message 7: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 680 comments Do titles like the following work? I assume yes but since they're the same words figured I'd ask. I have other options as well but wanted to check.

Absalom, Absalom!
Lucia, Lucia

Yes those are fine.

Donna Jo wrote: "Will you allow the K/hard C Initial sound combination, as in A different Kind of Cowboy?

"
For the purposes of this task it needs to have the same letter.

message 9: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments I thought for this challenge there couldn't be any other words except and, the, of, etc. So a Tale of Two Cities wouldn't work b/c of Cities??

Juniper (jooniperd) Hi Cynthia.

Could you clarify if the examples posted by Cait and Donna Jo are all acceptable? My interpretation of the task was each word of the title had to be part of the alliteration, with the exceptions of words like 'a', 'the' and perhaps 'of'.

Thanks!

message 13: by Krista (last edited Nov 16, 2009 01:43PM) (new)

Krista (kacey14) I've come across a couple more books that would fit this task:

Playing For Pizza A Novel by John Grisham
Lucy's Launderette by Betsy Burke

I read Lucy's Launderette a few years ago, and I remember it as a fairly enjoyable chick-lit book.

As long as there is two words that begin with the same letter in the title and if there is a word between them it is only (a, the, and etc.) it's ok if there are other words at the beginning or the end so...
Ex.
The Trial - not okay
Sex as a Second Language A Novel - not okay
Don't Look Down - not okay
The Time Traveler's Wife - okay
Burning Bright - okay
Breakfast in Bed - okay

Krista (kacey14) Hi Cynthia:

Would Dark Desires After Dusk be OK or is the word "after" too big for this task?

Thanks!

message 18: by Petra (new)

Petra Cynthia, would The Wake of the Wind A Novel work for this task?

message 19: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) | 1332 comments Petra wrote: "Cynthia, would The Wake of the Wind A Novel work for this task? "No because it has more than one word in between the two w words

Krista wrote: "Hi Cynthia:

"
Yes because it has dark desires at the front

message 20: by Petra (new)

Petra Okay! Thanks!

Amy Another 2 suggestions -
Stand the Storm by Breena Clarke
July, July by Tim O'Brien

message 23: by Deedee (new)

Deedee | 2345 comments How about: Will in the World How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare by Stephen Greenblatt?

message 24: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) | 1332 comments Deedee wrote: "How about: Will in the World How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare by Stephen Greenblatt?"

No because will and world are separated by more than one word and became is too long a word for the two Shakespeares to work.

Case of the Grinning Gorilla
The Case of the Terrified Typist
Some Women Won't Wait
The Case of the Caretaker's Cat
Case of the Cautious Coquette

Heidi, if it doesn't work for this task, can you fit it into BJ Rose's task (Snowed in & loving it)? That's a great catch-all task.

Night | 57 comments Is this book ok? Tartan Tragedy aka The Wild Island

The copy I owned has only 'Tartan Tragedy' on the front which suits this task perfectly, or so I thought. I just found out that it was renamed.

Really hate when they rename the titles. I almost bought two copies of new GM Ford's novels by mistake.
