Lauren Smith Gone, Baby, Gone was great! That scene when they find the little boy in the bath was so horrible though, very sad :(

How did you feel about the ending? I was on Angie's side - they should have left that kid with the old couple.

I know what you mean Lauren, I loved the book so much and rarely do I give a book 10/10, but it was justified with this book. It was very sad, but it is also a reality today, and there are people who would do thigns to a child. For people like that there should be no second chances.

I also agree with Angie and felt her pain, as to let the child go back from a loving home into the arms of her pathetic mother was another tragedy. Yet at the same time Doyle was involved in the murders of people also and he could not be allowed to get away with it. I wished they could have thought about the childs interests first.A "Biological " mother does not mean the best mother.

message 54: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Yeah, the bit at the end when Patrick goes to see the child suggests he made the wrong choice.

Hey Emma and Lauren...
I think I've seen Gone Baby Gone, but now you've both made me want to read the book... I'll have to go and get it (maybe if he gets chosen for author of the month I'll at least have a book :))

I'm starting to wonder if I should read Beastly????

Hi Niecole, I have also seen th film Gone Baby Gone, but didnt like it, the book is far better as with the case of many Movie adaptations.

You might enjoy Beastly Niecole, the one good point is that you probably will finish it in a day, so if you dont like it it wouldnt have taken up too much of your time.

message 60: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I agree with you about the Gone, Baby, Gone film Emma. They follow the plot fairly closely, but the actors are all wrong, and Patrick and Angie just don't have the same spunk that they do in the books, they're a bit boring.

Ditto Beastly. I can't remember the last time I was able to read a book that fast. However, if it was any slower I might have given up on it early on.

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks for the advice guys :)
I think I might enjoy Gone Baby Gone because I love crime novels...

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments 88. Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card 6/10 not bad

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

Mmmm I've been wondering about this book...

message 68: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I had a problem with the attitude toward violence in the book, specifically the idea that the solution to hostility is to decimate your antagonist. That sounds like the kind of reasoning behind America's nuclear bombing of Japan and their war in Iraq.

Aside from that though, I have to admit it was a very thought-provoking and entertaining novel. I've been considering bumping my rating from 2 to 3 - I think I was being a bit harsh.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

I've heard good things, and now some bad things about this book, and I'm starting to think it might just not be the right book for me to read...

98. Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper 8/10 A very funny book, quite similar to Sookie books but the humor is far better in this book.
