May Day is celebrated in many countries in many different ways. It is an ancient spring festival and often a public holiday.
Some of the ways it is celebrated is by performing the may pole dance, music, singing and food, picking a May Queen to preside. It is often used to celebrate Spring and as a ritual to promote fertility in crops, animals, people. Some countries honor workers/laborers on May Day. More unique ways to celebrate are jumping from a bridge, parades (of people or motorcycles), carnivals, dressing up as witches, lighting bonfires.
