn 3 additional roses. (Three roses possible per team per date.)
🌹 Serial Dating Rose 🌹 For every multiple of 8 books read, teams will earn a rose. So 8 books is one rose, 16 books is 2 roses, 24 books is 3 roses and so on. (Number of roses will vary each date, maximum of 7 per team per date.)
🌹 Multiple Date Rose 🌹 The player who reads the most books for the date earns this bonus rose for their team. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Longest Date Rose 🌹 The player that reads the longest book for the date earns this bonus rose for their team. Please note that boxed sets and anthologies will NOT be counted towards this rose! (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Page Turner Rose 🌹 The team that reads the most combined pages for the date, first edition Kindle only for page count, earns this bonus rose. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Scavenger Hunt Rose 🌹This special rose is earned by finding a book that fits each rule for the letter the date represents, for example B is for Best (award winner), Bonjour (set in mainland Europe), ??? (hidden task) and Bronco (tagged 'cowboy'). After posting your completion, post in the Scavenger Hunt thread to claim the book. Both posts, in your team thread and the Scavenger Hunt thread, should list the qualifications for each task, i.e. be identical. This rose may be earned multiple times per date but only once per book. The first person to post each book claims the rose for that book. (Number of roses available per date will vary, maximum of 7 per person per date.)

Teams will not be eliminated even if they earn no roses, they will have a chance to catch up by earning additional roses on other dates. Players will be eliminated if they do not complete the task on two cumulative dates. Eliminated players will not be replaced. Remember, players are allowed to read multiple books for a given date in order to earn bonuses and/or to make up for teammates who do not read their book or who have been eliminated.

Books must be 100 pages and MPG Romance. Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance or similar is acceptable, but it must be romance. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS on the MPG Romance rule. We will be using the English language first edition Kindle page count ONLY for this challenge. Audiobooks and rereads are ok. Abridged audiobooks are NOT ALLOWED for this challenge. Books can only be read once per person during the challenge even if it fits multiple categories. Once the task for the date is announced, you may not tag a book so that it fits or edit any lists - this must be done before the date begins.

MPG = Main Page Genre:
On the main page of the book under the precis, there is a section that says "Genres". Anything listed under that section is counted as an MPG. You may use anything that show when you click 'more', but not if you click 'show all'.

MPG Romance = Main Page Genre Romance:
In the "Genres" section described above, there must be 'Romance". It could be Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance or MM Romance, but it has to have 'Romance' listed.

❤️ Completion Posts ❤️

When making your completion posts, remember you must include how the book/s qualify. If the task states, for example (and this is just an example!):

A is for Athlete - Read a sports romance, qualification from the title, précis, list or tags.

Saying 'the hero is a runner' or 'MC is an athlete' doesn't qualify the book. Using 'précis states that hero is a football player' or 'tagged sports by 7 people' does qualify the book. Remember that links are required for lists, tags and different editions.

Also, when using the cover as the qualifier, post the cover image in your completion.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

Remember, books can NOT be tagged or added to lists after the date begins!

Also, books can NOT be started before the date begins!

Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!

You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

Hi Team!

I'm Christy, and I live in Georgetown, TX, a suburb of Austin. I work from home as an e-commerce manager, and live with my 2 small dogs, Corbin and Foster. Foster is a new rescue that appeared in the small yard of my apartment late in June, and I've had Corbin for a year and a half.

Outside of books, I enjoy hanging with the dogs, spending time with friends, and family. I love trying new restaurants as well as discovering new wines or beers.

I love reading, music, photography and foster guinea pigs for the RSPCA . with the heat lately , none of them have been able to go outside until 5pm ( poor things )

I also have trouble finding SH roses. I think it's partially that I have a list of books I want to read, and further, I don't have the time or patience to hunt them down since we can't prehunt them down with the 4th option being made available at the last minute.

Hi Team! I'm Grace and from San Diego , theme calls are at 3 pm for me. I stick to reading romance books and typically jump around genres so I don't get into a reading slump.

When i first stated playing we had all 4 options in advance so id find roses ready to read but the round always started at my bed time and you could gaurantee that my roses had been used by the time i got up, 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Hi Tink! I recognize your name from the Meet & Greet, but I don't know that we've been on a team challenge before. No worries about relaxed play on my part. I'm here for the joy of reading, not to eliminate the competition.

I've been there with the timing! I don't recall what challenge it was, but they were calling things about the time I was waking up to head to work, and it was a non-starter to be able to finish first.

I also remember when we had all the prompts in advance. I much prefer this way in terms of leveling the playing field a bit, though.

Hi Grace! I'm originally from California, and went to college at SDSU. I miss the much milder weather than the heat we have here in Texas.

I too mainly read romance. I used to break out more to historical or literary fiction, or the occasional mystery, but recently, I just want to read what I refer to as my brain candy, lol.

I only read MM romance , although ive been doing the Quest challenge which has required me reading stuff outside my norm

I'm between Oxford and Swindon, but originally from Kent so get called a Cockney all the time 🤷‍♀️

I just read Romance across most os the genres with some MM too.

I don't mind which team name either.

But I seem to be in a little bit of a stall with baseball just ending, now I'm waiting for football and volleyball to start up. Because I am so busy, I usually only get one book read a week. Sometimes I can get two.
I am not very competitive with this challenge. I don't usually look for SH books but I will definitely try this round.
I read mostly contemporary romance, a little paranormal, a little MM, romantic suspense. I don't read outside of the romance genre.

I am always excited for this challenge and I think I am going to love this laid back team :)

B is for Blether - Read a book 300 pages or over.

To qualify for this task, the selected book needs to have a first edition Kindle edition 300 pages or over. Don't overthink this - it is the same page count you post for every book.

Remember books must be 100 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!

Scavenger Hunt Rose Qualifications:

B is for Big Dipper - Read a book with the stars on the cover.

To qualify, the selected book's cover needs to show stars. The stars need to be celestial and must represent an actual star, not a star shaped object.. So a cover with a night sky showing stars would work, but a tattoo of stylized stars would not. The stars must be part of the cover art, not part of a logo or title graphic. You can use any edition’s cover to qualify for this task. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion posts. If in doubt, please ask.

B is for Blether - Read a book 300 pages or over.

To qualify for this task, the selected book needs to have a first edition Kindle edition 300 pages or over. Don't overthink this - it is the same page count you post for every book.

B is for Bravery - Read a book with a first responder MC.

To qualify for this task, the book needs to have a character that is a first responder - firefighter, LEO, paramedics, EMTs or dispatchers. This can be indicated in the precis, title, series, tags or lists. Combo tags will be allowed IN CONTEXT - so if your book is tagged 'cops_firemen_military', but the precis indicates the hero is a military for example (or even if all the other tags just indicate military), the book will be disqualified. I strongly suggest you find other qualification if possible - I will be SUPER PICKY with the combo tags.

B is for Bump - Read a book with pregnancy, baby or child in story.

To qualify for this task, the title, précis, list or tag would need to include the words 'pregnancy' (or its variants), 'infant', 'baby', 'child/ren' or 'kid/s' or the equivalent. A child would need to be a minor, grown children would not qualify. . The précis can also expressly state in other words that the book has a pregnancy in the story, this only applies to pregnancy and only to the précis. These words need to be in context, 'baby, it's cold outside' does not work. 'Childrens' as in children's books (books written for kids) is specifically excluded from this task. 'Childrens' will not be an acceptable qualifier even if the book is clearly not a children's book.

Ive got a few 300+ pg bks to read this week ..so this might be my best week of the challenge 😄🔵

The broader categories are some of the hardest for me since its hard to narrow down choices. I've been reading a lot of novellas this week in hopes this weeks theme would help narrow down choices, but I'm out of luck 🤣

The star theme is killing the SHR's, otherwise I have books that would fit all other qualifications.

This was absolutely the best case scenario for me on this set of prompts, tons of options on my TBR. Will be picking something soon, now that I'm home from having dinner with friends.
