Hi!
My ebook, currently free to download on Amazon :)
Survivors: Secrets
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011...
Lacey Young is a survivor. So is her sister, her best friend, and all the other young adults they share a hotel with now that the world has ended.
Lacey Young is a leader. That’s why when the lives of her crew and the people she loves become endangered, she must go against the odds and fight to take back what is theirs.
However, with secrets and betrayal as common as the grains of sand that smother the landscape, what once appeared to be a big problem threatens to become a tragedy. Blood is spilled, friendships are tested, and all the while the lurking threat that’s responsible for sending the world into chaos is closer than they all think.
Lacey has a secret. A secret she’s been repressing and hiding from those closest to her. It’s a secret that she knows can help save her friends and bring back some small semblance of peace.
But at what cost?
Thanks!

Chapter 12: Image Reconstruction on Color Subpixelated Displays
This is where I explain how my invention, PenTile subpixel rendering, works. (Your cellphone, tablet, or notebook PC may already be using this technology! Google it to learn more.)
I also have a contributed essay in Kay Koplovitz's new book, Been There, Run That:

At the moment, I'm writing a SciFi novel entitled, All the Stars are Suns. As I'm a technologist/entrepreneur with 40 years experience, my book will be "Hard SciFi" in that everything will be based on real physics, biology, and psychology. (I have a strong background in all three fields.) But as Arthur C. Clarke pointed out, a sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. As I plan on writing this as a series, future books will blend with fantasy and magic, but only if you don't understand the tech!
You can, if you like, read a VERY informal prolog (it would NOT actually be in the book) that I posted on my creative writing section here on goodreads...

I look forward to interacting with other writers here.

We all have dirty little secrets, don’t we? When Sam Sinclair is called home to help solve the murder of a fellow law enforcer, he assumes the motive was revenge. Within hours, this case quickly becomes everything but straightforward. As the evidence points to deviance of the most horrific kind, they realise that a new breed of killer is stalking the streets of Sam’s home city. Fear grips the people of Alimenika and even the most hardened of criminals are terrified into silence.
A fetish is just harmless fun, until someone dies of course and as more victims come to light, Sam and his team must delve into the darkest side of man’s nature before they can hope to stop this monster’s reign of terror. Swept along by the most unsettling case of his career, the killer’s insidious influence makes Sam doubt himself as never before.
As his personal life is turned upside down, he suddenly becomes the killer’s latest plaything. Unable to free himself and battling the rising panic, the accusation of his own deviance forces him to examine his actions during those terrible four hours, almost twenty years ago.

Description: John E. Boyd, a young man obsessed with the Great Emigration from city-Earth, pursues the lost team of Guanjo. He begins an intrepid journey toward that eerily silent outpost when he books passage on a commercial liner, then joins a tramp steamer’s beastly crew, and finally haggles with vengeful pirates for a small craft to make his final light-shift. He meets wildly eccentric people along the way, some threatening and some endearing, but all human. His fascination is to encounter a truly alien race – to discover the first non-human intelligence.
He discovers more than he ever wanted on Guanjo.

Debut dystopian/post-apocalyptic novel, The Apostates by Lars Teeney.

However, the President John W. Schrubb Administration has been losing its grip on power. Murmurs and rumors of a resistance group of Apostates emanate from "Database" dens in the slums, financed by a mysterious source, are said to be scheming to free the people. In the future, with the oceans dying, Olga is engineered from birth to live at sea and work for a giant seafood company. She is lonely and jealous of her married shipmates, thinking that she’ll never meet a man in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Fate has other plans and will drop an industrious, independent fisherman in her lap. That would be great except there are people trying to kill them both. How will they survive long enough to know if they are the perfect match?
Toivo is struggling trying to make a living catching what few wild tuna are left in the ocean and even though he has the help of two dolphins, things are not going so well. If he only knew the danger he was sailing into and what the fates had in store.
Action, adventure and romance wrapped up in a near-future science fiction account that might be possible and suggests one way that seafood can remain plentiful in the face of over-fishing.

Mark Rounds is one of the best new authors I've come across in quite some time.
The whole zombie apocalypse theme usually has me rolling my eyes and reaching for a more realistic genre - involving vampires, time travelers, honest politicians or werewolves. This book really attempted to lay a believable foundation for the storyline. The author clearly did a great deal of research on medical, police and military protocols. I appreciated how his characters struggled with the ethics of decisions and the reality of dealing with what has the potential to be an extinction level event.
What makes this book unique is that the reason for the plague is not left a complete mystery to the reader. In this book, unlike the rest of the zombie genre, we know this was a bioweapon and the manufacturers of this weapon are actively trying to stop those who have the potential to stop the plague. This book isn't just about the survival of specific characters, it's also a battle between good and intelligent evil.
The characters are generally likeable. I particularly enjoyed the strong female characters and hope Mr. Rounds develops them even further in subsequent books. A great deal of the dialogue was clever and funny. I look forward to the next book and most definitely recommend this one.

Amazon: Gray Matter

A team of scientists is tasked with the exploration of an unusual asteroid orbiting our solar system. Their mission is shrouded in secrecy and made more mysterious by the multifaceted personalities of the team. The irksome Dr. Gray uncovers only bits and pieces of the mission's multi-layered objectives and allows his maverick nature to help him fill in the blanks, while also adding some of his own objectives to the mix. Working with – and against – each other, the colorful crew of the Argo find themselves exploring much more than what their mission briefing proposed. The discovery of a domed structure and its alien technology propels them through space and time in pursuit of their mission goals. Their individual needs and desires compel them as well: Selflessness disguises selfishness, authority masks incompetence, practice is camouflaged by theory. At each step, the consequences of their choices and actions increase exponentially. Theirs becomes the work of lifetimes.

Synopsis
A team led by astrobiologist, Ravi Lakshmi, discovers nine tiny capsules of extraterrestrial origin embedded in an ancient layer of Antarctic ice. When the capsules are found to contain clusters of alien spores, the discovery draws the attention of the military, a clandestine society of women called the Effeminati, and a secret cartel of the world’s wealthiest men known as Aurum Orbis. A clash of power to gain control of the alien life form brings Ravi together with Manisha Roy, a beautiful Effeminati recruit who struggles with a “beast” within. They face death and mental oblivion to reveal an alien design that could alter the future of humanity.

I would welcome your honest feedback for my debut sci-fi "q-cave".

q-cave
q-cave TAKES PLACE IN 2163, where years of trying to terraform Mars have failed, and only a handful of dedicated researchers call the planet home. In a subterranean research facility on Earth, a reclusive, twenty-six-year-old female scientist named Qualia, who has suffered years of brain infusions, manages vast quantum systems, sustaining life on both Earth and Mars. Continuing her research in quantum teleporting, q-porting, it sickens her to watch the covert and unsavory acts of q-port “customers” as they express their anger, lust, jealousy, and greed on unsuspecting hosts. But, after years of secretly watching and obsessing over a loving couple on Mars, Qualia risks and indulges in a q-port of her own, to witness the birth of their first child, Maris, also the first human to be born on Mars.
A small blip on the newsnet about people aging unusually fast is barely noticed, while a once-respected, and now clandestine scientist, conducts experiments within the darkest corners of the universe. Using an alien army pulled from the fabric of space and time, his hunger for power and revenge blind him to the devastating effects of his grandiose schemes. Stopping at nothing, he kidnaps Maris, forcing Qualia to weigh the risks of attempting an untested q-port, which not only could save Maris’s life, but also unlock the mysteries of Qualia’s forgotten childhood and a secret bond the two share. Together, Qualia and Maris, along with David, a young neuroethologist from Mars, race to stop the destruction by confronting an ominous and misunderstood alien species forced into slavery, and the madman that controls them.
Enjoy.
I look forward to reading yours as well.

Kshatput, a young cowherd from Lachvi, an ancient Himalayan village that existed in 249 B.C. travels to an alien planet Seabor where he meets people with supernatural powers. The aliens re-engineer his DNA and wake up his soul and yoke it to their own souls. Kshatput learns that the material universe and all the living souls in it have descended from an ancient divine world - the bor! The bor died to give birth to the universe! The people of Seabor know its divine tale and are a part of it. It is time that the people of Earth also became a part of it! But, that can truly happen only when the DNA of all humans is re-engineered and their souls are woken up like Kshatput's was done! Kshatput is now ready to travel back to Earth and begin the glorious and divine task! A minor complication exists, though! More than 2000 years have passed since Kshatput left Lachvi! The first part of the book is based in the ancient Himalayas- it tells the story of Kshatput when he was still a young cowherd of the village Lachvi, sometime in 249 B.C. The second part of the book is based in modern India- the time is 2049 AD, i.e. when Kshatput has traveled back to Earth! The third part of the book is the tale of the divine bor, as told by Kshatput to a team of leading scientists on Earth!
I have received three reviews that have rated the book 5/5 and they are as below:
Review by: Sharad on Oct. 14, 2015 :
This book is a brilliant and outstanding work of fiction on the subject which I would call as the world of UNKNOWN OR DIVINE. It is imaginative story of a very high order. The amazing narrative is so very thought provoking and engrossing that it literally takes you out of the UNIVERSE AND BEYOND and holds you there even after the narrative ends. A very valuable and interesting contribution to fiction.
Review by: Bart Lapinski on Oct. 12, 2015 :
Just read it. This is one of those books that keeps you reading until morning. Probably one of the most original stories I've seen. It's charming, alien, innovative, interesting, thought-provoking. And as a person whose hobby includes astronomy, cosmology and astrophysics (I remember one equation, mind you, Einstein's), I say it's gorgeous.
(review of free book)
Review by: Farrokh on Oct. 10, 2015 :
Opened the link to this new book to oblige a friend. And, discovered that the read blew me out of this universe. Literally. Very very amazing. Wonder what Stephen Hawking would say if he read this.
The reviews have been excellent, but since the book revolves around the bor - an abstract world that existed before the birth of the universe- I know it is not an easy read! Therefore, I request honest feedback that will help me put up an improved version 2! It may be noted that this book is the first one of a series! Sequels will expand on the storyline further! I hope to read the books of other authors here and give them my feedback too! Thanks/regards J Anita

Safe in suburbia? Not when town-sized chunks of our reality swap places with a wild, untamed alternate universe.
+A freaky smart bear escapes into our reality, changing it forever.
+An alternate reality with no people, no bureaucrats, no taxes. But freedom has its price.
+Terrorists plot to grab a potent bio-weapon.

Welcome! Please post your books or leave a comment!"
Hi, all,
I'm a long-time reader of SF and particularly love Anne McCaffery, Heinlein, Clarke and many of the other old-times, but enjoy finding new authors, too.
Right now, I have a Wattpad account under the name of JudyAfloat, where I'm posting chapters of my already indie published SF, Refuge, in advance of the publication of Dirtsiders. That book, scheduled for December 15, is a prequel as sequel to Refuge. Would love to hear some comments on the project. Cheers, Judy

I've been reading science fiction since I was a child, much to my mother's bemusement. I'm an especial fan of Ray Bradbury.
I started writing in 2001. I write science fiction (of course!), paranormal urban fantasy and romance, sometimes all at once.
My newest book, The Moreva of Astoreth released on November 1, 2015, is a science fiction romance. It's here on Goodreads, and you can also check it out on Amazon. I'd love to get some feedback!
Thanks,
Roxanne

I'm Kathryn Lance, a long-time pro author. I have just released The Pandora's Trilogy: Complete Box Set, on Kindle.
A science-oriented, character-driven adventure/romance, The Pandora's Trilogy has been described as "post-apocalypse done right." In 1986, Locus raved that Pandora’s Genes, the first book in the series, “has a plot Shakespeare would have loved."
Now all three books in The Pandora's Trilogy are gathered together in one ebook package. Perfect for binge-reading, this thrilling and thought-provoking story will keep you guessing up until the satisfying ending. Bonus material in this edition includes never-before-published scenes from the Pandora's world as well as answers to FAQ's and Easter eggs.
A bargain on Kindle at only $6.99, less than the cost of two of the novels.

Eyes in the Forest

“Elektra!” Brede screamed chasing her at full run. People he couldn’t toss out of his way dived out of it on their own. “Elektra!” Regardless his speed she stayed at the edge of his sight, the occasional bob of her blonde hair between the turbans and black hair of most of the residents of New Cairo, Egypt, Earth. The faster he ran the less he could keep up with her; his steps pounded the ground and yet he never came nearer. She stopped, glanced back at him once and then disappeared into the souk leaving Brede doubled over, sucking in breath. At length he straightened and leaned back against an ancient wall eyes closed shaking his head. He wanted it to be a dream. It had to be a dream. At least in dreams he could wake up; set his mind on the day and not some ridiculous waste of time chasing someone who was dead.

This is our first Science Fiction book. We decided we wanted something different so we took time letting the readers get to know the characters before dropping them into a battle scene. This is a story about the captain and crew Come get to know them and join in their adventure. Read it or download the free sample and let us know what you think as we begin writing the next one your input would be very valuable.

Maha Vishnu Trilogy - The Code Of Manavas (Beyond The Realm)
The current year is 2050.2.0000001 (2050 A.D. being the base of the calendar, 2 being million of years since 2050 and 0000001 being the year in excess of the million).
But the story did not begin here. Neither in this year nor at this place. The story began almost some 2 million years ago (in 2050 A.D.) in a compact lab of NYCAR (New York College of Advanced Research).
The year marked the end of the Humans as we knew it. And what came out of that lab, marked the beginning of a new and finer race of Humans called ‘Manavas’.
The Earth collapsed and a new planet ‘Bhoomi’ emerged.
The 21st century World Order collapsed too and ‘The Code’ emerged.
But now things are about to change again, and change again for good.
Where would you take refuge if neither jumping planets nor making an interstellar trip across galaxies is an option?
Will The Manavas make it through?

I would love some honest reviews, so please let me know if you would like to review this book, and I'll send you a free copy.

Captain Loos Aucoin and his crew endeavor to begin their trip across the universe, carrying a wealth of merchandise within the long hull of their intergalactic "freight train". Because of the isolation of deep space, danger can lurk anywhere as mercenary pirates seek to ambush freighters on remote missions such as this, often resulting in violent confrontations, mysteries and unexpected twists.
Problems without and from within make the voyage a very dangerous, but crucial and necessary journey. Outposts on divers stations and sparsely established planets are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Armed Interstellar Merchandise Trade Vessel carrying their much-needed supplies. What are readers saying about Dancing With The Dead:
An exceptional book- The science fiction world he creates contains sufficient remnants of today to capture readers with honesty, believability, and trust. In this respect, shades of the great SF writer, Isaac Asimov, appear.
Visionary as well as topical. This ambitious science fiction thriller about Fahd al-Sharfa, a jihadist on the moon, who falls in love with a coworker: a cat-like, bipedal alien named Quenby, and realizes that he must choose between his mission or love, has a sense of authenticity. Charles Freedom Long’s concepts surrounding the dead are fascinating and the themes he explores--what is truth, the power of love, etc--profoundly moving. The interaction of various sentient alien races gives the narrative a C.J. Cherryh vibe, the care with which the author describes the aliens is impressive; the sex scene between Fahd and Quenby is nothing short of spectacular. This is a unique, fast-paced, and utterly readable book.
The premise of Dancing with the Dead is fascinating and unique, theorising the presence of the dead beside and among the living cultures, both human and alien, respected for their insight and consulted at the personal and political level. This social integration of the dead is skillfully developed by Charles Freedom Long and convincingly integrated into the story. Definitely worth the read for the thought-provoking philosophical questions it opens and the originality of the ideas on offer
This story will take you on a trip from dealings with the dead, to hostage situations, to blood and guts. Then when you feel as though you have the story all figured out, the end causes you to stub your flipping toe. You won’t see it coming, I sure didn’t.
A real page-turner Somehow, the book manages to be both gripping and philosophical at the same time. Hats off to Mr. Long -- he has created characters that are both well-developed and sympathetic yet his book is suspenseful, and it succeeds on many different levels. This is one book that I really had a hard time putting down
With birthright, comes destiny. But what happens when love and free will interrupt the cycle? Dancing with the Dead explores this premise in a vividly drawn world, not many years into the future and not so far away. A must read for SciFi readers who crave immersion into alien, futurist dimensions with characters both flawed and heroic

An exceptional book- The science fiction world he creates contains sufficient remnants of today to capture readers with honesty, believability, and trust. In this respect, shades of the great SF writer, Isaac Asimov, appear.
