Good casting :-)

message 4: by Sam (new)

Sam (aramsamsam) | 364 comments Oh yes! I love Eddie Redmayne. I still cannot imagine how this book would work as a film, though. I read it back in 2001 along with the other "non-fiction" HP book and was fascinated, so I'm getting excited now, just a little.

I think its expanding well beyond the original book

I'd expect it ;) But there's something to be said for a mockumentary in the style of the Hitchhikers Guide.

I'd buy into that

I'm also excited that it's set in the 1920s (I believe). Will be interesting to see if magic was different!

And I hope it will be glamourous, full of fancy dresses and great music... instead of being about some guy in the marshes hunting strange beasts or something of the sort. A mix of both would be just fine.

Absolutely. I love seeing the magical world in full flow like the first three HP films

message 11: by Johanna (new)

Johanna H. | 101 comments There are some new Harry Potter books
If you don't know them yet here they are:

Harry Potter: The Character Vault

Harry Potter: Magical Places from the Films: Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Beyond

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Illustrated Edition

It will be hard to satisfy the expectations of the fans with the movie.. It's a Harry Potter movie without Harry Potter..
But if they include enough of the magical world the clothes and the Harry Potterness in it then i'm going to love it anyway :) Does anyone know when the movie is going to come out?

Christmas next year sounds good!
This time they can be as creative as they want because there is no actual story line they have to take care of.
It takes place before the harry potter books, right?

Its set a fair few years before the HP books . Definitely interested in seeing what they come up with

Oooh thanks Johanna, I didn't know they existed!

All I can say is thank goodness there is the new Star Wars this Christmas to distract me from the fact that Fantastic Beasts is still over a year away! :O

:) I just found out about them too! It's amazing that they still publish books and continue with the series.
JK published a story about Voldemort last year Halloween i think, i didn't read it because i didn't know. Did anyone read it?
First a new Star Wars and next HP it's going to be two great years :D

I was looking at that earlier and they are actually really good. I particularly like the one with Hagrid in the boat. Aside form the book I wonder if there is a way to get the prints

message 22: by Johanna (new)

Johanna H. | 101 comments They're beautiful! I have to get this edition :) It's a great idea and i'm excited to see the Harry Potter world through J.k Rowling's eyes!

I have ordered this and it is arriving tomorrow! I am SO excited for it! And the rest being released over the next couple of years - I will be collecting them! I will still always love reading the actual books, but I think the illustrated ones will be lovely too.

Also - anyone fancy going to Hogwarts for Christmas Dinner? ;)

Anyone done their patronus on Pottermore? I got Black Swan.

Anyone use pottermore a lot? I used to use it ages ago when you could play the story, but it looks like they've made it more of a content heavy thing now.

message 30: by Milou (new)

Milou | 103 comments A black swan sounds great. I got a west highland terrier.

When it started i played it for maybe a week. But a good friend of me still uses it a lot and made me find out my patronus :p

I got a White Stallion!

Also, I've always been Gryffindor in every house quiz, including the original Pottermore one, but the new one put me in Ravenclaw.

message 32: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 446 comments Hi all, a friend of mine is asking about Pottermore, do you know if there is a fee?

I love that your patronus is a Westie, Milou!

No fee, Jessica :)

I got a White Swan -- but I thought patronuses were made of white light, so how are they colored?

The new Pottermore put me in Ravenclaw, though I'd always been in Gryffindor before, too.

I heard from y'all that Stephen Fry did an audiobook narration for the series, but I don't see it anywhere. I'm not crazy about Jim Dale's version; he says the dialogue wrong.

message 35: by Milou (new)

Milou | 103 comments Black and White swans differ in more than just colour. Altho the main physical difference is the size of the syrinx (which you wont see), black swans are more aggressive and display very diffent threat behaviour than white swans. So i guess this is what would show in the patronus.

I am Hufflepuff in both :D

First thing to put me off is that they use Sorceror's Stone rather than the proper name . I hate dumbed down names for books.
But aside from that its an interesting chart. :-)
