When The Weather Keeps You Housebound, Make The Most Of It! Grab Books By Your Favorite Authors - Or Try Some New Ones - And Read 825 Pages Or More. Any Genre! No Re-Reads For This, But Audiobooks Are Fine. List The Books You Read & # Of Pages For Each When Claiming Your Points.

If you need suggestions for books to read for this task post a request here.

Tanya D (mtlbookworm) | 144 comments Just gotta say that I'm loving this task!

What a great way to finish off some of the books I bought for the Fall Challenge that I never got around to reading, and which don't fit anywhere else!

Thanks BJ!!

Nicki (luluminstrel) | 279 comments I love this one too! I have a book I really really want to read but it didn't fit anywhere.

Thanks so much BJ :)

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 185 comments I don't know how much I'll actually be able to do this go-round since I'll be busy back in grad school, but I managed to find Gone with the Wind on audio and had wanted to fit it somehow into the Winter Challenge (time permitting). It's over 1,000 pages I believe--I know it's about 49 hours of listening time at least. The question is, for this task, is the intention to be multiple books that would add up to the 825 page requirement, or could one book satisfy the requirement, such as Gone with the Wind?

Thanks! Great Winter task, BJ Rose :) (and loved your president challenge from the Fall challenge!)

message 6: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 811 comments Kari, any number of books that you need to meet the minimum requirement of 825 pages. If you do it all in one book, you're good to go!

Kim | 119 comments I love this task. I have quite a few books on the shelf that I fancied reading next month- now I can make them fit into this task.

Sara (hoot31) Great task BJ Rose! Thanks! It allowed me to move a few things around on my list.

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 185 comments Thanks, BJ Rose. Glad for this task since it'll make it easiest to fit this book in now.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments *dance parties* Why? Because this is awesome. I was able to get in 3 books that I've wanted to put in the challenge but now can!

I'm gonna snuggle with a blanket and hot chocolate when reading most of them!

Krista (kacey14) I LOVE this task too! Maybe Cynthia could think about adding this catch-all task to the challenges going forward. It's sure nice to read a book that doesn't fit anywhere in a task but is desperately calling to you!

Thanks BJ Rose.

Dionisia (therabidreader) | 329 comments Hi BJ Rose!

I wanted to know if there was a page requirement per book read for the task. I would love to read The Book of Words by Jenny Erpenbeck but its 96 pages long. The other book I plan to read is 784 pages long. Is this OK as long I reach the total required?

The requirement is # of total pages - you can do it in one book or 10!
Only other requirement is 'no rereads'.

message 16: by Dionisia (new)

Dionisia (therabidreader) | 329 comments Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have wanted to read these two books badly and so glad I could finally fit them in a challenge task.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Umm... I just want to 42nd everyone's comments: This task is AWESOME! It's like: "Oh crap... I wanted to read THIS book for the challenge... OH WAIT, I CAN, because BJ Rose is AWESOME!"

My task may be pretty (check out those colors, baby!), but this task is better!

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 811 comments Thanks, Ladies, for the many thanks!!!

Sara, I'm feeling pretty AWESOME right now! Many thanks for that ego-booster!!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3043 comments I have a question do we have to read one book that is 825 pages or more or can it be multiple books equaling 825 pages or more?

multiple books are fine

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3043 comments well that does make it a little easier.

Sarah (Mood Reader) (bookworm1887) | 458 comments Do quiz books count if they are 100 pages in length? I got some books for my birthday and would like to use them.

message 23: by Ashley FL (new)

Ashley FL | 721 comments I just want to echo the comments here -- as my list of "to reads" to finish is dwindling, and my stacks of "I can't wait to read this!" are growing, I am appreciating this task more and more.

Thank you!

message 24: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 811 comments Happy Birthday, Sarah!
I have no problems with your quiz books - maybe when you claim your points, you'll share some of the Q & A's with us?!

Ashley, thanks for the appreciation - altho I still have plenty of books on my TBR shelves, many of them seem to fit the same challenge over and over, so I'm also very glad I can enjoy them and claim points.

message 25: by Ashley FL (new)

Ashley FL | 721 comments Haha --- that's my problem: something I read for a task makes me want to read MORE of it (right now I'm on cozy mysteries), but I have to, instead, read other things to finish the other tasks!

Oh well -- not such a bad problem to have!

I love cozy mysteries! I usually have an Amelia Peabody or Hamish MacBeth available on my iPod
