I'm so glad you liked it, Jim! I'm up to the third one myself. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series too!

Sorry about the duplication on You Slay Me. I forgot to check the Monthly Challenge thread before posting a recommendation.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Amanda - Having two great recommendations avoided any problem. Read them both and enjoyed them both. You chose well. Thank you.

Michelle Gilmore Tosca, thanks for recommending Storm Front. I apologize that it took so long for me to read it. I finally finished it today. Overall, I felt it was a pretty good book with a few unexpected turns and events. Although I do plan on reading the next in the series at some point, I only gave this one two stars. It took a little while for me to get interested, but I've been told its the weakest in the series and to get through the 2nd and 3rd books. I really enjoy novels where the main character, despite having magical powers or whatever, isn't invincible. I think Harry's vulenerability makes him a likeable chararacter. I just kept thinking to myself, "if this were a movie, this would be great." I vaguely remember watching an episode or two of The Dresden Files(?) on tv, and I'm wondering if that somehow influenced my opinion. Thanks again for the rec, and feel free to make another recommendation any time. It felt good to read something outside of my comfort zone.

Just letting you know I've started reading Andersen's Nightkeepers. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to finish it before December ends.

Will post later what I think of it.

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Wow i almost didn't make it this time around! I was caught up on 2 different series that i started reading earlier this month, but i took a little break and read Nerd in Shining Armor. While it was a good book and i really enjoyed the humor i don't think i fully appreciated the story. I'll have to do a re-read later when i can fully dedicate myself to the entire series. I'm pretty sure that the fact i was in a paranormal kick this month didn't help. Thanks for recommending it Michelle!

Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't read it too. This month, I've been reading so slow! And I know what you mean about being on the paranormal kick. When that happens, reading anything else starts to feel like work, lol!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish If I want to get in on this, is it too late? Also, if someone picks for you, how long do you have to read it? I mean, is there a Jan pick it?

As far as I know UM, we usually have until late in the previous month to join up and then we have the whole month to read the book recommended to us. For example for January's pick-it-for-me the deadline to join is 29th December.

Once you have joined you just have to wait to see who you pick for - usually you give them about 3 options. You also receive your recommendation from someone else. The moderators decide early on who picks for who. It is fun and I've got to read books I normally would never have picked up and enjoyed them!!

This is the link to January - have fun!

Hey, sister mine! This month it's done for signing up, but you can do it for next month. Come and join us!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish YAY! Thanks Library Lass and Rossy, Sister Mine! Maybe I'll get lucky have to re-read a BDB book? ROFL!

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Hey Cherra - I read Charlotte Featherstone's book and spent most of it bawling my eyes out! It's so sad. With a happy ending but so sad. Between his addiction and his feelings for her and her not knowing what the heck was up with him and then figuring it out and wow. I was exhausted by the end of the book LOL I've been a big historical romance reading binge the last couple of months and it fit right in. Thank you for that recommendation. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of her work. I see that Sinful, featuring the Earl of Wallingford, is due out 2010 sometime. YAY!

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Michelle, aww sorry to hear the 1st book wasn't totally what you were into. I hope, when you do carry on the series, that the rest live up to the hype. Would so suck if they didn't heh.

I loved Addicted!!! That's the first book that I've read in a long time where I was near tears one minute, then mad as hell the next. It was in a pile to trade and the used bookstore, and I just couldn't part with it. I'm really excited about reading Sinful when it comes out.

I don't doubt that I'll enjoy the rest of the series. I didn't realize until I read Storm Front that I've never read any urban fantasy or pnr with a male protagonist. Shame on me! I need to broaden my horizons!

Hey Debbie, there's a Jan pick it for me thread already started. I pretty sure that the deadline line to sign up ends sometime tonight :)

message 118: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Ok Jim, I forgot all about reporting back here. I thought I've done that long ago. Silly me. That's obviously not the case. But I'm here now to ammend.

I've read the The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. I even followed it up with the sequel, and now I have the 3rd part stashed for later. It's surprisingly graphic and erotic and out there (**blushes**), not that I minded much. **blushes some more**

Now Lem, I also went out and got me some Lem. I picked a really twisted one, but that was good too. 've been meaning to write a review for it... Any day now.

So altogether great picks, Photojim. Thanks a lot!

message 119: by Kasia (new)

Kasia PS. Sign-up for January is now closed guys, so you can make your recommendations anytime.

Ari (moochew12) | 159 comments Emily!
I just finished Remember Me? And it was great, so funny. I loved her humor especially with the whip cream. LOL. Eric was definitely an interesting guy, but I think Jon was better for her. Thanks for the recommendation! I think I may read some other things by this author. I remember reading Can you keep a Secret? But that one I didn't enjoy to much. None the less, this was great, so thanks so much!=D

'

I got the Sleeping Beauty books for Christmas. I've always heard they were 'interesting' and now I'll confirm for myself. Do you think it's odd that a woman I know gave the boxed set to my wife and I (with both our names on the tag) with a card saying, 'I hope you both find this enjoyable'? Is it odder that she gave it to us at a family function?

message 122: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Odd? Yes. Daring? Definitely. Amusing? Hell yes.

You have fun friends, I would never dare to bring it to a family function, there's no need to shock my mother. 'Intersting' is a very gentle way describe this book.

And now I curious what both you and your wife will think of it. **grins**

message 123: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Oh, almost forgot, here's what I thought of the Lem book I read for this challenge, if anyone's interested.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Cathy,

I finished Jessica Andersen's Nightkeepers on the last day of the year. Made it. :)

It was a pretty solid book. Well written and definitely heavily researched. I find the romance buried underneath the information dumping, although I did warm up to the hero and heroine at the later part.

Not enough to get a 5 stars from me, but I'm more than happy to grant it 4, and add the next book to my TBR list.

Again, thanks for the recommendation.
