G.G. | 3 comments I feel as if I have tried everything. Seriously I am so out of ideas that I just can't think of anything else. I have Book one of my series out and I think I have had about 40 people download it. 28 of those only because it was free. I know that if my book gets in front of people they would like it. I am seriously about to give up. I have a kickstarter almost ready to go, but if I can't even get people to get my book how am I gonna get backers. I am so discouraged. I am hoping you all get help me by telling me this is part of the process. Please help a lost soul with a story to tell find his way in an never ending sea of great books.

Laura Koerber | 38 comments I understand the frustration. There used to be a thread called something like "Marketing that really works" It has disappeared. I read it daily and miss it. Does anyone comment there anymore?

It takes time, lots of time, for most authors to get noticed by a great number of people. If you only have one book and it's the first in a series, chances are people are waiting to see if the rest of the series materializes. It's become very common for writers to put out one or two books of a series, then give up and not put out any more. People don't want to waste money on the first part of a story that might never be finished.

What you need to ask yourself is: Why do you write? Is it because you're hoping for instant fame and fortune or is there something else?

I have been moderator here for years and I don't recall that thread. That doesn't mean it never existed, but I don't remember it. It would not have been deleted, though. We only delete threads that are against the rules of the group and I doubt such a thread was against the rules.

G.G. | 3 comments Thank you. I can answer those questions and I never really thought about the series end before. It actually make sense. This is the work part then and I am finishing up the three part series. Book two comes out sept 6th and I am excited about that.

Here is my why to writing. I grew up in sped classes. I struggled with reading and writing throughout school. I eventually became a sped teacher and I wanted to show my students that anyone can do hard things. In fact that is one of my theme to the Ashes Series.

Thank you so much for your comment. It gave me the push I needed to finish this journey.
