RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Phillies in five. The world will be shocked.

(Sorry, Gus!)

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

The whole world, or the world as we know it RA?

message 3: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) rain out, the whole thing =(

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Yankees in 7.

Only because I HATE the Phillies.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

By the way, I will say that I think this will turn out to be one of the more memorable World Series in quite some time. We've had some snoozers in the past 5 editions - I remember the Phillies winning last year, but I couldn't remember who they beat (Tampa Bay, thank you very much) - so it would be great to have a series go the full 7, with 3 or 4 extra inning games to go along.

David (bowsertheturtle) Yankees to sweep, it would be nice..

message 11: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments after last year freezin-rain-too late-nobody-is-watching debacle i hope for baseball sake that it goes 7 games. i am rooting for the phils because i am a NL fan and also because the EE is satan's team and i hate for the dark side to win anything

message 12: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Lee was outstanding last night. complete game, 10 K's, 1 BB and totally kept the EE off stride PLUS he made the Damon pop up catch look like it was in the backyard and then the smooth behind the back catch of the come-backer was just sick. totally in control of the game last night. last time i saw a pitcher in such a postseason groove was OrelH with the Dodgers

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

His effort certainly got the Phils off to a good start. I was saddened to see the shut out go away though.

message 14: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Lee was a monster! Sabathia was good, too, can't blame him...the Yanks relievers blew.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, Sabathia's effort was commendable, but Lee has just looked great in the playoffs.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm looking forward to seeing Pedro Martinez pitch tonight. I wonder if he's got good enough stuff to keep the Yankees bats off-balance, but something tells me the Yanks will take Game 2.

message 17: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments pedro was very gracious and convincing with his remarks about regretting the incident with Zim

Books Ring Mah Bell I am totally tickled that the Yankees lost.

that's all.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Coochie-coochie-coo!!!

Books Ring Mah Bell :)

Sorry Gus.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

About what?

Books Ring Mah Bell I thought you were a Yankees fan. Now I see you are just anti-Philly!

message 23: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Wow...looks like another good game last night...wrong outcome, but still a good game...

message 24: by Arminius (last edited Oct 30, 2009 11:53AM) (new)

Arminius Utley was safe on the double play ball in the 8th. If the call would have been correct Howard would be up next.
Rivera would have had to throw him decent pitches because there were men on base.

That could of led to a double and tied game or a homer and a likely victory.

message 25: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) and they called an out that wasnt an out for the yankees also, refs arent perfect, its how the game goes until replays..

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Both calls were bad calls, so it all evened out in the end.

message 27: by Arminius (new)

Arminius I think that one was much tougher to call. I couldn't see the bounce on the replay.

However, I do agree with you. You are always going to get bad calls but you will get just as many good ones as well.

message 28: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) One game to go.. this one should be a good one tonight.. =D one thing i noticed and correct me if I'm wrong, but i don't recall yankee fans in yankee stadium chanting phillis suck.. but every game played in philli phillis fans chanted yankees suck and things similar.. just an observation..

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

But the Yankees do suck David! :-)

message 30: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) i think its cliche to dislike the Yankees, its like there one of the most hated teams in baseball.. i like them for the history, like there one of those teams that define American baseball, you know? my favorite players have always been the guys from the older teams, though i do like Matsui.. i know, people hate the idea that they now use money to push their weight around and i don't like that idea.. but it doesn't mean that the players themselves don't have as much heart as any other team..

message 31: by Lori (new)

Lori The whole world loves to hate the Yankees. Except if you are a New Yawkuh. Richard was in Boston last week, and proudly wore his Yankees cap.

My prediction, the Damn Yankees will lose tonight because Johnny Damon is pitching, but they'll win the next game.

Note that even tho I'm a homegirl New Yawkuh, I'm not a die-hard Yankees fan. The pathetic Mets were my team. Now I don't care one way or other. But when Boston won several years ago, I was delighted. Richard didn't talk to me for 2 days. :D

message 32: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) isnt Bernett pitching for the yankees? i like the mets too there a fun team to watch, that and i liked to sing a long to sweet caroline.. but ive always liked the yankees..

message 33: by Lori (new)

Lori Yeah, I was referring to the Phillies pitcher, the one who got the no-hitter in the first game. But I think the Yanks will get some hits off of him tonight. They are psychologically stronger now.

message 34: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments uh...lori. nevermind

what about the damon double steal! never seen anything like that. and he planned it knowing they would have the shift on for MarkT. wow! totally heads up and a total goof for the phillies. (lidge swallowed another choke sandwich)

message 35: by Lori (last edited Nov 02, 2009 10:27AM) (new)

Lori What, Kevin, how did I just portray my utter stupidity, hee!

message 36: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments nope. no prob.

message 37: by Arminius (new)

Arminius The heads up double steal by Damon won that game. Lidge blew the game by not covering third. But remember The Phillies are still the world champions and they do not hold that title for no reason. Winning three games will be very hard but if Howard breaks out of his slump things will change.

message 38: by Lori (new)

Lori Arminius wrote: "But remember The Phillies are still the world champions and they do not hold that title for no reason. ..."

How do you get that? Oh, because you are from PA! Hahaha.

message 39: by Arminius (new)

Arminius They won the World Series last year. So they are still the World Champions. Of course, if the Yankees win one of the next three games they will be the World Champions.

And yes I am rooting for them. I have been a fan since I was a child and believe me there was a lot of lean years.

message 40: by Lori (new)

Lori Ahhhh, well, I forgot they won last year. :)
