Sarah (goosers34) I plan on reading 52 books this year (one a week). My challenge started Feb 28, 2008. I think I must have inadvertenly deleted my original challenge, so I am re-posting. I will be reading from my own personal selections (PL) and from the modern library's top 100 list(both the critics' choice (CC) and the readers' choice(RC).) Each of those will have their corresponding # listed.

Since Feb. 28th I have read:
1: Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (PL)
2: Little Children by Tom Perrotta(PL)
3:Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald (CC 28)
4:The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (PL)
5:Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy (RC 54)

Sarah (goosers34) 6:A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving (RC 28)

I loved this book. and it looks like I am really behind on my challenge, so I have to get those pages turning!

Sarah (goosers34) 7: Loving Frank by Nancy Horan (PL)

This was interesting in that it is a historical fiction memoir about Frank Lloyd Wright's mistress and one great love. It made me curious about the architect and what was true/made-up in the novel.

Sarah (goosers34) 8: The Postman Always Rings Twice by James Cain (CC 98)

Sarah (goosers34) 11: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (PL)

This was about as good as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. If you liked that book, read this one. I, however, cared very little for both.

Sarah (goosers34) 24:The Vintage Book of Contemporary American Short Stories edited by Tobias Wolff. (PL)

I started this about 5 years ago while taking a Writing Short Fiction class at the College of Charleston. and I picked it back up to finish the unread stories about a year ago. I have been slowly working my way through it. And I must say that some of the stories I read on my own out-shone the ones my professor assigned.
