Alex Shelby (jynxmecrazie) | 10 comments Hello everyone, my name is Alex.
I've been reading since I can remember, but I just started doing challenges this year and I am completely hooked. My favorite genre is suspense/thriller, but I am trying to broaden my horizons a bit, so I will read almost anything if it sounds *at least* somewhat appealing to me.

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Welcome to the group, Alex!
Please feel free to join in on any of our ongoing and upcoming challenges and group reads. We also have non-competitive challenges you can join. I'd love some recommendations from the suspense genre.:)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Welcome, Alex! I really enjoy suspense novels too. The ones I've read anyway. Do you have any favorite authors in the genre?

message 204: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi! I am LisaG. :) Jumped in to the activities to try them out and I must say I REALLY like this group. I'm an elementary school librarian who has a passion for YA lit. That's where most of my personal reading focuses. I probably am older than most people here.... but I am ok with that. :) Married, live in Texas and have a 23-year old daughter and a fat cat.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Hi, LisaG! Glad to have you in the group and I'm glad that you love it! Elementary school librarian sounds cool! Excited to start reading with you! And honestly, age is just a number anyway. :)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Hey Lisa! Glad you like the group and all we have to offer.:) I'd tell you to jump in and join challenges and such, but it looks like you've already done that.

message 213: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Hello, I'm Jordan and I adore reading! I read more fantasy than anything else, but I read a vast variety of genres. My favorite kind of music is indie. I have recently started doing challenges and wanted a few more, so that's how I discovered this group. :)

message 214: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Hi, Jordan! Welcome to the group! I see you've already signed up for one June challenge, but feel free to join more. It marks our one year point, so we have some special things planned.

Fantasy is my favorite genre, though I read a fairly wide variety. Indie music is cool! Do you have any favorite books or musicians?

message 216: by Kaylin (new)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) Hello! I'm Kaylin, and I'm new to this whole challenge thing, but think it sounds like great fun!

I'm currently a university student, and due to my class scheduled and the craziness of life, my reading drastically slowed down in the past couples of years. I'm on summer break right now, and have been rapidly reading through my "to-read" shelf and loving every minute of it.

I read a little bit of everything. I generally really like contemporary though. I'm trying to get into Fantasy, but just having a hard time. I also really love to read YA, classics and biographies.

Um... not sure what else. In addition to being a science major, I'm a trained EMT and work in an ER. Needless to say, I tend to like books where the science or health element is factual.

message 217: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Welcome to the group, Kaylin! Challenges can be very fun, so I hope you enjoy yourself! Feel free to join any of our challenges we have coming up in June.

I also enjoy contemporary, although fantasy is my favorite genre.

It sounds like you have a busy life. And very medically/scientifically focused. Do you enjoy sci-fi at all?

Thank you!

I really want to enjoy fantasy more, as I love the idea, but I just haven't found a series I enjoy. Any recommendations?

Yes, I do! I haven't read much of it lately, but its a genre I tend to gravitate back to.

message 219: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I would recommend anything by Brandon Sanderson. He's my favorite. :) Also the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo as well as Six of Crows. Those are some of my favorites.

message 225: by Monica (new)

Monica (moni78) | 22 comments I just finished The Selection now I'm on to The Elite. I like to marathon series.

message 226: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Nice. I wish I could do that, but I always get anxious when a new book comes out in the series. However, it stinks reading it right away because then I don't have anything else to move on to in that world.

message 227: by Monica (new)

Monica (moni78) | 22 comments Most of series I read are nearly if not complete I learned that from waiting for the next George R.R. Martin book...
