Ok, here's my starter post.

Ok, book 1 is in the bag, as they say. It was a re-read, but one that I enjoy, because of the humour in the story.

Altho I've used this in a total of THREE different challenges. lol

I love, love, love Katie MacAlister's sense of humour. While the dragon books aren't as funny as some of her other series, they are still a light-hearted series.

And another one down. Yes, I'm a fast reader. This was book 3 i n this series. I have in my book list that I'd already read it--but since I honestly do NOT remember it, I'm thinking it was probably something that I read the first time while sitting in hospital with my father-in-law while he was dieing. NOT a good time for memory, if you know what I mean?

Nice Girls Don't Live Forever got 5 stars from me. Its book 3 in the "Nice Girls Don't" series. The stories all centre around Jane Jameson, a former librarian who, on the day she gets fired so her supervisor can give her job to her step-daughter gets shot (she's mistaken for a deer by a drunken red-neck) turned to a vamp by the sexy guy she had just met while taking advantage of the $50 gift certificate to a local bar (which was her severance package) and then sets off to try to learn to live as a vamp.

Ok, I will admit--this series is kind of warped, which might be why I like it so much. Vamps are "outed" by a tax accountant who didn't see why being undead should prevent him from continuing the job he loved. So he went to court, PROVED he was a vamp and won rights for the undead. lol, I mean, what's NOT to love about a series that starts with that premis, yes?

In the Nice Girls books, as I said the action all centres around Jane Jameson and her very small Kentucky home town of Half Moon Hollow. Included in the cast is Jane's long time best friend, and the ultimate Metrosexual male Zeb, his girlfriend (then wife) the were-wolf Jolene and her entire red-neck, beer guzzling pack/family of hillbilly were-wolves, Jane's Great-Aunt Tillie, who hasn't let being a ghost get in the way of her love life, Jane's Sire, Gabriel, Gabriel's favourite frenemy, Daniel, and a cast of hundreds.

Robin Popp's third book in her Night Slayers series Tempted in the Night deals with a serial killer who accidentally gets turned into a vampire. He then gets chased by the police officer who had tried to get him off the streets (Daddy bought off someone to "lose" some of the evidence from the police locker), the vampire who bit him--and was interrupted before he could stake him to keep him from coming back to life--and an English vampire hunter. Darker than a PNR, but not as dark as UF, but still a very good read.

Ordered this book off Amazon this weekend (well, a used book seller through Amazon) based on your recommendation. it sounds great! you are really kicking right along - I thought I was doing well by finishing three, but you are putting me to shame girl!! *LOL*

Hi Ann

I have not read anything by Christine Warren but I see you have read several of her books. What is her style and which book would you recommend to start?

I enjoy fantasy/horror/romance similar to Christine Feehan, Charlaine Harris etc. but did not get on with Carrie Vaughn or Mary Janice Davidson. Do you think I would like CW?

Vaughn

Vaughn--The books I've read are part of a series. The series is another of those "the supernatural creatures have come out of the closet, casket etc." series. But its also more than a touch funny. She has vamps, fae, shape shifters of all kinds, demons. . .

She's more serious than MJ Davidson, I don't know about Carrie Vaughn. Haven't thought about comparing those 2.

But I too enjoyed Feehan and harris--so you might like them.

I am in awe of how much you read.

So am I. I thought a person I know on another books that read in the low 20's in a month was unbelieveable but that is nothing compared to 49 books in a month.

Yes I have to think you must read all day. That is more than one book a day. Is it hard to keep the story lines straight? If I read too many that is what happens to me. ;) Do you mainly like cozy books or do you read other genres and nonfiction? I would like to know your secret for reading.

Ann, I forgot to ask, can you recommend a vampire type book that is not a romance really. I need a horror book for a challenge I am doing and it can have vampires but I didn't care for Twilight and the later Laurell K Hamilton books are a bit much. Any recommendations?

Romantic Suspense and romance I can get though faster than mysteries, thrillers and such. I'm not into horror when it comes to super scary. I did a King once but wasn't too crazy about it. I do like stuff like Charline Harris and her Sookie series. Need to catch up with her books. At the moment I'm trying to read books that I know will go fast. If I pulled one of the Nora Roberts books off the shelve most likely it would take me longer than a day. If they are the thinner reissues I can do them something in a day. I have done danielle steel in a day a few times but mostly they take longer. I'm reading a Tara Janzen book and it hasn't grabbed me so it's easy to put down and not pick up even though it's a romantic suspense book. Which kind of surprises me since I have no problem with other's like it I've read. If I do a erotic romance those I can zip though. Last year I did alot of romance and romantic suspense and this year I want to get more of a mix you can say. Not sticking with so much of the one type. Would have no problem reading a Foster in a day. By the way need to get the new one if it's out yet which I think it is. Debbie Macomber I could probably do in a day but it's never happened yet. Not that I tried too. CHC and MHC maybe but Lately MHC even when I have to read it fast for my sister it's taken me at least 2 or 3 days. Not full days of reading. Carol I'm behind on. I've met Mary 5 times and Carol probably 2 or 3 times.

KrisT--the Sookie Stackhouse books are good. Dead Until Dark. Its actually more a mystery than horror, and, while there is a little mystery, not a lot.

There is, of course, the classics if you like those. Dracula and Carmilla are both good reads for that.

Donnajo--I tend to read a little of everything. And no, I don't have a problem keeping details straight. I have a very good memory for the written word (not so much the spoken tho) and can usually give a very good recap of any book I've read. :o)

I bought the first Carrie Vaughn book yesterday after seeing so many people reading that series. I hope to read it soon. No wonder I never spotted it before it was in sf and that area and the times I'm looking that area is for Harris's sookie books which I'm behind so need to catch up with. I should pull the next one out of her's that I have to read. I'm terrible with remembering things. I keep my book journal but still if I read a certain book and then my sister might read it and finish it a few weeks later and has a question or something on it I have to have her go over because sometimes if she asks the question right out and I say what book you talking about. I'm not good at remembering names of people in the book.
