There are so many editions of the classics with different kinds of auxiliary material (introduction, critical analysis, etc.) that we treat them as Goodreads does: as editions of the same title. Use your edition following the ebook rules as usual.

Melissa (balletbookworm) | 915 comments So I had a bit of a surprise while listening to The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao - this audiobook edition includes Junot Diaz's first story collection Drown. I checked the track listing against the table of contents for Drown and it is the complete collection, rather than only a few stories. I'm going to go ahead and listen to it (why not?) but I'm wondering how to claim it for a task. I'll be claiming Oscar Wao for 10.6 (it's on the March list). Should I link to this same edition for Drown - since they're part of the same audiobook download - but then note the paperback for length? Or would the mods prefer I link to the separate audiobook edition for Drown (which is the same production attached to the Oscar Wao audiobook) so it's less confusing? TIA for the advice. :)

For 10.6 link to the audiobook and use the ebook/audio rules to determine page numbers- it is helpful if you include the link

To use the Drown complete story collection, link to the audio you used, identify Drown as the isolated part in the collected work and include a print link to Drown Los boys MMPB

Thanks Dlmrose :) (I figured it would be handled sort of like omnibus rules but since it was an audiobook and not immediately clear from the metadata that there were two books in the download...oy. Thanks for the advice! :) )

Wanda (wanda71) | 1770 comments I forgot to claim a book that I recently posted as a big book. May I repost and just claim the book (Including the task number) or do I have to repost all the information from the original post?

Repost with all the information for the task, but note at the top of your post that you are reposting only for a BB ticket, so that Dlmrose doesn't have to re-review your post.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4448 comments So ... how long do we give a task creator to respond to a question in the help thread? Do the moderators step in at a certain point?

You can bump up a post, it's easy to miss notifications. Task creators have 5 days during the season

Task creators are expected to respond in 5 days. If you've had a question pending longer than that, post here, and one of us will contact the task creator.

Keep in mind that a lot of people have had problems with notifications - this is something that keeps being discussed in the GR Feedback thread. So, if you let us know, we'll message the creator directly, and that may help.

Sandy ... it's task 25.10. I asked about a cover item on July 12.

I know the notifications have been a bit wonky lately, so maybe she hasn't gotten notified... so I did post a "reminder" on Friday July 17.

Thank you.

Tara | 391 comments I couldn't find a reference to this specifically so I wanted to verify to ensure this works.

If I read a book earlier in this season's challenge (in June 2015) and haven't used it for any task, and that book now works for the 50.1 task, am I able to use claim it? I haven't had this scenario in the past so I wanted to confirm this would still work. Thanks!

message 63: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8954 comments yes you can - you can also move books from other tasks around if you want (making suitable substitutions)

message 64: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 466 comments I've never run into this before. Does a book have to have page numbers listed on goodreads? I just read Ticket To Ride: Lost And Found In America which has 366 pages, but I can't verify that info on goodreads or on amazon. Should I ask for help in the goodreads' librarians section? Thanks.

message 65: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 738 comments If you have a copy in hand, a librarian will edit the info for you. Book in hand evidence trumps websites anyway.

I'll edit it for you. But to answer your question, yes, you can post in the "anyone with librarian status..." thread for things like that :)

Jennifer W | 466 comments Thank you, Cait!!

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 855 comments I've read the Kindle version of Seducing Charlotte, my edition of the book has the same cover as the paperback version. Seducing Charlotte

the task I'm using it for is a cover task (25.13 op 3)

message 68: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 738 comments I'll fix it, Christina. (But y'all really should post this stuff in the librarian thread, not the general question post since I don't think that's what the mods meant this thread for :) Also you'll probably get faster help that way most of the time.)

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 855 comments It occurred to me much later that the issue was more suited for the librian thread.

Thanks!
