I'm a copyeditor and proofreader with more than 20 years' experience working as both a freelancer and full-time in-house editorial (sort of) jack-of-all trades.

Attention to grammatical order has always been my thing. The love of reading came first, and then it was a natural follow that I started paying attention to style and word choice.

I have two sons who are both avid readers and love to catch typos, misspellings . . . anything problematic in a book. They're in the teen years, both parts difficult and delightfully "dance to the beat of their own drum" excited about everything. They're my world.

Finally, after several years of reading solely for work and not much for myself, I've decided to get back on the pleasure-reading horse and find whatever strikes my fancy (whether it's something I've read before or a book I've just been introduced to) and inundate myself.

Coffee appreciator, long-work-commuter, busy mom . . . book person and editor. It's me.

Massimo Marino | 1 comments Dear all,

I’d like to share with you the realization of a vision. After years spent in publishing my novels, always aiming at the most professional and polished books for my readerships, I’ve dreamed of an environment where all caring actors around the creation and enjoyment of great books could be together, interact, and contribute to the realization of our dreams, for sure, but with a professional and committed attitude as well.

BookGarage opens its doors to welcome authors, freelancers, and readers together.
We talk about a vision, and a dream, and the importance of quality as the foremost goal in the long journey required for turning a manuscript into a book that readers will enjoy.

I encourage you to explore our vision and our mission from BG website at http://www.bookgarage.com/, and subscribe to our mailing list in order to be kept up to date with our development and—soon—our start of the operations: http://www.bookgarage.com/newsletter....

Profit from this run-in period, while we finish developing the heuristics and advanced search capabilities, to share with us your expectations and wishes.

BookGarage will be as great as its members are.

All the best,
Massimo Marino
COO and co-founder

Bonita Martin | 2 comments Greetings! I'm a proofreader/line editor, author and nurse. The nursing expertise comes in handy when editing anything with medical terminology or medically-based passages. The downside is my brain editing when I read or view fiction written by someone with a little bit of medical knowledge. It makes me cringe at some of the things I encounter...blood, and only blood, hanging from a pole...ugh! Although I don't want to be a copy editor, I can't help myself when it comes to the medical stuff.

I'm hoping to pick up freelance work on this site and learn from my peers.

J.N. McGhee | 1 comments Hi, my name is Jasmine. I am not a Proofreader (certified anyway). I do have a question about how to become a Certified Proofreader. I have been working on a few projects as a book editor, content editor, proofreader, and beta reader.I have a BA in English, and I'm a published author. I recently decided to pursue a career as a Copyeditor. I have been researching and looking up what to do. But I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to help by giving some direction.
Eventually, I would love to start my own business with editing services along with copyediting and ghostwriting as well.

Thanks in advance. Praying that I learn and grow on this path I've embarked.

Carol Tietsworth | 3 comments Hi, my name is Carol Tietsworth. I have been professionally trained as a proofreader when I read stocks and bonds and foreign currency for a printer in Philadelphia, a million years ago, I worked for 15 years as a litigation paralegal, editing on the side. Last October the attorney retired and I expanded my editing to full-time from home business.
