In the chapter called "Doing," Eisenstein challenges the common habit of "always doing." What are the downsides of too much activity? What is its opposite, and what challenges does this present? Why do you think our culture is so obsessed with activity in general?

In the chapter on "Pain," Eisenstein posits that the "quick fix" underscores an underlying malady. Do you think this is so, and if so, what forms might these maladies take? How can we uncover them? Can you think of examples from your own life or in the news?
