My book, Death Whispers, is a mixed-genre paranormal work in the following areas: Sci-fi/Romance & Fantasy. It's about a government-sanctioned inoculation which allows teens to manifest psychic talent and other abilities...comedic dialogue and tight characterization quantify the novel.

On the planet Valchondria, no illness exists, gay marriage is legal, and everyone is a person of color. However, a group called “the Maintainers” carefully monitors everyone’s speech, actions, and weight; the Maintainers also force so-called “colorsighted” people to hide their ability to see in color.
The brilliant scientist Taldra loves her twin gay sons and thinks of them as the hope for Valchondria’s future, but one of them becomes entangled in the cult of Degranon, and the other becomes stranded on the other side of a doorway through time. Can they find their way home and help Taldra save their world?
“This is an incredible book about the human condition and how one person striving for the good can, in the end, be a source of change.” –Rainbow Reviews
“It's a very good story.” –HomoMojo.Com
“A must read.” – Joe Wright, for StoneWall Society
“A reminder of the danger of fanaticism.” –Mark Kendrick, author of Stealing Some Time
“Duane Simolke's latest offering is a fascinating scifi excursion into a world as unique as his singular vision.” –Ronald L. Donaghe, author of Cinátis
“DEGRANON is sci-fi that warrants the attention of any serious aficionado, gay or straight, fascinated by alien worlds that mirror our own world.” –William Maltese, author of Beyond Machu
Though it takes place on other worlds, all the characters in this book are people we might call Native American, African American, Hispanic, Asian, or Middle Eastern. Some of them are also gay.
Degranon deals with themes of diversity, censorship, and religious violence. It takes place in an alternate dimension, with some of our prejudices and other problems looked at from unusual angles. More importantly for most scifi fans, though, it delivers fast-paced adventure and constant twists.

In this sequel to Post-Human, humanity will be forced to face a future more advanced than it could have imagined if it wants to survive.
Nineteen months have passed since the AI turned against humanity and was subsequently destroyed. In the meantime, James Keats has turned over the AI’s powers to a non-intelligent, easily controlled operating system. He and Thel have left the planet and spent six months vacationing on Venus, which has been newly terraformed without the consent or knowledge of the Governing Council.
The AI has been deleted, but the message it sent out into the abyss of space in search of a companion has been answered. An alien force dwarfing the Earth is on its way to find out why the AI has stopped communicating. Keats and company can only assume its intentions will be hostile when it finds out the truth.
Only one thing is for sure: nothing will ever be the same again.
Welcome to the Trans-Human era.
Welcome to the singularity.

I'm hating the self-promotion part of being an author, but so far it's been very well received, gotten lots of great reviews... although I don't know how that will translate to sales. Please check it out!

I just finished my second book; more of a novella really. Both of my books are both available on Smashwords in various e-book formats.
Mikey Goes to School
Mikey Goes to School
my link text
Sometime in the near future Mikey begins his education. How will schools of the future educate their students? What subjects will they teach? A satirical and humorous tale of a young mans' first day at school. See how Mikey copes with his classes;Homeroom, Government,Social Awareness,Requisite Arts,Health, Technology Awareness, and Creative Arts. And don't miss lunch.
This book could be considered Science Fiction and Satire.
The Band
The Band my link text
Miles and Simone are typical graduate students whose lives are disrupted by repeated deadly encounters with bear-like creatures. Death and destruction follow these creatures everywhere they go. And they get around. Are they mutations that escaped from a lab or something from another world? The Band aren’t here by accident; they have a Purpose.
This book could be considered Science Fiction and Horror.
As you can tell from the description they are quite different books. I enjoyed writing both of them. If you'd like to read them and you promise to write an honest review for Smashwords and (of course) Goodreads; email me ([email protected]) and I'll send you a coupon and save you the 99 cents.
Thanks.

My name is Drew.
I have written a beautiful novel that I would
appreciate if most of you would purchase.
The name of the book is George Buchanan Enters
The Wormhole and it is young adult science fiction.
It can be bought on the Kindle for the temporary low
price of 99 cents.
I assure you that you and your children will not be able to stop reading it.
Give it a try! You won't regret it!
My readers say that my book is even better than Ender's Game or any of the Harry Potter books. Will you and your children agree?
God bless America!

Ephemera is set in the near future. Up and coming technologies play a major role in the conspiracies. Real history also is a main theme of the book. I never considered myself a sci-fi writer, until a few readers used that term in their reviews. I'd like to get readers' input on the matter. If you have a sci-fi, or book blog, I have review copies to send. I hope to hear from you.

I am the author of a sci-fi Novella called "The Crecain Expireance"

I am very lucky to have several awesome reviews!
From the author who coined the term Sci-fi Realism, comes the first
installment in a trilogy about what it truly means to be human and who is willing to do anything to achieve it. The reality of Earth may end up being the destruction of all who hope to call it home.
Elliott is an officer of Crecian law. She must keep her species in
line while they enjoy a lifetime on Earth as Humans. But Crecians are
dying, burned from the inside by their own unique life force. Elliot
must come to terms with the death of her first partner Robert, and the memories that haunt her, if she is going to discover who is doing this and why. The more she learns about the human race, the more she fears for her fellow Crecians trapped on Earth.
I also have a facebook page to help aspiring writers. i write on it several times a day and I have over 1,000 followers so we get some great discussions going. if you want to check it out: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Elle-La...

A description of the novelette follows:
Godspeed Inc. owns the sweeper ship Naomi uses to mend the spacetime rifts that Godspeed’s faster-than-light Q-drive ships rip open as they smash out of the solar system. Now Naomi wakes with something really big bearing down on her—something that’s come through a rift, threatening Earth. Time is running short as she races to Umbriel, a moon of Uranus, to salvage and reactivate an old sweeper ship with a Q-drive hidden there. But then she gets company.
This first Naomi Kinder science fiction adventure spans the wide orbits of Pluto and Uranus and takes Naomi to the airless, icy moon of Umbriel. Fans of widescreen space operas, the Golden Age of science fiction, and SF romance will identify with Naomi’s challenges, both small-scale and astronomical. Naomi’s got some special abilities, but she’s no hero. Now the fate of the civilized solar system depends on her.
Godspeed Inc. is a prequel to Rescuing the Future: A Naomi Kinder Novel.

I posted this on the YA thread as well, but seeing as this crosses genres, I thought I'd introduce myself over here as well. I've been on goodreads for awhile, but finally decided to venture from the main page into the groups!
Anyways, I'm the author of the upcoming YA Sci-fi/adventure Skyship Academy: The Pearl Wars. I can't wait for everyone to read it! Here's the summary:

Jesse Fisher, a Skyship brat, and Cassius Stevenson, a young Surface operative, cross paths when they both venture into forbidden territory in pursuit of Pearls. Their chance encounter triggers an unexpected reaction, endowing each boy with remarkable—and dangerous—abilities that their respective governments would stop at nothing to possess. Enemies thrust together with a common goal, Jesse and Cassius make their way to the ruins of Seattle to uncover the truth about their new powers, the past they didn’t know they shared, and a shocking secret about the Pearls.

Greetings.
Puramore is a science fiction novel that presents a utopian view of the future. It follows the tradition of "Doctor Who" in melding unconventional science fiction with zany characters and plot settings. The plot setting takes place between the latter part of the 20th century and the middle part of the 21st.
***
Mankind has only two choices after science and technology renders the species utterly obsolete and incapable of survival in the future. One choice compels humanity to submit body and soul to a sinister supernatural civilisation, whilst the other impels mankind to submit to a utopian bioengineering paradigm.
General Sir George Smythe battles Wingtip and his spirit forces to turn the tide of mankind's survival dilemma to their favour. In order to prevail against their mortal and immortal foe, they must marshal all their intellectual resources to overcome Wingtip's spiritual advantage.
Puramore can be wielded only one more time. And only a paragon of mankind is fit to wield the Puramore to defeat mankind's archenemy.
Will George Smythe prove himself worthy to wield Puramore?
My sci-fi novel was published last May. Hardcover and paperback editions are available through all major online booksellers worldwide. A fine ePub edition can be downloaded through Goodreads.
Sort of off-topic, but you may enjoy taking a look at Black Maven, the new group I just formed.
See http://www.puramore.com

I've recently published a post-apocalyptic novel that is getting positive reviews.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Zona-ebook/...
Description:
The Storms came, and with them disease and blight like mankind had never experienced. Most died. Those who survived were quick to scramble for weapons, wealth, and control. Petty lords gave way to new societies. From the ashes of old came the Reformed Arizona Theocracy, or simply put, the Zona. Their laws are simple, all sins are punished swiftly and violently. The enforcers, known as Preachers, roam the lands hunting disgraced men and women. But what happens when Preachers stop killing? What happens when men of honor take a stand against their rulers?

It's a fast-paced story about two young vacationers who accidentally stumble across an advanced civilization hidden in subterranean caves in a Scandinavian mountain wilderness. This nation is able to exist below ground and in secret because they possess a technology that provides an inexhaustible source of energy.
This nation, however, is under threat from internal pressures, and one of its most important citizens is struggling to ensure its survival.
Will and Natalie Duncan are taken captive and become involved in events that threaten themselves, the nation itself, and the secret source of energy that powers it.
The book is 63,000 words in length -- you can read sample chapters at http://www.frankacland.com

Have you ever felt like you're not in complete control of your actions? Like someone else is influencing your thoughts? Maybe they are...
In the short story "Mind Melding," an experiment to rehabilitate criminals by letting them take excursions into the minds of civilians gives one inmate the opportunity for the ultimate escape.
Check out the high reviews on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005G4GA4A
and Smashwords http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/... also available on the Nook http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Mind....

It takes place in an era when humans have pretty much given up on finding any meaning in life. When an imperialistic alien species attacks, humanity barely puts up any fight at all. The main character, however, is a "human fanatic" fighting in a last-ditch guerilla war against the invaders. He's not a superheroic badass, but he is determined and driven and more than a little unbalanced.
Be warned: There are a few graphic action sequences.

CATCH
Is only 0.99c on Kindle for a limited time : )) Enjoy!
A few reviews:

"As one of Vince Flynn's first readers, this guy is better" - C.C (Literary Professional)
"Awesome book, well researched and technically perfect, as a SWAT instructor I get picky about the fine points in some books, this was perfect. Absolutely gripping story, couldn't put it down."
"There is never a dull moment in this story.
Bravo to Author Quirk for giving us complex characters to love and hate. As Catch and Hallie are pursued from all directions, their relationship as well as their characters develop. He puts the reader right into the settings and action with his very vivid descriptions. I for one, could not wait to turn the page(or in the case of a kindle - to press the next page button.) I didn't want it to end! The story is nicely tied up at the end, but leaves just that little bit to make the reader hope for a sequel, or maybe even a Catch Harris series."

L. Darby, convince people that your time travel is plausible, serves a real purpose, and isn't the main point of the story. Some time travel stories are pointless and ridiculous. Hope you succeed!

Hey L. Darby,
I totally recommend you submit your blurb(s) to thecanaryreview.com Pitch Slapped series (every Friday). They work wonders!

Good advice. The time travel aspect is not the main point, more about coming to terms with choices and who is to blame for one's actions via time travel. Plausible, hmmm, could you explain more on that. I'm am kind of caught by the idea that time travel isn't plausible outside fiction. So to make it plausible inside fiction....
Next stop thecanaryreview.

Hopefully In the Shadow of Mountains: The Lost Girls may also appear shortly. Both books are available in Kindle and as trade paperbacks on Amazon and elsewhere.

The Prince of Persia movie had plausible time travel, though it wasn't perfect, because as it was used it was very limited, for a finite purpose, with a definite end in mind. Time Cop had it as a dangerous, uncertain proposition, which I think is a good limiting factor, the inability for the "real" person to touch his time traveling counterpart, and other things that keep it from being an all encompassing power. I grant that time travel itself is hardly plausible, but there was a movie where one squashed butterfly resulted in waves of time insanity and whole new evolutionary patterns, etc. That was just silly.

Greetings sci fi fans, I'm a digital artist and the author of the DSNG sci fi series, a set of 6 action-packed ebooks available at Amazon.com. DSNG is a Mature tale that fuses concepts of action, romance and drama into a dynamic mix. It is set in an alternate galaxy and features a character named Prince Azzar - he is a regal super soldier and the adventures are focused around him and his associates.
Stories of espionage, combating space pirates, tracking down ruthless terrorists and clashing with vile superhuman headhunters are amongst the plights that Prince Azzar and the Centura forces from planet Avera face on a regular basis. But as a trained Alpha Senturi soldier, the Prince has a mindset of resilience; thus he will never bow to his foes.
Aside from his quest to find true love, Azzar has a rocky relationship with his cousin, the King of Avera; and they often butt heads. Most of their associates have no idea that there are buried secrets in the royal family, which have led to a grudge between the two cousins... a grudge that has the potential to trigger immense devastation upon the ultramodern cities of planet Avera.
Fans of Star Wars and Mass Effect will definitely enjoy this series, while its uniqueness shines forth from the very first chapter...

I get your point about a limiting quality keeping it from being "an all encompassing power." That is something I am working on. The first book does not explore time travel enough to offer such a quality. But the next in the series and others that follow (all currently in draft) will need to establish the fine points of the process while still keeping it from being the point of the story. Thanks, Mary, for the comments. Elldee

My new release World-Mart speculates a world in which Corporate America has gone as far as it can in a society that is literally crumbling to the ground. The story focuses on the class divide, greed and corruption in power, and corporate bureaucracy. (It also deconstructs to make a point about the pulp sci-fi era.)
Myths of Gods is a dramatic satire that takes a look at the different roles, good and bad, religion plays in society from a very unique point of view.

This is the first installment in a trilogy of novellas about which species are allowed to become human and how that decision can change the destiny of all who seek it.
Elliot is a Crecian police officer, stationed on earth, in order to monitor the behavior of her own kind. Crecians have been allowed to live their last lifetime as a human, but something is going horribly wrong. Crecians are dying in large numbers, burned to death by their own life force.
Elliot must come to terms with the death of her own partner in order to discover who is killing her people and why. The more she learns about the human race, the more she realizes they have made a terrible mistake.

I'd like to introduce my novella, Lyon's Legacy:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...
When scientist-in-training Joanna Lyon learns her rich uncle plans to have their rock legend ancestor, Sean Lyon, cloned, she’s disgusted. Uncle Jack pushed her into music when she was younger, and she hated it. So it’s particularly galling that he wants her to travel through a wormhole to an alternate universe and sample Sean’s DNA. She only agrees to go so she can secretly sabotage the project. But meeting Sean forces her to re-examine her feelings about her family, including her estranged father. Can she protect the unborn clone from her uncle, and will she have to sacrifice her career and new-found love to do so?

One of the good things about GoodReads is that there are a lot of fascinating discussions here. But that's also one of the bad things. I've been on GoodReads for several months now before I discovered this particular topic. Now I'll have to make up for lost time.
One thing I'd particularly like to tell people about is my new space opera decalogy, the Agents of ISIS books. The first volume in the series is
"With humanity scattered across the galaxy on hundreds of worlds, the Empire is the only force for order across the stars. Without it, interstellar conflicts would bring chaos and billions of deaths.
"But the tsar has been in a coma for five years now, and his grand-niece, the only apparent heir, is only 14 years old. In this hour of crisis, the task of preserving the Empire falls to two untrained--but far from unskilled--agents of the Imperial Special Investigation Service. Can they make a difference against the vast forces arrayed against them?"
The books are full of action and humor--and, as a further enticement, Tsar Wars is available as a free ebook download from Smashwords so you can get an idea what the series is all about.
I hope you'll give the books a try--and, in any case, happy new year, and pleasant reading!
