I was pretty excited when I learned that a Stuart MacBride novel was a book of the month. I never seem to vote for a winning book. I've only recently discovered this author and love his Logan McRae mysteries. I didn't realize that this book was the second in a series so I then read the first one: Birthdays for the Dead. While they were both really good, I think I prefer the McRae series. This one is a little too gritty for my taste.
Ok, I am on page 99 and I have an idea who the killer is. My prediction is: (view spoiler)[Ruth Laughlin. The last victim. She is a pediatric nurse, she slipped a track suit top under the head of Ash in the train station, and I believe she self inflicted the incision on herself. She is either THE killer or an accomplice. I love Stuart McBride.. only discovered his novels a short while ago. Making my way through his other series, but hope to make it to these books soon as well. Hope it's as good as the Logan Mcrae series.
Ok, just finished it. WHEW! What a ride! I won't tell you if my prediction about the killer was correct or not. But, if you read it, you'll know. The clues are all there in plain sight. It was a fun and grisly read, although I do wish I had read the first book beforehand, because from the backstory, it sounds like an even better read. All in all, dark, gritty and fun.
