Tess sat by the river her feet dangling in it. Her face and arms were scattered with bruises from another of her father's beatings. She had finally gotten away from him and come down to her favorite spot by the river. No one came here very often.

Hunter laid on his bed and texted Tess
-hey we're are you-he pressed send then sat up

Tess's phone vibrated. She picked it up and read the message from Hunter.
-By the river- she pressed send after hesitating for a moment.
