I think that might be a little misleading as there are technically "book games"

It's not a bad idea though...I actually think, if we theoretically had the participation, that would be a great idea for a long-term challenge, you know what I mean? One with different tasks and things. Seriously though, great idea if we could ever pull something like that off.

We could make them complete a challenge or two at a time and call them games instead of tasks? That way it could be a team game for a month and yes quick to the email thread!

Honestly...I can't remember the last Non-Fiction book I read. I have on hold for me at the library The Glass Castle: a memoir. It sounds good on the reviews?

@Mellissa: to be honest thinking about it, neither can I. I much prefer the escapism of a fictional book preferably fantasy👌🏻

I enjoy some non-fiction. I'm trying to read more of it, though my reading is still more fiction. It really depends in the subject and how the book is written with non-fiction.

I mostly prefer fiction/fantasy, but if I'm interested in the topic, I can get into a nonfiction book.

I am wondering how the challenges work in the group?

Each challenge should have the rules. We have a non competitive challenge folder where we have fun challenges and tracking threads. Our monthly challenge is usually a team challenge (or you can do solo) where you do certain things to earn points. The quarterly challenges run for three months and are usually individuals. You still complete certain things to earn points. If you have more specific questions feel free to ask here or on the challenge threads. :)

I just joined, looking forward to playing these challenges and reading with you guys! :) I'm 29, I live in FL, I'm a "stay at home mom" to 11 animals and a business owner :) I just recently moved here so I don't have many bookish friends IRL so I'm also looking forward to some buddy reads!! Hi, I'm Robin. I like to read historical fiction, scifi/fantasy romance, sci-fi, fantasy, and series I LOVE reading series of books. I work at a ceramics factory where i can listen to audiobooks all day long, so i can crank out a lot of books. Since I "read" so many books ( I know some people don't count it as reading, but sometimes i read and listen at the same time so... i pick up the story both ways and count it as legit to listen) I pretty much only borrow from the library, so it's more difficult to read the latest new releases and popular novels.
I am interested in being able to read books and discuss them with others, which is what i'm primarily hoping to get out of joining a book group ( this is my first one!) I'm also intrigued by the "challenges"...

Welcome, Robin! Audiobooks are definitely reading, so don't listen to what other people tell you. :) I have a hard time listening to them myself, but it does come in handy to be able to do so. Feel free to join in on some of our challenges and find buddies to read with. :)

Hi! My name is Felicia. I am super excited to join a group on Goodreads. This is my 2nd or 3rd month as a Goodreads member and my first group joining. I read in all of my spare time. I'd rather read then go out and smoke, drink, party, or whatever else normal 25 year olds do. Lol. My favorite books are fantasy books or anything that can keep my attention. My favorite author is Sarah J Maas. My favorite series is by SJM and it's called Throne of Glass. I don't like reading stand alone books. I also don't like starting a series that isn't completely finished because my patience is nonexistant. Lol. My TBR list is way too long and it just keeps getting bigger! I'm super excited to be a part of a new group!

NP. You can ask here. You just post what book you want to read and if someone wants to read the same book a mod will help set up a thread for you guys to read it.

Since that thread is sometimes a bit dead you can also ask here as it's usually a bit more active. It's not really the proper place but you're more likely to find someone to buddy with. :)
