Alan Alaric (doublearoi) | 1 comments Hi, My name is A.A. Roi and I have a science fiction novel, The Undeniable Labyrinth, indie published on Smashwords and Amazon. It's best described as post-apocalyptic with space-opera and cyberpunk elements. While the book is more-or-less a standalone, it's also the first in a series. The follow up novel, Recollector of Shadows will be published this summer.

The Post-Apocalyptic Pace Opera by A. A. Roi

I am looking for some more reviews on here/amazon, so if you are interested it can be read entirely for free on it's website or I can send you a free copy of the ebook.

Here's the blurb:

Althea Ram, exile from a culture which survived an intergalactic apocalypse, has been searching for answers amongst the lost worlds of the Consortia. She has planned a desperate transit to Elysium, a world which can provide her everything she needs.But the probability of getting there on the first try is very low. And she has no way of telling how dangerous her destination might be...

Tom Christian (tomschristian) | 2 comments Hi all, my first science fiction adventure novel, Counterpoint is now available as an ebook at all good retailers including Amazon UK, Amazon US and Smashwords, but is presently on a FREE GIVEAWAY here until June 10.

Feel free to head over and request one of the available copies. If you like it I'd be massively grateful for a review, even if it's only one or two lines to help other readers get a feel for the book.

For more visit me at my blog www.TomSChristian.com/blog or follow me on Twitter @TomSChristian.

Counterpoint by Tom S. Christian

"After narrowly escaping from what was supposed to be a routine intelligence gathering mission to infiltrate a mercenary vessel, Commander Jake Trant and his colleagues at the AEF uncover a conspiracy three decades in the making. They soon realise that what they have stumbled upon is not your common or garden power play, but something with potentially far reaching implications for humanity, and perhaps even the very fabric of the universe itself.

Pitted against the seemingly unrestrained ambitions of Harris Tolman, an ageing interplanetary industrialist, who for the past few decades has been quietly building and scheming, all in preparation for one moment on one day, Jake and his team suddenly find themselves in a race against time to prevent disaster on a universe wide scale.

With Tolman seemingly unwilling to let anything or anyone get in the way of the fruition of his ambitions, and with death and destruction spreading out around him like the unstoppable ripple of a solar shockwave, Jake will have to go the extra mile to do what he increasingly finds he must. Save the day. "

When independent galactic trader Ven Zaran tangles with a powerful crime syndicate, it’s not a question of if someone will die, only who it will be.

Ven’s successful career plying the hyperspace trade routes is cut short after he helps execute a sting that sends a syndicate leader to prison. In revenge, the syndicate takes Ven’s wife and children hostage and he is forced to run their dangerous and illegal cargoes. Being a trader is risky enough, but now if Ven loses a cargo it will mean the death of his family.

Under surveillance and unable to rescue them himself, Ven must pin his hopes on a group of friends who race to free his family from captivity. When Ven looses one of the syndicate cargoes and hasn’t heard from his friends, he is sure his family’s fate is sealed. He takes on the syndicate goons in a showdown to the death.

Rob Lopez (roblopez) Even the dead dance to live by Rob Lopez Even the dead dance to live

Callisto. Jupiter's second largest moon. Cold enough to suck the heat out of any pressure suit, and scoured by lethal levels of radiation every sixteen days as it orbits through Jupiter's magnetotail. Nobody in their right mind would want to live there. Work there, maybe. But live there?

But people do live there. Humanity built its first space city there. And for a while it looked like a good prospect. Mankind's stepping stone to the stars.

It's all gone wrong though. Civilization is crumbling. And the cycle of life and death is whirling faster than was ever intended. Survival is a delicate balancing act that requires soft and careful steps.

Enter Shakespeare Cruz, a man on the run from his own dark past. He doesn't do soft. And he's anything but delicate. He's got a price on his head, enemies on his tail and an ever tightening noose around his neck. He's got a warlord who wants him to keep his appointment with death and a ghost who wants him to fulfil an impossible obligation. It's not clear that either of them has picked the right man for the job.

The time has come for him to make his choice however, and he's got to make it fast. At stake is the soul of a city, the memory of a woman, and the life of one little girl.

Only one thing is certain - it's going to get ugly.

Hi and welcome to my debut novel. The good news is that it's an action packed near-future space romp. The really great news is that I'm looking for reviewers and I have free e-copies (Kindle files) to give away to anyone willing to write a review (short or long, positive or negative is fine). If you're interested just message me and a copy shall be yours.

Enjoy.

Steve Fellick (SteveFellick) | 4 comments Hello All.
I wrote a novel last year that I think falls into the Science Fiction category, but I'm not sure where. I have never heard of Cyberpunk or most of the other sub-genres. It certainly isn't a Space Opera, and it's certainly not going to be Cyberpunk, it's a bit like 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'.

I have described it on Amazon as an action adventure novel. The story line is:

Northern UK, winter 1991. The boredom of the two person night shift of a military early warning radar station in a bleak remote location is broken at 20:37 Zulu by a loud two tone alarm. Two UFOs are detected, they demonstrate operational capabilities that suggest technology far beyond anything terrestrial in origin. Major Dan Strange and Prof Lucy Compton from DI55 (Aerospace Intelligence) are called in to investigate.

What do you think?
What category would you put it in?

Michele Richard (michele_richard) | 4 comments Hello, I've been watching for a while trying to get my bearings. Sorry I'm not a jump in with two feet kind of person.

I had a science fiction romance released in April. I know it's sort of a strange combination. But it is what it is. So here it is.

Parasouls ~ Divine Intervention by Michele Richard (Goodreads Author)

Summary:

Born amongst the humans, yet not being one, the parasouls fight to remain hidden. Using the ancient tunnels and abandoned, buried basements as their homes parasouls live in the underbelly of society in their own world, they've created a world where they don’t need to pretend they’re normal. Their gifts remind them that they’re not. When you can produce electric blue flames from your fingertips, there’s no way to deny it. Damian McNamara built and rules the world they thrive in.

Angelique is the leader of a special team whose job it is to keep the “normals” from knowing of the parasouls’ existence. Her gift is also a curse, leaving her physically unable to touch another living soul without inflicting indescribable pain upon them.

The Parasoul Acquisition Control Taskforce hunts them for what they are.

Shane is the headhunter for the taskforce. Like Angelique, he’s never been able to touch anyone due to his gift of red and orange flames that singes the flesh of others.

The moment Shane and Angelique meet, the heavens open and connect their souls forever. So what happens when Shane finds himself trapped between the only thing he’s ever desired and his job? He has no choice but to deliver the one person who owns his soul over to his bosses, the government’s taskforce? Which side is the good, the bad, and the dictators?

They’re both in for a rude awakening.

Can love conquer all when you’re supposed to hate the one soul you cannot live without? How long can they fight the urge to give in to their connection? Can two parasouls on opposite sides find common ground and forge a future?

A mysterious mercenary pilot and expert weapons specialist by the name of Blain Ross reunites with his former Commanding Officer of the UTCN(United Terran Confederate Navy) on the desolate world of Keilen II, on the outskirts of the Frontier. Under the orders of the Confederate Naval Command, his CO reactivates Blain’s former rank of Commander and is informed of the rising threat of a formidable and cunning race known as the Nurii pose to the Colonies. Blain accepts the job after receiving a considerable incentive and begins his tour, but as events unfold, the commander becomes aware of his latent abilities.

Branded a traitor by his CO; after failing to comply with orders to destroy a Nurii military convoy, Blain’s search for absolute truth continues when he finds his life at risk as several top-secret agencies attempt to hi-jack the intelligence that he has been entrusted with since before his exile to prison and the knowledge passed on to him by an agent of an organization that both media and the Colonies perceive as a threat to their way of life.

Blain’s endeavor to complete the perilous mission that has been bestowed upon him, results in a fatal race to find the Sixth Eye; an ancient artifact of great importance and filled with dark, legendary powers that could bring the Colonies into a full-scale galactic war beyond imagination. Humanity and all the other races in the galaxy would face a terrible fate of Armageddon and perish in an onslaught of horror by a powerful serpent. With the assistance of Gideon Cohen and the divine direction of God, will he be able to prevent his former C.O. from opening Pandora’s box? Or will his terrifying nightmares of pure evil be fulfilled…the likes of which no human has never seen?

W.R.R. Munro (wrrmunro) | 4 comments I believe the most interesting science fiction looks at what the scientists of the day are researching - what they speculate when they let their hair down - and then asks, 'what if...?'

So
what if we continue to fail to address climate change, over-fishing, looming worldwide fresh water shortages, the imbalances we’re causing in the nitrogen cycle, the great extinction event we’re causing, the stresses we’re placing ecosystems under…?

what if ever-continuing advances in medical science mean human population growth doesn’t slow as much as is currently predicted, and the peoples of the developing nations continue to seek to consume the way westerners do (and who could blame them)…?

what if some less-than-scrupulous scientists have been experimenting with human genetics the way others have publicly done with animals…?

what if someone decides to take matters into their own hands…(and what if they might be right to do so)…?

INTERVENTION by WRR Munro INTERVENTION

It’s April 2033. Drought and nasty little water wars ravage Africa. Heat-waves kill tens of thousands in Europe. Famine and food riots sweep across Asia after the monsoon fails for the third year. The United States struggles with massive social upheaval following decades of economic malaise.

Ayden Walker is a young field researcher. It’s his job to limit the damage to the environment from climate change, greed or plain incompetence. He’s also part of the virtual BioWatch community where he works to hold those responsible to account. As such, he has little patience for people who rush to commercialise genetically modified organisms before the risks are properly understood.

So he is appalled when he meets William Hanford and learns that, decades ago, their parents were involved in illegal genetic experimentation.

But what he learns next shakes the very foundations of his existence.

He isn’t given time to deal with it though. Ayden stumbles across something that could change the course of humanity if he doesn’t stop it… but he’s not so sure he should. People are consuming without thought, placing unbearable loads on the planet’s resources and playing havoc with the world’s climate. Perhaps truly radical action could be justified.

“Let’s say I’ve got a vial of this perfect stuff in my pocket. Do we campaign for a worldwide vote we know will never happen—or do I just open it?”

But he isn’t the only one contemplating the question. Someone has him under surveillance and it becomes clear they have no intention of allowing him to interfere. Ayden is forced to seek an uneasy alliance with US military intelligence as he hunts for the truth.

Then Ayden discovers that his adversary will kill to keep his secrets.

~~~
The story is set in the near future and extrapolates carefully from the current science. It takes a realistic look at genetic engineering, climate change and human population pressures.
It's intended to be a fun read though, and has been described as "a techno thriller with the potential to cross over to both science-fiction and thriller audiences". If you want to know more, visit wrrmunro.com or interventionbymunro.com.
I'm giving away a limited number of review copies (Kindle ebooks). If you're interested, send me a message and I’ll message back an Amazon gift code, then you simply go to the Amazon accept gift page (I’ll send the link) and you can be reading INTERVENTION in minutes on your Kindle, iPad, tablet, etc. You don’t even have to give me an email address (‘cause we’re all sick to death of spam).
Then if you enjoy the novel, please leave a review here and on Amazon.
But as she hunts for clues left behind by the suicidal genius, Doctor Thaddeus Kong, she realizes that Kong's increasingly erratic logs point to a more sinister truth. David Nova (davidnova) Season of the Serpent
Hello. My name is David Nova and I'd like to tell you about my fantasy novel, "Season of the Serpent." It's a hybrid of Harry Potter and The X-Files with UFOs, multi-dimensional beings, and a few government conspiracies, a kind of metaphysical Wizard of Oz ... the Garden of Eden story retold in a smart and satirical, contemporary sci-fi/fantasy.
A reviewer writes: "Intelligently written and expertly paced ... a true multidisciplinary feat." Another adds, "His writing style of very high quality that kept me engaged throughout the whole story, as I wanted to keep reading more and more."
In 1982, Paul Venturi is just an average, socially awkward college freshman hiding his extra-terrestrial genesis in the closet, hoping to start a brand new life on campus. Unfortunately, his reemerging telepathy and the shadow of covert government surveillance make fitting in a daunting task. But when an enigmatic Serpent in the guise of a college stoner pressures him to smoke the forbidden weed, Paul is thrust into a mind-bending world of government coverups, esoteric knowledge, and dark conspiracies.
Catapulted over the rainbow, Paul lands in the Astral realm of Yin'Dru where competing factions of immortals are locked in a bitter, cosmic stalemate waging a secret Cold War over the destiny of the human race. A reluctant Paul is cast in the starring role of Adam - a higher sentient human groomed to become their celebrity-messiah. However a sinister faction sees him as the perfect pawn to steer the United States and Soviet Union toward a nuclear Apocalypse.
I am currently ghostwriting a WWII novel and am working on the second draft of my first book. I love SF and fantasy and am heavily influenced by Heidegger and Buddhism.
My first serial, Glyphein, is up on theinsidemag.com and I've also uploaded it on my Goodreads page. A second serial, The Closed Gate, is in the early stages. I'd love to hear any critique and relish the chance to enjoy the work of other authors.
T. (tjacksonking) | 38 comments Philip, welcome to Meet Our Authors on Amazon. I happen to live in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and have heard of Leonardo magazine. Congrats on your publications! And I too consider myself a simple Buddhist focused on peace, compassion and non-violence. Feel free to visit my T. Jackson King author page here on Goodreads, where you can see my science fiction and fantasy novels. My latest is a Robin Hood In Space novel titled Star Vigilante. Tom. Star Vigilante by T. Jackson King
Chris Reher | 1 comments Hi
Where have I been all this time? What a spiffy site! (and I never miss an opportunity to use "spiffy" in a sentence)
I just published my first full-length fiction in various places.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...
(did I post this correctly? Will this hyperlink?)
My non-fiction is of the college textbook variety and utterly boring because textbooks are supposed to be painfully dull, or so my editor leads me to believe.
Anyway, I am really not sure if my novel is "soft" science fiction or fantasy. I can honestly say that it's either one or the other to each of the book's characters.
I hope I haven't annoyed anyone by calling it Science Fiction in some categories.
Q.
Justin Wilkerson | 25 comments Hey there,
I recently published my first e-book. Its the first book in a science fiction/fantasy series.
Prophecy (Ghost Wars Saga, #1) by Justin Wilkerson Prophecy
It is a story of space ships and magic, of dragons and distant planets, of futuristic weapons and an ancient prophecy.
I'm very excited about my plans for the series, but I'm worried that people may not realize the first book is just a gateway to a much bigger story.
Anyways it is available on Nook and Kindle.
Daniel Zazitski | 3 comments If you like to read military scifi check out my ongoing eight part series Amderesta The 3rd/4th Republic which contains the following books: Amderesta The 3rd Republic, Amderesta The 4th Republic #1. The NDEG Mission, Amderesta The 4th Republic #2. The SSAAR-Yenturian-Amderestan War, Amderesta The 4th Republic #3. The Colonization, Amderesta The 4th Republic #4. The Bytoris Plague, Amderesta The 4th Republic #5.Operation Retribution, Amderesta The 4th Republic #6. The Alien War/Amderestan-EGA War/Army Command and Amderesta The 4th Republic #7. Return to Civilian Control.
All eight books are tied together by various plotlines, one is the war between the 4th Amderestan Republic and Antarian Republic against the Northern Group Alliance, another is the Amdronian Group Alliance-Blackanian War which occurs concurrently and the first four books are basically the build-up to full scale war between AGA and Blackanian Federation and their EAF allies. I recommend reading my series as an onmibus or in the order I've listed here as you will be confused if the books are not read in order.
Massimo Marino | 106 comments Hi there, thanks for the opportunity to spread the word a bit more.
My sci-fi, PA novel, Daimones has received 5 and 4 stars reviews both on Amazon and Goodreads. Please, read them before deciding whether the story might fall on one of your reading realms.
I am a scientist as background, and spent years at CERN and at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab. I then had leading positions with Apple Inc. and the World Economic Forum. Right now I am Partner in a new startup in Geneva for smartphones applications: TAKEALL SA.
I live in France and cross the border with Switzerland daily and multiple times, but no, I'm no smuggler.
With family, I lived on both sides of the Ocean Pond and we speak three languages at home, sometimes in the very same sentence even! I feel home where loved ones and friends are and have friends in Italy, Spain, France, UK, Switzerland, Germany and the US.
Ah, as golf player, I played courses in all those countries too. With mixed results.
Thank you for your time and consideration
A brief synopsis
Dan Amenta and his family woke up one morning to discover the world had changed. Apocalypse had arrived.
They were surrounded by horrible disaster. They were surrounded by death, yet they were untouched by it. More and more they sensed that some sort of supernatural power had left them the only 3 people on Earth. They were not!
The efforts to survive and find other people brought Dan to discover the disturbing truth about the human extermination. Dan and his family met Laura, who brought revelations about this catastrophe.
The presence of Laura, a sexy, young, and disruptive girl, raises questions about what is right and ethical in this new reality.
Other survivors report what they have seen, forcing Dan to find explanations in his own past. Ancient hallucinations strike Dan with the force of a sledgehammer. They bring him face-to-face with his new role in a scenario with roots millions of years old.
Earth is in the hands of a higher, older power, but not the one Dan had envisioned throughout his life.
