Also just letting everyone know, I totally intend to resurrect Fall Into Smut which we ran in Footnotes last year for fun from Sept 1 through Nov. 30th. Just in case it influences your voting, LOL.

Yaaaaaa. I love smut and have hundred to choose from. I still have three more Horde King trashy books left!

Knew I could count on you! I have plenty - and have a trip to the Brooklyn The Ripped Bodice on my horizon wher I can score a couple new options.

I'll have to think on this. With what's going on in my "other" life, I'm thinking I may be reading less in Sept. Off to check my F2F book club selections to see if there is anything that obviously fits one of these tags.

Ditto. Vastly the preferred option with LGBTQ vastly the lowest choice though I do have some options for all and have been really rubbish at reading lately anyway with all the other stuff going on in life.

I have many international books but I usually tag them by their specific country, continent or city. I know I have a lot of queer books that aren’t tagged at all. They no longer stand out from the others, except on some romance covers). (“Queer” is still hard for me to get used to, but I’m trying. It means LGBTQIA+ but is easier to type.) I like this tag more than I did a few years ago, because they aren’t all YA books, and the plots are more varied.
There are very few NEW books with the Around the world tag. I only spotted one 2025 book so far - There Are Rivers in the Sky. Only a handful of 2024 books. I guess that’s good from a PC pov. People are using countries, continents or regions rather than some general term that means “not here.” But it makes it harder to match 5 tags for The Compass game.
Since we will need to use our own judgment on many books without the tag, does it make sense to define “Around the World” as not set in the US? (Or not US, Canada and England.) We are all part of the world, but the distinction is appropriate for our purposes.

I prefer around the world, but I bought this on sale recently - Hi Honey, I'm Homo!: Sitcoms, Specials, and the Queering of American Culture. I always suspected that television helped pave the way for the new attitudes that enabled the acceptance of gay marriage.
I wish I was in tune with the signs of the forces that led the pendulum to swing in the other direction. I wouldn’t have been so surprised by the extent of cultural changes we’re experiencing now. Books suggestions are welcome.
