message 1306: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Malmquist | 160 comments I agree on both! I've seen most of the classic rockers and even a few classical shows, blues guitarists, motown, a couple of jazz artists...even some of the very old original rockers that are now all gone. My favorite is Queen.

Gary Sundell | 1191 comments Just listened to Suites from William Walton's score to Hamlet and Maurice Jarre's score to Lawrence of Arabia. Now listening to Jerry Goldsmith's Patton theme. I saw Goldsmith conducting the Detroit Symphony Orchestra a number of years ago.

message 1308: by Lisa (new)

Gary Sundell | 1191 comments Four most recent listens:
The Highwayman performed by Ashley Campbell. The classic Jimmy Webb song which was first released by Ashley's dad, Glen. Ashley does a great job on the song.

I followed that with two versions of Glen playing The William Tell Overture, one on 12 string electric guitar the other on acoustic guitar.

I finished off with an instrumental version of Ghost Riders in the Sky with Glen Campbell and Roy Clark showing why they were two of the best guitar pickers ever to pick up the instrument.

Christine, those of us who are older (that's me) and from Irish heritage (me, as well) listened to the Clancy Brothers when we were younger. Liam had a lovely way of presenting a song.

Every day, we (three of us) play our I pods, usually mine, with different music for the whole day.

In a massive warehouse, with large speakers, it helps with the never ending lifting of archive boxes.

So today

The Beatles
Lily Allen
Goldfrapp
Amy Macdonald
Yello
Tina Arena
Yes

How that for different
