Cloudcover I want to know about how you think this book relates to the soldiers coming home from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. For me, it was a little strange watching friends and fellow soldiers go through the processes Dr. Shay talked about in the book.

Debbie Moorhouse allo super-users united!

Please delete this book:

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26...#

It's an "empty" edition originally added as O'Brien instead of O'Brian. I've combined it with all its Post Captain friends but it refuses to die.

Thanks!

and baby proof

Books need to be deleted so they will combine with another edition. No identifying information and too many reviews to delete.

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments This book has 23 reviews - should be merged

This book should be deleted and This one too

And then this and this should be combined with Daddy Long Legs

Too many reviews for me to do the first part.

This book needs to be deleted.

This Choke and this Choke needs to be deleted.

I took care of it, but that required no deletion. Just merging the "different" authors and then combining the editions.

I'd appreciate it if we could keep this thread for books requiring deletion. Thanks!

Ashley (ashleym) | 145 comments There are six editions of Stephenie Meyer's "Eclipse" that seem to be blank duplicates - very little info, no ISBN, nothing unique - but have too many reviews to be deleted. So here goes :)
Here,
Here,
Here,
Here,
Here,
and here...that last one has something in the description field, but it seems to be the jacket flap info.

Thanks!!

Goodness, 6 of 17! A couple had additional info (series, characters, etc.), but I copied it all onto the primary edition before I zapped 'em.

Otis, I'll send you an email shortly.

message 20: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Ok, I have a question. I've been looking around and trying to start work and I came across a bunch of book editions that look identical. But they have different ISBNs. They're already combined and I'm not going to delete them because I guess they are different editions.

Here's one example:

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35...

and

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...

In this case it might be because one is linked to Oprah's book club and the other is not?

I'm going to err on the side of doing nothing rather than making mistakes by changing things.

I'll try to get to the the books when members give alerts to GR librarians, and when it's obvious that fixes are needed.

message 21: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
If they have unique ISBNs, they don't get deleted. Most of the to-deletes have no ISBN at all. (As for those two, when you're Oprah, they print a new edition just for you. ;) )

message 22: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Thanks. That's what I figured but I appreciate all the education I can get.

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments The Hobbit.

Rivka, are you the only super librarian? I need to stop finding these. They jump out at me though.

this Fellowship of the Rings needs to be deleted then this one should be merged back with the rest of the Fellowship of the Rings

message 24: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
I disagree with you on that Hobbit. It is unique -- different publisher/year than any other edition I saw (I confess to having only looked at ~ 1/2), and it lacks an ISBN because of when it was published.

Good catch on the FotR. The fact that GR fails to recognize ISBNs with dashes as being the same as ones without is an issue on occasion.

Lisa and Michael also have their fingers on the red button these days. ;)

message 25: by Melody (new)

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments Ah yes. The original publisher of the Hobbit. Sorry about that one.

Ashley (ashleym) | 145 comments I was surprised to see so many too - and there are just as many (and more) for her other novels. I'll link to them here as well, so if you're bored you'll have something to do ;)

New Moon:
New Moon
New Moon
New Moon
New Moon

As well as Twilight:
Twilight
Twilight
Twilight
Twilight
Twilight - this one has a duplicate ISBN
Twilight
Twilight - the description of this is the same as the most popular edition's
Twilight
Twilight
Twilight
Twilight
Twilight

Phew! Sorry to dump all these in here, they've been bugging me for a while and I figured I might as well put them out there for whenever they can be fixed. Thanks!

Then put it back together with the whole listing for this book.

Then delete these Spanish versions: El Amor en los tiempos del colera

message 35: by Ashley (last edited Apr 16, 2008 06:45AM) (new)

Ashley (ashleym) | 145 comments Ok, So Peony in Love has something going on...the most popular edition is actually incorrect:
Peony
...it has the ISBN-13 in the ISBN-10 slot, and the next edition:
Peony
which has the correct ISBNs isn't the most popular. I'm not sure if you can delete the most popular edition, or if it would be easier to swap the info around. Other editions of this that should be deleted:
Peony
Peony
Peony - this is an audio edition, so perhaps it should be separated out with the existing audio edition and merged with that one first.

And while we're on the topic of Lisa See, these can be deleted as well:
Snowflower and the Secret Fan
Snowflower
Snowflower
Snowflower
Snowflower
Snowflower
Snowflower

Thank you!!

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments This version of Julius Ceasar should be deleted.

And this version of Princess Acadamy.

And this version of Book of 1000 days.

message 43: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Melody, Why? It has an ISBN number. Is it a duplicate?

And all the editions of Julius Ceasar have publication dates of 2002. Think it's about 1599 but nobody knows, I don't think. But that's another story.

Should we clean up all the Shakespeare dates?

message 44: by rivka, Former Moderator (last edited Apr 16, 2008 03:04PM) (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
It did not have a real ISBN -- it had a duplicate ISBN with extra junk afterwards.

Cleaning up Shakespeare dates is probably a good thing. :)

Oh, and I took care of those three.

message 45: by Lisa (last edited Apr 16, 2008 03:10PM) (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Thanks Rivka. I should work on this stuff when I'm not too tired, which means not today.

Shakespeare and dates = not a definite. But anything would be better than 2002! :-)
