College Students! discussion

OK, I had a really weird dream last night and I just had to share it with someone before I forgot, so I decided to start this thread.

The Dream:

I was on campus in this one college looking room (like the ones you see in old movies, with the fireplace and the table and all) with my favorite English professor. We discussed something about the English club and an event we're trying to plan. Then I walked across campus to this building I've seen a million times in real life, but have never been in before, because the event was supposed to be there. I walk in and there's the history professor that I have a tiny crush on in real life. At the English club event. So this professor nice and we talked and then we and some other people walked over to a table in a corner. The professor needed to write something, but for some reason he didn't use the table. The other girl and I were standing at the table leaning over, so he decided to use one of us to write on. The other girl didn't work, so he used my back as a stable surface to write on. We started talking and then he reached around me and picked up my teddy bear. Some birds got a little too close, so I dove under a table. End of dream.

Had any weird dreams lately?

Lol that was kind of random.

I've had a dream similar and it repeats at least once a year. I usually go to our Campus Center (which I've only been to twice) and hang out. Then at some point I always end up in our mascot outfit while I'm running away from something ( I never know what it is). Just the fact that I'm running around in a oversized blue wolf costume is weird enough. lol

I have this dream on occasion and don't know why. I had it last night.

I start off in a foreign country. My goal is to get back home to Walnut Creek, California. I am on a dock near some boats. I get on what I think looks like the fastest working boat. I drive out of the dock and then I reach a fork. One way is I could go straight or the other way which is left. Everytime I have this dream I go left. I figure it's west and California is west of the foreign country I am in. So I go on my way and I go through the same obstacles everytime. I start off on regular water, I have to doge some rocks, then I make a left and I'm going down this slide like thing and it's red. At this point I'm not on the boat anymore.I sliding down and then I hit smooth water and I am driving a boat again. I eventuall get to an office like check point area and I'm still in the boat driving it. For some reason in this dream I ask the clerk which way is west. I already know which way I'm going. I take the same route everytime. So I exit the area and I turn left on a narrow canal. Now I'm back on my feet. I'm walking along and it's a wierd scenery. In the canal I'm walking there is one person in front of me and a in front her is a bunch of electronics! On my right is a wierd. It is like a a water slide shopping center.. People are sliding along and going straight and up over slides. At this point I'm getting impatient cuz I am trying to get home. The electronics suddenly disappear and I go on my way and finally hit an exit and I am on a freeway. I don't know where I am. I see a sign but I can't read it. Then I wake up.

The dream was basically the same as always with few differences. One is I had to jump on a boat as it was leaving. I usually get on a boat that isn't occupied. Second, I normally woudn't ask where to go. And third, I woke up before I could get home. I normally get home first and then wake up.

I have this dream on occasion and don't know why. I have no clue as what it could mean. The only thing that comes to mind is "struggle" . I got to say it is a bitch trying to get home even though I know the route.

Whew...sorry this is so long. Any ideas about what this dream could mean?

Wow that is long! Does that dream come when you're stressed? Maybe the different obstacles in your dream correlate to ones in real life? But that's all I can come up with lol.

I always have crazy dreams...

Last night I had a dream that I was in a snowboarding competition, but instead of on snow it was on sand. I doubt it means anything other than I can't wait for it to snow in the mountains... but it was fun! :)

The most vivid dream I ever had scared me SOOO so badly.. I was in a war, but there were no guns, everyone had swords. At some point I realized that I couldn't move my right arm, and I looked down and saw that it had been cut off! So I start panicking and then I wake up.

Well when I woke up I was lying in bed relieved that it was just a dream and I still had both arms, but since I was still half asleep I decided to try moving my right arm just to make sure. So I tried to move it... but nothing happened.. so I sat up in bed screaming because I thought my arm really HAD been cut off, but when I looked down it was still there, it was just numb from the way I slept.

So apparently my dreams do try to tell me things but nothing all that brilliant lol!

I don't know whether or not my dream comes in stressful times. Never really paid attention to it. Usually if I'm stressed I have escape dreams. In this dream, I'm just trying to get back home. It could be. I have an in-class portion of my geography midterm tomorrow and the take-home portion is due monday. We all know midterms and finals can be stressful. I wonder what would happen if I went straight instead of left??? Maybe when I have that dream again, I'll go straight and see what happens.

I wish I could remember my dreams!! I'll remember one every now and then but not that often.

I think I read somewhere that the average dream is only three seconds long.

So weird! I've had dreams that took like 15 minutes to explain.

I agree, every time I hear that I find it so weird. 3 seconds to dream it and yet sometimes when you explain it you take forever! I remember telling my friend one of my dreams, 30 mins...30 mins of explanation! The brain is an odd thing

I wonder how these dreams are created. Where do these images come from?

i dont know, like my dreams repeat over and over again, sometimes i would have new dreams from an experience but other times they would be old, i would have one dream and then maybe in a month or two that same dream would come back and i would have it again

I've been under a lot of stress this week and its affected my dreams. I keep waking up so I have like four different dreams in one night. Last night was odd. The first dream was that it was Christmas day and I hadn't done a thing to celebrate. I was upset because I hadn't even put the Christmas tree up and I'd missed out on everything.

I have a recurring dream, though its never exactly the same. For as long as I can remember my nightmares have almost always been about dinosaurs. I have no idea why. But at least every couple of months I'll have a dream about dinosaurs. Weird, huh?

What is common in these dinosaur dreams of yours Kimberly? Like sometimes I have escape dreams. They all have different settings but the common thing is I am trying to escape from someone or something. Maybe if you knew what was common you can get more understanding of what the dream means.

This thread reminds me of Harry and Ron when they are doing their dream diaries for class.

I used to remember my dreams all the time, but not so much anymore. I will remember bits and pieces, but not really anything that happened.

I did have some wierd things happen with dreams when I was in 6th or 7th grade. Different dreams, same person in them I didn't know in real life, but remembered his name. Then Sophmore year of high school, he transfered from California into our high school. Same name and face, and no we hadn't met before, well that either of us remembered anyways. Wierd.

Maybe you were able to see the future sort of through your dreams.

LOL... it sounds like the books you read and the movies you watch are sneaking into your dreams.

Ashley, there were other times I had esp type moments from dreams, this one just really stuck out in my memory. It was sort of eery at the time.

I dream of my teeth falling out a couple of times a year, AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

yeah, i can always feel it.. most of the time it starts with me wiggling them with my tongue and then freaking out that i CAN wiggle them, and then it either moves on to them falling out whole or, like the other night, one falling out in big pieces. Horrible horrible! But it garuntees an awesome day after you wake up and realise it was only a dream :)

I'm almost always in a familiar place, Grandparents house, my house, my high school. I always am having to run, or hide. It's weird when I hide though, its like I'm hiding behind something but for some reason I'm still out in the open. (If that makes sense at all. lol).

At the risk of you thinking I'm a complete freak Jamie, you were in my dream last night. It was so weird...I've never even met you. Anyways, the dream was that you were getting married, and that you had to help me get something nice to wear, because you're really into fashion. And there was this big party, and you were twirling around in your wedding dress...it was so weird! I'm sorry if I've creeped you out.

It sounds like your dream is telling you that you can't hide from your problems. You are gonna have to face them sooner or later.

I forgot to mention that in my escape dreams when I finally escape, I just end up back where I started.Really frustrating.

I had another weird dream. I don't watch The Office very often, but the night before last I had a dream that I ran off and married Jim Halpert.

Okay, throughout the years, I have had some strange dreams that involve zombies, blood, killers, destruction, aliens, babies, food, family, etc the list goes on.

One of the strangest ones that I have had was about some serial killer chasing me and a couple of my friends in a hospital and ended in a warehouse. He was chasing us one by one. We were all running in different directions and I hid behind some boxes. As I was hiding I saw the killer shove a knife through my friends skull. I think I might have screamed because out of no where, the killer was right in front of me. I believe I was still screaming becasue my mouth was opened and he shoved the knife right in my mouth. I couldn't see his face, but I was in shock and I felt the knife in my mouth, but it didn't hurt. As he pulled the knife out, I fell to the ground and stayed there. Then out of no where, my friends and I ran out screaming covered in blood. I saw a line full of people, apperantly, it was some kind of virtual reality ride.

This was a crazy and scary dream because there was no sound and i had a knife shoved in my mouth. What was that all about?

sometimes i have funny dreams that i end up waking up and laughing to or the jack bauer dreams where i am taking out enemys with my hands and waking up with my hands in a form of a gun, its weird and sometimes i am laying on the bed and for a second i feeling this feeling that i am falling from a high rise and i get scared and think i am falling but i am not, and then there are other times where i connect with friends that i wish i had connected with in the past or i had this one dream that i got arrested for not paying someone money for something, and that same day, i think it was christmas eve i got pulled over by a cop for driving in the middle of the road, but he let me go because its christmas eve

I had a funny dream where I was being chased by a giant gorilla through this castle like corrider. I fell down and couldn't get up. The gorilla turned around and sat on me and then I woke up. I think its funny... how often do you get a dream where you are sit on by a giant gorilla. ..lol.

i had a dream where my mom was chasing me through the house with an axe, thats what you get when you misbehave i guess, not that i misbehave too often

I had a dream that culminated in something that probably cannot be discussed in a public forum (not as bad as you might think). It did however make a good story, posted that on my profile.

I had another dream about the professor I have a tiny crush on. In class the other day he said he couldn't pull the little pin out of his watch to adjust the time, so it's an hour off. I dreamt that I helped him fix his watch. Weird.

I had a dream last night that I got my final test back in Math and received a 20. Ouch. Don't need any help translating that!

Last night I almost stayed up late to read but decided not to because I needed sleep.

Well I had this CRAZY dream about dinosaurs chasing people through this castle-like-place. They weren't just any dinosaurs, they were Raptors. (Raptors have been in my dreams since JP III. The idea of a SMART over-sized lizard terrifies me more than a normal one I guess...at least, in my head, I can outwit a T-rex :P )

Anyways, I had a pretty epic adventure until one of them had me cornered. This is where I usually wake up, but instead I dreamed that I had read all that in a book, and just got really into it, and I kept thinking it was such a relief that it wasn't REALLY happening. I was just reading it!

When I woke up my first thought was, WHY did I stay up late to read last night? And then I realized that I didn't... I had dreamed the whole thing. it was kind of disorienting.

Last night I had the weirdest dream. I dreamt that I was somewhere in asia and that I was looking for something important. But I got lost and didn't understand a thing so I began to ask people if they knew where my best friend family house was (she is chinise), so I'm asking and a lady pulls me and takes me to her house, it turns out she is my friends grandma. I begin working in their house to help them.

I fall in love with this guy and we are suddenly in new york. Then I remember I was looking for something and just before the wedding(yes, Im on a wedding dress and all) I decide to look for it and my soon to be husband comes with me. We end up in some tunnels being pulled by a river or something. Then somehow we are at his parents house and my teeth begin to fall, I tell my boyfriend we need to get married fast or else I will be teethless on our wedding pictures...it begins to rain and I never found what I was looking for....

The first thing I did when I woke up, was to see if my teeth were still there!

The other night I dreamt that I was doing homework..what does that tell you about my life lately?

its weird sometimes i have dreams that i came to work and forgot to wear pants, i was so embarrased but noone seemed to care

I have never had the teeth falling out dreams, but yes, I have gone to work or school either naked or only partially dressed, and wierd enough noone seemed to notice or care.
oh, and I have done bookeeping and tax prep in my dreams before, and yes, it was during tax season. :)

I routinely go back to my high school (I'm 23 so its been a while). The thing is, it's never a conventional school. Last time it had an oracle and several classes on the use of magic (no, I've never read the Harry Potter books). I remember casting a very particular spell called "the key and claw." It was used for opening a steamer trunk. I never got to see what was inside.

I've never had the dreams where I forget to wear clothes, but I have had dreams where I'll be at school or work and realize I have a huge rip in my shirt, or my pants have a hole.

Drew, that's crazy! Especially since you haven't read the Harry Potter books.

I can tell when I'm stressed... I have vivid dreams every night until I am more relaxed.

Last night I had a dream that I was at work and my boss was handing out paychecks for November. She hands me $25. and then I cried because I didn't know how I was going to pay my bills....



I guess I'm a little nervous about my paycheck this month with the holidays and everything, but at least I know it will be more than $25!! lol! :)

Okay so last night I had the strangest dream. I was driving on the wrong side of the road going at over 100mph. After, the car started to act strange and all of a sudden the steering wheel broke and a piece stabbed me in the stomach. I could feel the blood being drained out of me and slowly feeling weaker and weaker until I couldn't take it anymore. I was trying to stay away and not close my eyes, but it was geting harder to do so. The last thing I remember is closing my eyes, but feeling relaxed.

Throughout the whole dream i was scared to death until the very last moments.

oh man i would like that to be my dream, the part with the speeding on the wrong side of the road, thats what i do best speeding

dont watch scary movies, it happens to me all the time, i watch a zombie movie that night and there goes the scary dream, where i wake up and go to work and the warehouse is full of zombies, coincidence? maybe and i am fighting them off with some forklifts, box cutters and lead pipes... it doesnt sound like much of a weapon but its better than nothing, unlike the movie where you kill them by shooting them in the head, these dream zombies were hard to kill... and the scary thing is i had this dream that the workplace was full of zombies the night before work.

sometimes i have dreams that have maybe 4 or 5 scenes rolled up into one kinda like a movie... one moment i am on a plane trying to land it and the next i am shooting hostiles in a garage, or i am in this faculity where these scientists are walking around and i am spying on them or i am celebrating some kind of party at work for something

sometimes also i see and talk to actors in my dreams, like the show Fringe, had Peter bishop in my dream and he was mad that some guy who he said was his dad abused him when he was little and he wanted to get revenge, its weird

Last night I dreamt that the local news weather girl was sneaking around my house plotting to blow it up...then I sprouted wings.

i had a few dreams last night, first i was on a strange island, where i was walking with everyone and suddenly i heard a loud sound and a freight train derailed in back of me and it hit a reservior and the water and the train hurled towards me, and i was runnning to escape it. i remember getting to the end of the island just like the one on the tv show (Lost) and i turned right and there were apartment buildings with kids playing basketball, so ofcourse i went that way. Then when i entered the court, there was a little scuffle between me and a few of the kids about something, and while we were fighting, that tital wave came and instead of going into the ocean it curved right and towards me. Then the sky darkened and the thunderstorm rolled in, but as we hid in a cave the clouds barracked the door way. Then i found myself driving a car, running from a crazy person in a tractor trailor, this guy was doing top speed, and then suddenly the scene went to another scene where i was just standing around and there was a foot pursuit in front of me between two kids and the cops.... the one cop comes up to me and he asked me if i saw where they went and i was like that way, and so me and the cops started the search... then i easily spotted the kids and i was trying to tell the cops that i have found them but they didnt listen to me, its as if i was talking to myself and then everything went black and i woke up.....

this is the same dream i had a few months ago, the same exact dream with the same people and the same events, no skipping of any events

Wow SBG, I'm tellin' ya, you could write a book out of that dream! It sounded so weird!
