The narration moves back and forth both in time and between different characters. Did this affect your reading experience?

I usually can only read alittle at a time, so that made it difficult to remember which time and character I was reading. However, when I had more time to read, the narration was relatively easy to follow. It helped that the chapters consistently alternate between Marie-Laure and Werner.
