I've just started reading discworld novels, they kinda give studio ghibli with the crazy worldbuilding and creatures. More funny than emotionally profound though. And I think only teens and up should read discworld.
I haven't watched that many ghibli movies yet, so sorry if this isn't a great rec!
Start with the book The Colour of Magic. I'm using a reading order I used online.
