Man, I'm 11% in and really ejoying the tension between Max and Babineau. I dont know why its been taken up 2 notches but i suspect that (view spoiler)[ Max is anger went up now that Babineaux has 2 things on him that gives him power.
1. ex lover of Ceecee
2. knows his nature (shapeshifter)

Now that Charlotte has opened her big mouth and Alain knows (view spoiler)[ his wife is also a shape shifter---and possible knows of others....I think Alain will dump Tina.

Yes, Max and Babs are like two testosterone filled bulls locking horns, lol!

I'm on Max's side though. I don't blame him for his reactions over the fact that Charlotte and Babs were(view spoiler)[lovers (hide spoiler)] although I have to wonder if (view spoiler)[its really true or if she only said that to make Max jealous. (hide spoiler)]

Babs and the other cops aren't exactly trustworthy when it comes to Max so I can't blame him for his reaction to that either. They could turn on him at any second and expose his secrets.

It will be interesting to see what Babs does (view spoiler)[with Tina now that he knows the truth. If he does dump her than he isn't the man that Charlotte thought he was and he isn't worth the time or effort. If he stays with her and accepts her like I hope he does but continues to denigrate Max and Charlotte then he is nothing more than a hypocrite. (hide spoiler)]

I don't think Max should be getting his panties in a twist. Babs and Cee was BEFORE Max. It had nothing to do with him. Charlotte is crazy about him and even (view spoiler)[ let him BITE her. She bets his beast when he shifts, she has compromised herself professionally by altering crime scenes and expecting other officers to keep her secret.

Yes, but he's a beast and so it bothers him more than it should. On a rational level, he knows it was before they got together and he should just let it go, but on an instinctual, animal level, he wants to rip Babs apart because he sees him as competition for his mate.

Sure thing. I'm enjoying the series more with each book. I'm looking forward to getting to the ones that focus on Jaques and Giles. I really like their characters.

you are right. Beasts are territorial and Babs spends hours with Charlotte daily. I can see why that would be an issue.

I want to see if Babs looks at Oscar differently now.

Finished and am glad to say that this series is growing on me more and more. Its one of those series that really puts you through the entire gamut of emotions.

Final thoughts:

Max and Charlotte - (view spoiler)[although they are mostly open and honest about their feelings for one another there is still a lot of angst and hurtful words thrown about. They still have a long way to go before they are truly a unified couple. (hide spoiler)]

Max's mother - (view spoiler)[We know that Rollo sold Max to Jimmy but it seems that Marie knew about it and went along because she couldn't protect Max. Jimmy's men double crossed them though and were going to take Max to the Chosen - right?

I hate to think of what little Max had to do to survive in the swamp. Poor kid! (hide spoiler)]

Alain - (view spoiler)[OK now he is has just pissed me off completely. Betraying his partner out of petty jealousy, really?! Being a cop on the take? What has happened to this guy? (hide spoiler)]

Tina - (view spoiler)[All of my previous affection for her went out the window when she callously talked about how Charlotte dying would leave Max free to mate with someone else. Talk about cold! I know that she would do anything to save her son but jeez!
