The book you like most discussion
scifi and fantasy recs

Anything by UK LeGuin
WH Miller, A Canticle for Leibowitz (although it may be a bit lengthy)
Of course, Fahrenheit 451 and 1984

thanks so much and its a month long per genre so lengthy book may not be ideal. Also Ironically I put 1984, F451, and UK Leguin in my polls but no one votes for it. But they voted for animal farm tho lol

OoO not a bad idea. maybe Adrian Tchaikovsky would be too long for a whole month but like i am fine with it cause I read average of 8-10 books a month. and my cousin has been on my case to read the red rising saga but like idk why I haven't read it yet, like it too me until last month to read the hunger games book 1 for the first time :)

I have heard of iron widow before and was interested in it. Is the red rising saga that good?? like I never read it but like it made my cousin read books.

I never read the Ender's saga so I won't know how its like. I am also a huge fantasy reader thats why I made a bookclub to make me read more scifi books.

there are actually two fantasy books I liked most:
Sherina, The High Priestess: Book 1 of the Chronicles of Beauty Fantasy series)

The Chronicles of Beauty: Sherina, The High Priestess

and
The Hobbit ( old time fav)
Amazon Link: https://a.co/d/2cvmWcQ
Both are great reads...

All Systems Red by Martha Wells and A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers are both novellas (very easy to read in ~month) and are excellent books -- and ones that are friendly to newer sci-fi readers. (All Systems Red is very, very funny, and A Psalm for the Wild-Built is like a warm hug).
To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers is a novella that's more on the introspective side but is truly truly gorgeous.
And if you want longer books that are on the newer side (last 5 years or so) Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh is wonderful and rightfully won every possible award, and Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell is a space-opera romance romp that is extremely fun.

hi thanks so much for the rec. The hobbit was a great idea because we read a Silmarillion by Tolkien with the bookclub.

I read some becky chambers books, I read book 1&2 of the wayfarers series and the novella. but haven't read the other ones. Especially the Murderbot series, is that any good??

I saw the trailer of the murderbot show that is coming soon seems cool. but like my bookclub don't vote pretty often and I am stuck picking the book and then they are like no I am not gonna participate which is kinda frustrating thats why I resorted to asking for recs

oh I agree, it just sucks that no one wants to engage and then complain. like I am giving you the option to vote for the club like I am not choosing it, but I have to pick out of 3-4 books.

ik which sucks cause I would love for people to talk about books with me cause it's fun :)) I just posted my bookclub polls lets see what they pick of if they vote this time

thats sound so much fun. is it a casual bookclub?

do you choose which discussions to participate in? like you can join any one of them?

ohh thats interesting. I will definitely check it out it would probably be very fun cause I enjoy talking to people about my thoughts on books

dw your good lol. if you want to you can but like its fine :)

ohh thats so interesting, I actually wanted to read Joe Abercrombie's works

is that his most famous series? cause I never heard of it and probably have to catch up to you guys with that series if I read it lol cause I only heard of his first law series

dang. 12, and I though Brandon Sanderson world was exapansive lol
Ik wheel of time is like 14-15 but its funny to think that fantasy novels go on forever :)

They are excellent - live up to the hype:)

Out of all of these, my bookclub has read brave new world and also I personally read Binti and didn't like it as much and DNFed it. maybe because it was an audiobook, but yah that wasn't like my fave personally.
