I guess the comment I posted in the question about Doug Lee should have gone here so I'll repost it.
It seemed to me he (Doug Lee) was symbolic in this story about the misconceptions about women. From the beginning, the men attributed their lateness to female behavior, Hemmer underestimated the women's ability to outsmart him and Doug Lee lost his life pulling the alpha male card. Even the guy masquerading as a state patrolman thought his charm would be sufficient to capture them.
The references to shopping, Doug Lee viewing them as the weaker sex he needed to protect and even when the women were found by the RV occupants, the men expected them to run to them and embrace. Grace knew they still had work to do and acted accordingly.
Just something that reached out to me.
