Career-driven attorney, Jill Parnell, has worked long and hard to become a partner at Corbett, Gray, & Shaw. When the coveted position is given to the boss’s nephew, she does what any intelligent employee would do—attends a colleague’s wedding and schmoozes a high-powered partner at another law firm.

Her potential new boss has only one condition for her, that she demonstrate a personal life that will support a thriving career. Pretending to have a boyfriend is outside Jill’s comfort zone, but she invites the best man to act the part and Ryan is all-too eager to play her significant other. Sparks fly between them, but she reminds herself she’s only driven to date to get back on the partner track.

When Jill discovers Ryan is the lawyer who stole her promotion, her charade threatens to implode. But breaking off their pretend relationship could cost her the job of her dreams. And the more she gets to know Ryan, the more she’s tempted to tame the bad boy, and make him her own.

Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[I can understand how the situation with her boyfriend would have been hard for both of them. Still, to give her an ultimatum like that was not cool. And them giving that position to the guy was way wrong. I would be so mad. Ugh.<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 5 (view spoiler)[Jill needs to live outside of work a little. It's good to have goals, but she takes some things a little far. Hopefully her friendship with Ginger helps that.<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

Through chapter 6 (view spoiler)[It really annoys me that she just assumes she knows how Ryan is with women based on one comment. Yeah, don't just throw yourself into something with a guy, but don't believe every little thing you hear about them either. I'm really enjoying this though. Not sure Ryan can compete with Paul, but he's close.<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

And Jill drives me a bit crazy with her assumptions. She's too into trying to categorize people, but not everyone fits the mold she tries to force them into. <\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

She's definitely not one to trust others easily and that extends to Ryan. Poor Ryan. He genuinely seems to like her but she won't give him a chance (hide spoiler)]

Sweet ending! (view spoiler)[I'm so glad Jill dumped both the partners and joined Charles and Ethan. I mean Ed ratting her out for sending her resume was a low blow. Stan was a bastard who didn't want to treat a woman as his equal. Good thing Ryan left them too!

Yes! The parents are either divorced or having issues. And the mother is usually a control freak. That doesn't really seem to be the case for this one though.
