Todd Tystad (toddrtystad) Hey, great idea to do interviews. I'll add mine:

1. My name is Todd R. Tystad. I've lived in South Dakota, Nebraska, and California and my only regret is not having lived in New York City. I wouldn't rule it out yet, but it's pretty hard to beat Southern California.

2. My new book is called Blue Hill. It's about a boy who is 17 and lives a pretty normal life until he has a motorcycle accident and then discovers that he's able to do things that defy explanation. You can find Blue Hill on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and in the Apple iBookstore.

3. My ideas come from all of the people, places, and situations that I've encountered in my life. I think the world is full of stimulating experiences and all a writer needs to do is look and listen.

4. I've always enjoyed Young Adult fiction and am always looking for something new. I've never been disappointed with anything by Stephen King and I think every writer should read his On Writing. For my old school short stories, I love J.D. Salinger's books.

5. My next project is the one I'm working on right now. It's the next book in the Asa Roth series that I started with Blue Hill. Asa begins his senior year in high school and has to figure out how to live a normal life with his unexplainable abilities.

If you're interested in learning more about Asa Roth, visit my blog: http://toddrtystad.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the interview and have a great GoodReads day!

Eryn Lockhart (ErynLockhart) | 20 comments 1) What is your name and bio? My name is Eryn Lockhart, I'm a Romance author, unrepentant chocoholic, all-around movie-hound, latter-day gypsy & bookworm. I'm addicted to travel, atomic cuisine, music & corsets, & I love to dance. I also adore any excuse to dress up to the nines or belt out tunes in karaoke.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it? I just released my very first novel for the Kindle and Nook: After Midnight. It's a thrilling full-length historical romance set during the early Napoleonic wars and Regency period; when a war between nations throws two dynamic individuals together on a whirlwind journey from the madness of the French Revolution, to the ballrooms and the underground of London, to the front lines of international espionage. It's an action packed adventure filled with intrigue, humor, passion, and treachery as two fascinating characters find that the path to true love goes hand in hand with a mission that has the power to make or break an empire, and is available through Amazon or Barnes and noble's websites

3) Where do you come up with your ideas? I'm an unrepentant romantic and history buff, and I was fascinated by the beginnings of modern cryptology, some of the more unusual street performers found in London just before the Regency, herbal lore of that day and time, and the mystery surrounding how the Hope Diamond (previously one of the French Crown jewels), wound up in London following the Revolution.

4) What books/authors do you like to read? I have a weakness for the romance genre, especially books by Judith McNaught, Elizabeth Lowell, Teresa Medieros, Diana Palmer, and Julie Garwood.

5) What's your next writing project? A Contemporary Category length romance called "Bittersweet", where a reformed hacker and a former software tycoon discover that sometimes revenge can lead you to your heart's desire. My sister requested it as a belated college graduation gift, and I'm hoping to have it completed in time for submission to RWA's Golden Heart competition.

Michele Kallio (michelekallio) | 32 comments 1)My name is Michele Kallio, I am a former teacher/librarian and retired medical office manager. I was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but live in New Brunswick, Canada, on the shores of the Bay of Fundy with my physician husband David, and our golden retriever, Sara.
2) My book title is BETRAYAL which is the story of two women separated by two continents and four centuries. Lydia Hamilton of modern day New Brunswick Canada is haunted by dreams and nightmares of a woman from the past. A trip to her mother's ancestral home in Devon, England reveals a connection, a diary of this woman, Elisabeth Beeton, a servant at the Court of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
3)The story idea developed out of a pen-pal correspondence with a woman in Devon, England. So many conincidences began to happen as I wrote the story. At that time, in the beginning, I had never been to England nor did I study any maps, but when I started wrtiting I would make up places only to have Christine find them, extinct religious houses, village names and people. BETRAYAL is available at www.amazon.com, www.amazon.ca, www.amazon.co.uk and www.barnesand noble.com
4) I read mainly historical novels and biograhies, authors, such as Phillpa Gregory, Sharon Kay Penman, Elizabeth Chadwick, Eric Ives, and others.
5) My next writing project is the pre-sequel or back story of my 21 st century characters parents and the mystery of the dreams, tenatively entitled Beyond Betrayal.

J.S. Dunn (httpwwwjsdunnbookscom) | 23 comments Thank you Vincent, for this thread concept.

1) What is your name and bio?
J.S. Dunn; presently divide time between Ireland and the States.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
Bending the Boyne: A novel of ancient Ireland

-- Why were the great Boyne passage mounds abandoned at 2200 BCE?

The dawning Bronze Age rocked the north Atlantic with metals and trading over the waves between coasts, and a new warrior elite with new weapons.

This novel is the first fiction to show the new paradigm, that "Celtic" culture and language developed along the north Atlantic coasts of Spain and France and in the Isles, in the third millennium BCE ( well prior to the Iron Age).

Available as a quality paperback from the major retailers, Amazon, indie bookstores, and in bulk through Seriously Good Books (see the web). Also as Kindle/Nook/apps.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
The idea for Bending The Boyne arose from reading current archaeology since around 2000, and spending a lot of time exploring megaliths and ancient mines in the blazing sun or rain and wind!

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
Jean Auel, Mary Renault, Michener, E. Rutherfurd, Robert Harris, and others. Also read nonfiction titles and journals in archaeology, astronomy, genetics, and other fields.

5) What's your next writing project?
In fiction, a second novel set later in the Atlantic Bronze Age as metals trade expands.

1) What is your name and bio?

My name is Alexandra Lanc. My unofficial bio: I write Contemporary YA in a variety of genres, and have been writing for as long as I can remember (though earlier stories were not as good as my new stories ;)). I live in the USA in Florida with my family and calico cat, Sanura.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My newest book is called Shadows of Past Memories, and is the first in my YA science fiction series.
Official Synopsis:
"She couldn't do it. It wasn't possible. No matter what choice she made, she'd have something to face."

IT starts on a cold night, before best friends Aura and Terren are to be separated forever. During a trip to the meadow, the girls are attacked by otherworldly creatures, and an evil plot begins to unfold...
Terren: discovers she's not who she thought she was, and that she is being hunted by a monster more terrifying than her worst imaginings.
Aura: is faced with a truth she's been trying to run from, lies she's been trying to keep hidden, and an old acquaintance that keeps coming back.
Can the horrible truth be confronted, or will they be swallowed by the shadows of the past?
The first book in the Foxfire Chronicles, Shadows of Past Memories is an introduction to an entirely new world, where nothing is as it seems, and everything has a meaning.

This book is available in paperback and ebook, and can be found at Amazon, Smashwords, and BN.com. Check my website for more info: http://www.alexandralanc.com

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

My ideas come from everywhere and nowhere. I can look at a leaf outside and get an idea, or I can be watching a movie and get an idea. I can even be sitting still staring at the ceiling and get an idea. My best ideas, however, come from talks with my friends or strange dreams I've had.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I like YA fiction, though I'll read Children's, Adult, or Christian fiction. My favorite genres are science fiction, fantasy, and Horror (all with a bit of romance), which is also pretty much what I write. My favorite authors are Eoin Colfer and Ridley Pearson.

5) What's your next writing project?

My next project is the sequel to a new novel that I will be releasing in Spring 2012, called "The Ending". It's a fantasy novel with some realistic aspects. I'm looking forward to working on it. ;)

Carrie Olguin (keriokie) | 15 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

Hello everyone. My name is Carrie Olguin (Ol'geen). I'm a full time mother of a nine year old boy who loves to play ice hockey. When I have spare quiet time, I write Romance novels of the Paranormal, Science Fantasy/Adventure type.

Currently, I am working to fulfill a five book contract with Moongypsy Press with my Five Worlds series.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

The novel is "Fire and Ice" available in print and ebook at www.MoongypsyPress.com, Amazon and other on-line book retailers.

There's a Goodreads Book Giveaway on right now through Oct 5, 2011. Check the book link for details. Fire and Ice, Five Worlds Series

The book blurb:
(Word count aprox 98K – heat rating 3 of 5)
On planet Majien of the Five Worlds, Sarica inherited the debts of her father, which she can’t repay. The law demands her indentured servitude. Fate taunts her to find the lost City of Almona, the adventure that claimed her father’s life. She becomes the property of a judge, a man she fears. And desires. How can she attain freedom to answer Fate’s call?

Rosche burns for Sarica. The extreme cold she generates through her skin can soothe the curse he bears of creating heat through his. Emotions incite the beastly fever to flare. Because he is callous, she had rejected him as a suitor. So he buys her servitude. As his most precious possession, he will keep her. Forever. Will he risk their lives on an expedition to find Almona City to finally win her heart?

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

I find ideas everywhere, Internet, TV, books, and while people. I've been writing since I could hold a crayon.

What I had to learn was to see one idea to completion - my muse has a bad case of ADHD. It's taken me years to obtain that discipline. Though I still struggle with "project hopping" (my form of writer's block) I've developed mental tools that help me stay focused on one story until complete.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

Romance novels are my first love, historical and paranormal sub-genres. I also read Urban Fantasy.

I am a Moning Maniac.

My list of favorite authors is extensive and ever changing. Looking at my Goodreads book list, I have to mention Terri Brisbin (Highlander, not the Avon books), Robin Owens (Magical Fantasy), Gena Showalter (Darkest Series) and Elizabeth Rolls (historical).

5) What's your next writing project?

"Dreamsayer" is the next release for the Five Worlds series (date TBA). I submitted the work to the publisher last week for polishing. The concept for the cover art is awesome Can't wait to show everyone.

After that I'm working on another Five Worlds release, "Reality Shift."

Information about the series and the stories I'm working on can be found on my author's web site at www.CarrieOlguin.com.

Ghunterhanks | 5 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

G. Hunter Hanks is a pen name for Gregory H. Hanks. I was born in North Carolina and make South Carolina my home. Teaching and writing are callings. I've been teaching composition, literature, and student success for 13+ years in both public high schools and community colleges. Exercise keeps me balanced, nature keeps me grounded, and learning keeps me humble. You can find the blog at http://ghunterhanks.org/.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

The book is Sister Moon: Stories of the Supernatural, available as an Amazon Kindle ebook. Since it's a collection of 13 short stories, most readers can find something they enjoy. Most are urban fantasy, although a few can be read as fiction. To describe a few, in "Drifter", students stumble upon something in the wilderness looking for a sacrifice. In "Fallen on a Moonlit Night", Reed searches for others like him but stumbles upon a pack of predators who've given into their animal cravings. In "Mr. Button Saves the Day," young Claire befriends a brownie who helps her family. In "Swamp Duet", Joanne's secret love is sidetracked but not stopped when her boyfriend becomes a ghost.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Most of my ideas emerge from dreams as a snapshot or single moment. Then asking myself questions like, "what happens next?" or "who are these people?" develops the plot, characters, and setting. Dreams always come with emotion, so I'm usually trying to capture the feelings or mood from the dream. Stories about magic work particularly well because dreams and magic share the same logic, different from the waking world.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

Tough to single out only a few from so many great ones! I'm amazed by Rachel Caine, Carrie Vaughn, Robert Jordan, and S.M. Stirling. Other great authors include David Weber, Mike Shepherd, Nancy Kress, and Lois McMasters Bujold. My degrees are in English, so lots of great classics, too.

5) What's your next writing project?

Currently, I'm working on a small set of short stories, likely to be an Amazon Kindle single this Christmas. The novel Lightning Strikes Twice is as yet unpublished. In it, Jason Korbin and his girlfriend Rayn realize that their benign actions have come to the attention of serious evil when a sword-swinging ghost tries to kill them. I'm currently writing the sequel.

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 278 comments Thanks for the opportunity!

1) What is your name and bio?

My name is Karen A. Wyle. I am an appellate attorney, photographer, political junkie, and mother of two daughters, living in a county outside a town in Indiana. I am a lifelong reader and sometimes an author. I write science fiction, general fiction and picture books -- so far.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My current release is Twin-Bred. It is on Amazon as a paperback and ebook, in the Nook Store, and on Smashwords.

Can interspecies diplomacy begin in the womb? After seventy years on Tofarn, the human colonists and the native Tofa still know very little about each other. Misunderstanding breed conflict, and the conflicts are escalating. Scientist Mara Cadell’s radical proposal: that host mothers of either species carry fraternal twins, human and Tofa, in the hope that the bond between twins can bridge the gap between species. Mara lost her own twin, Levi, in utero, but she has secretly kept him alive in her mind as companion and collaborator.

Mara succeeds in obtaining governmental backing for her project – but both the human and Tofa establishments have their own agendas. Mara must shepherd the Twin-Bred through dangers she anticipated and others that even the canny Levi could not foresee. Will the Twin-Bred bring peace, war, or something else entirely?

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

You'd have to ask my subconscious -- that's where the action is. I do tend to view current events, gossip, etc. through a science fiction lens. The idea for Twin-Bred came from an article about new videos of twins in the womb, showing an amazing amount of interaction between them, and also touching on the lasting trauma felt by those who lose a twin in utero or shortly after birth.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I read science fiction, historical fiction, biography, history, 18th and 19th Century English classics, mysteries, YA, and once in a while a bit of fantasy. Mary Doria Russell -- whose books have included science fiction and historical fiction -- is one of my favorite authors.

5) What's your next writing project?

I have two rough drafts awaiting my attention -- the sequel to Twin-Bred, and a novel set in an afterlife of my own devising. (I'm hoping to edit the latter first, but I'm stuck on a plot point.) I also plan to continue my series of science fiction stories concerning human cloning. The first in the series, "The Baby," is a free ebook on Smashwords (99 cents on Amazon).

I'd like to respond to your questionnaire, but I'm not sure how to put in working links. Can you give me some advice?

message 111: by Betsy (new)

Betsy Miller | 17 comments 1) What is your name and bio?
My name is Betsy Miller. I live in Silicon Valley with my husband and daughters, where I write about wireless technology for high-tech companies. I also write nonfiction books about children’s health topics, and fiction that spans a number of genres. You can see some examples at http://betsymillerbooks.weebly.com.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
My newest book is The Parents’ Guide to Clubfoot. The Parents’ Guide to Clubfoot is the only book about clubfoot treatment that is written as a resource for families. It can be preordered at Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and will be available through mainstream booksellers in February 2012.
On the fiction side, three of my short stories—Equilibrium (romance), Half and Half (mystery/suspense), and Negative Space (literary), have been published in ebook format through Untreed Reads.

Equilibrium: A short story from the Candlelight romance line.
Worn out at the end of an ordinary day, Emily stops at a roadside diner, where she meets Jim, a sensitive man who intuitively understands her. Can she move beyond the pain of her broken marriage and rediscover the simple pleasures in life over a bowl of soup?

Half and Half: A short work of crime from the Fingerprints line.
It's Friday night at the local roadside diner when Roy stops in to fuel up for a night of gambling. He's got a bankroll, and the knockout at the bar just let him buy her a drink. It's boom or bust and the night is just getting started. Is Roy a high roller, or is someone else about to show him up?

Negative Space: A short story from the Nibs literary line.
After a recent miscarriage, a young artist shuts down emotionally. She separates herself from her feelings, seeing the world as a series of disconnected shapes and forms. As she returns to her art, she begins to look for ways to move beyond the pain of loss. Can she find the strength to leave the negative space of isolation and reconnect with her husband?

You can find these short stories at the Untreed Reads Store (www.untreedreads.com), at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and most places where ebooks are sold.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
I wrote my first book The Parents’ Guide to Hip Dysplasia to fill an unmet need. I have hip dysplasia, which is how I learned about that condition. At the time I wrote it, there were no books in print about hip dysplasia, and very few resources for families. I found I liked writing about pediatric orthopedic topics, which led to my decision to write The Parents’ Guide to Clubfoot.

On the fiction side, I get ideas from everyday life.
Most of my work has contemporary, realistic settings. I got the idea for Equilibrium from a newspaper story about a divorce. Half and Half grew out of some bits and pieces of an odd conversation I overheard at IHOP, and Negative Space emerged from my experience editing a nonfiction book about postpartum depression.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
I read a lot of different authors and a variety of genres—nonfiction, literary, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, and once in awhile I’ll read some chick lit. In the new year I’m going to try to put more of what I read up on Goodreads. The books on my “to read” shelf include The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party, which is the latest in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith , and A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan, which is the next selection in the book club that I’m in. I like being in a book club because I discover interesting books that I might not otherwise know about.

5) What's your next writing project?
I’m working on a young adult novel with the working title All She Wants to Do Is Dance. It’s about a teenager on a high school dance team who undergoes hip surgery. I’m in touch with a number of teens who have been through this surgery, and it’s a very intense experience. I know that paranormal is hot right now, but I believe there’s room for contemporary realistic fiction too. My aim is to appeal to teens in general with this novel. Teens are great and I love capturing a glimpse of their world view.

L. Gibbs (ldgibbs) 1) What is your name and bio?
My name is L. Darby Gibbs (answer to Elldee). I write poetry, short story and novels, mostly science fiction. I have lived all over the U.S., spending most of my time on the two coasts. I have a blog which I use to talk about writing related topics. I also post a weekly writing prompt every Tuesday (creative writing teacher, so I can’t help myself).

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
My book is titled In Times Passed (Book 1 in my Students of Jump series)
It is published on Smashwords.com http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...

Short Synopsis - Brent Garrett is an impulsive twenty-something year old who managed to manipulate a normal nerg box (energy replacement unit about the size of a phone booth) and wound up with a time machine. He has not applied himself to any worthwhile project, which as a member of Meredith Complex he is expected to do. So a leap into the past seemed to be just the recipe for getting away from expectations he wasn't fulfilling and finding new expectations to meet. But things are not what he expected. They never are.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
Anywhere and everywhere, from music to dreams, to my husband saying, “Write about a planet that is all desert with rivers that run underground. And call the story Gardens in the Cracks.” I even wrote one story sitting in my car during my lunch hour looking out at John Deere trackers parked waiting for maintenance in the lot across from me. And yes, the story had a tractor in it.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
I am currently enjoying finding new SciFi authors to read, but my standing favorites are Jasper Fforde, Robert Heinlein, Poul Anderson, Terry Brooks, J. R. R. Tolkien, Larry Niven, Andre Norton ..., many of the masters.

5) What's your next writing project?
I am currently working on an anthology of SciFi stories called Gardens in the Cracks and Other Stories.
I also have three other books in my Students of Jump series that are drafted and in edit.

Can I just make one comment? I don't mean to be unkind but one of my pet hates is when the author tells me what the book IS, (I don't mean what it is about) but when they describe the book as ... in your case, 'mesmerizing' and 'hauntingly beautiful'. I WILL decide whether it is 'mesmerizing' or not. Authors should not make judgements on their own work.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
Book 1: Christwire Handbook: A national media sensation, ChristWire.org takes righteousness beyond the bounds of reason. You can’t argue the truth. If God didn’t send tornadoes to warn blacks about rap music, who did? If your husband isn’t a closet gay, he must secretly be Chinese. Don’t send your son to college unless you want to expose him to the dangers of vajazzling. This is no joke, folks. ChristWire is here to save the world from falling into the hands of sanity.

Book 2: Airith - Death of a True Love
“And then we touched in a way that only true lovers could.”

Earth is split into two warring factions.

The only hope for the world’s safety is two lovers that share a connection greater than love itself and use that bond to save Earth from total annihilation.

In the end, one lover will die to save the other’s life.

Andrew Chamberlain (andychamberlain) | 49 comments What is your name and bio?

My name is Andrew Chamberlain, and I am a novelist, ghostwriter and creative writing tutor. I have a wide range of tastes in terms of what I like to write; I tend to let my imagination explore a theme and just see what happens. My work is influenced by my Christian faith, sometimes very overtly, as with my 2004 novel Urban Angel; and sometimes very subtly, if at all. There is often a tension in my writing because I like to explore dark and sometimes violent themes and place these in a moral context.
I also love the short story form and have recently self-published a couple of titles for the ebook market through Smashwords. I enjoy teaching elements of creative writing and I am a regular tutor on the Lakes School of Writing courses in England. http://lakesschool.com

What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My novel Urban Angel is a Christian supernatural thriller; set in a contemporary environment it explores the battle between spiritual good and evil, and the nature of human in the intensity of an urban environment. This novel would appeal to anyone who is interested in exploring this subject from the Christian worldview. It is available in print from Amazon, and I will be available in e-book format very soon via Smashwords. I hope to publish a sequel to Urban Angel in the next few months.
Additionally I have ghost-written the stories of some amazing people who have had their lives transformed by an encounter with God. These titles also available on Amazon are: A night out with the boys, Conquering the dragon, and the best-selling Once an Addict.
Aside from my Christian writing I have also self-published a couple of titles in ebook format through Smashwords: Scouting for Lucy a short story in the romantic genre that has received very positive reviews,
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...

and Precious Cargo which is a sci-fi / mystery tale
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...

The former is a free download, and the latter is free with the coupon code: CF63P until the end of February 2012.

Where do you come up with your ideas?

I think most writers are like magpies, in that we collect anything unusual and interesting – people, emotions, and situations. We collect these things in the hope that they might give us inspiration in the future. I don’t go out looking for these ideas but if I hear about something or experience it myself, I will store it for future use!

What books / authors do you like to read?

Again it’s a wide range of works, much of it in the fantasy / sci-fi / weird fiction genres. I think my favourite authors would be: China Mieville, who is a genius of weird fiction, Neil Gaiman, and Iain Banks.
What’s your next writing project?

I have two on the go at the moment. One is going to be for the YA market; it’s going to be a Sci-Fi thriller aimed at the male audience. This is an exceptionally hard market to get in to but the market was dictated by the story, so that’s where I had to go.
The other project draws on my Christian heritage and will be an exploration of the struggles people have with faith; the book will act as a guide, and indeed is written as a kind of travel guide, for those who are distant from God and want to somehow find their way back.

My name Hock Tjoa; I was born in Singapore but have lived in the U.S. for a long time. I am retired from banking, finance, etc. and trying to trace my Chinese roots.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
My first book was "The Battle of Chibi" selections that I translated from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a Chinese classic that I believe deserves a wider audience. It is available from Amazon at http://amzn.to/yqm0h5. It is difficult to wish for an abridgment of "The Lord of the Ring" but a non-western classic that has more than 1000 in its cast of characters needs to be pruned some.
My second attempt at making more of Chinese history and literature available is "Heaven is High and the Emperor Far Away, a Play" which is adapted from Lao She's Tea House. That play has over 70 characters and the drama unfolds over 50 years; it now takes place over 25 years and has 25 characters. This does not necessarily make it better but I hope it leads some to read or even perform this marvelous Dickensian work.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
These two works came out of "homework" I did when I got bored with the exercises in the teach yourself Mandarin books that I had been using.

Christopher (ubersoft) 1) What is your name and bio?

My name is Christopher Wright. I was born in Virginia, currently live in West (By God) Virginia, and have been doing Irresponsible Internet Things for a very long time. I have, for example, been publishing a web comic since 1996. Last year I also started publishing fiction. Very recently I consolidated all my Mad Internet Ventures into a single place, Eviscerati.Org, where I fully intend to show them, to show them all... I just haven't figured out how.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

Pay Me, Bug! is a cheerfully irreverent space opera...

Grif Vindh, Captain of the Fool's Errand, just pulled off the job of a lifetime: against all odds, he and his crew smuggled a rare anti-aging drug out of Ur Voys, one of the most secretive and secure facilities in the Empire of the Radiant Throne. It was every smuggler's dream, the "Big Score," and they find themselves filthy rich as a result.

But their good fortune attracts exactly the wrong kind of attention: the Alliance of Free Worlds has been trying to infiltrate Ur Voys without success, so they conscript the only man who has: Grif Vindh. The Radiant Throne, desperate to know how their security was so easily thwarted, send one of their best to track him down and learn the truth... by any means necessary. Grif and his crew must perform the impossible a second time: break into Ur Voys, steal something so secretive their employers don't really know what it is, and get away clean.

Along the way they'll have to deal with deadly spies, psychotic telepaths, vicious cyborgs, inconvenient family ties... and a hyperintelligent bug who always bets against its captain.

The book can be found in a number of places:

On my website, in serial form.

On Amazon.com, in Kindle format.

On BarnesandNoble.com, in ePub format.

On Smashwords, in ePub and other formats.

On
Seriously though, it depends on the story. For Pay Me, Bug!, the novel was originally a short story that wound up being the first four chapters, and the rest of the story was a result of me asking myself "what are the consequences of winning that big?" My current work-in-progress was based on a feeling I'd get when I would drive late at night down a particular highway that was lined with trees.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

Susan Cooper is probably one of my favorite authors. The Dark is Rising books are definitely my favorite series. Also... Larry Niven, Harry Harrison, Fritz Lieber, C. S. Lewis, Charles Williams.

5) What's your next writing project?

I am currently writing a novel in serial form called The Points Between, a modern, almost Southern Gothic fantasy that is sort of an homage to Charles Williams (which is weird, becuse he isn't even remotely Southern, but there you are). It's currently being published chapter by chapter on Eviscerati.Org (with audio podcasts) and will be converted to various eBook formats later this year.

Yuriy Shishkov (yuriyshishkov) | 5 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

Yuriy Shishkov. Born in the USSR in 1964. All my life I was struggling with our cruel Soviet regime. Witnessed and felt on my own skin the tyranny of the totalitarian system, survived Chernobyl catastrophe and KGB oppressions. Began making guitars literally underground in a root cellar. I had to hide my passion, since it was a form of a Capitalism. After risky attempt to move to USA I became a professional guitar maker in America, building guitars for musicians, collectors and many famous artists.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

"If Guitars Could Talk". You can download it from Amazon, B&N or iBooks.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Well, its my life. Life in the USSR, and not only mine but also my family and other people's. It covers everything from our social life, schools, politics, and Soviet music. Its hard to mention topic which has not been discussed in my book. Many years of notes, memories and recollections fall into a 460 page book.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I have very limited time to read due to my load of work, but if I can, I read about life of monks and holy people. To do what these people do is impossible without true blessing of God.

5) What's your next writing project?

I have to write description of my next art-guitar at work... Once again, it will have precious metals, stones and diamonds. When completed, It will be a "book", but in a physical form.

My name is Lana Bradstream. I grew up on a ranch in South Dakota and worked as a newspaper journalist and editor for 11 years after high school. I recently moved to Tulsa.

2) What is the title and synopsis of your book? Where can readers find it?
My book is ETHEREAL INFLUENCE: THE BIRTH.

Synopsis: A person's faith can waiver when life becomes difficult. It is during those times when God's angels can appear and attempt to deliver guidance. Alas, God is not the only one with angels. The death of Laura's baby shakes her faith to the core, leaving her open and vulnerable. With her faith in the balance, her soul becomes the battle ground between good and evil. The angels Ben and Ryan war with one another over whether or not Laura's faith can be restored or her plunge into darkness will continue.

This first book in the ETHEREAL INFLUENCE series can be found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble for your Kindle or Nook.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
My ideas are generated from everyday experiences and emotions. I also have a very active imagination. While I am doing my day-to-day tasks, my mind will keep me entertained. Also, other books and movies will spark ideas for me.

4) What books or authors do you like?
It is hard for me to pick a favorite. The authors I really enjoy include Shakespeare, Dr. Seuss (old favorites die hard), Anne Rice, Dan Brown, John Grisham, Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. I tend to read and enjoy almost anything. I steer clear of romances, though. My favorite book is 1984.

5) What is your next writing project?
I am currently working on two novels -- the second in the ETHEREAL INFLUENCE series. This book centers around the Inquisition. The other novel I am working on is a horror entitled LIVING IN HELL.

Harold Titus. I grew up in Southern California, graduated from UCLA, and taught eighth-grade students English and American history in Orinda, CA. I coached many of the school's boys and girls sports teams. I retired in 1991, moved to Oregon, and am active in state politics.

2) What is the title and synopsis of your book?
"Crossing the River." Real and semi-fictional characters bring to life General Thomas Gage's failed attempt April 19, 1775, to have military stores stockpiled at Concord, Massachusetts Colony, seized and destroyed. People of high and ordinary station, choosing to or forced to participate, must confront their worst fears. Revealing the internal conflicts, hubris, stupidity, viciousness, valor, resiliency, and empathy of many of the day's participants, the historical novel is both a study of man experiencing intense conflict and the varied outcomes of high-risk decision-taking.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
Intriguing stories about people living in interesting times. Researching the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the British army's subsequent retreat, I discovered in various town histories accounts of ordinary people thrusted into extraordinary cincumstances. Journal entries of junior British officers presented a different perspective of the events. Using this material and my imagination, I was able to create an accurate narrative of an important historical event and portray universal human conflicts.

4) What books or authors do you like?
Historical novels mostly with strong characters. Winston Graham's Poldark novels, Patrick O'Brian's sea-faring novels, A. B. Guthrie Jr.'s novels of the West, Wallace Stegner to name a few.

5) What is your next writing project?
Possibly resuming a narrative of the Roanoke settlements during the 1580s.

Christina Mobley, I am a stay at home mother with "completely full hands" as most of my friends say. I have four children ages 3, 5, 10, and 11. The 11-year-old has Autism. After realizing that there is no good childcare for special needs children with aggression problems I became a stay at home mom. My husband works a lot so I cleaned, went to appointments and moved furniture when I got bored. Then about three years ago, I discovered I like to write. I did not care that I had no idea how to write--I simply liked it and decided to figure out the rest later. Now I have finished one novel(The Vangeretta Curse ~Elementris~) and I am working on the second (TVC ~Exposure~)

3) Where do you come up with your ideas? The idea for TVC came to me by this one little thing I made up “She’s like a wild and out of control wind, but also the most beautiful storm you have ever seen.” I liked to pretend I could make the wind blow when I was a child and fooled my little brother quite a few times by timing the wind just right. You should have seen the look on his face. 

4) What books/authors do you like to read? Nora Roberts, White Oleander, The absence of Nectar, and pretty much any book that has a paranormal element in it.

5) What's your next writing project? Half way through with The Vangeretta Curse ~Exposure~ the second book in hopefully a series of five. Also, working on my first Vamp book; I just had to do it hehe. It’s called After Ever.

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 242 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

My name is Cheryl Landmark, and I live in a small hamlet called Gros Cap just west of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada on the magnificent shores of Lake Superior with my husband, Mike, and furry kid, Misty. I work full time as a sales analyst for a lottery corporation and love reading, doing challenging jigsaw puzzles, or enjoying the great outdoors.

I’m the author of two fantasy novels and a young adult adventure.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My latest fantasy novel is called POOL OF SOULS. Here’s a brief synopsis of it:

On the world called Regalis, the domains are ruled by kings and queens and mages wield great power. Queen Saranor, ruler of the Janix domain, is no longer content with reigning solely over her own queendom. She has become insanely greedy and ambitious and, with the help of the powerful mage, Nostrimus, and a soul-killing talisman called the Pool of Souls, she sets out on a brutal, bloody campaign to rule all of Regalis. Her bid for world dominance, however, is challenged by a rebellion led by General Darnellis Viadon, the former commander of her troops.

After her brother leaves their small hometown to join the general’s rebellion, twenty-two year old Cazlina Narzin decides to follow in his footsteps and enlist in the army as well. But, once away from the safety and isolation of Rothtown in the company of her loyal companion, Miris, Cazlina soon discovers that the battle zeal and passion she harbors to help rid the world of the renegade queen may not be enough to protect her from the danger and evil threatening her world.

Readers can find all three of my books at the following sites:

Amazon
CreateSpace
Smashwords
Barnes and Noble
And other ebook sites

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

I am blessed (or, cursed) with a very active imagination and have been since I was a child. Often, ideas or characters or snippets of dialogue will suddenly pop into my head and I’ll have an “Aha!” moment that inspires me to turn those ideas into a novel. I’m an insatiable reader and enjoy losing myself in imaginary worlds, so I decided as a kid that I was going to create my own realms that other people could journey to as well.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

As I said, I’m a prolific reader and will read almost any fiction genre. But, my first love is fantasy/science fiction and some of my favourite authors in that genre include J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne McCaffrey, Jim Butcher, George R.R. Martin, J.K. Rowling, Brandon Sanderson and Robin Hobb. Next is urban fantasy/paranormal with the likes of Jim Butcher, Kelley Armstrong, Julie Kagawa, Jeaniene Frost, and so on. For mystery/suspense/horror, my favourites include Stephen King and Agatha Christie.

5) What's your next writing project?

I’m currently working on a dog detective series, which I hope will be published early this summer. After that, it’s on to a sequel to my young adult adventure novel SHADOWS IN THE BROOK. And then…well, let’s just say I have visions of more fantasies in the near future!

I am a NY Giants, Syracuse Orange Basketball, Michigan Wolverines ( football ), and NY Yankee fan.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

The name of my Kindle Book is the Dead War Series, Book 1.

The US Army doesn't run from any enemy, living......or dead! In the year 2053 the dead walked. Mankind was caught off guard at first but within six years mounted a massive military assault on the dead. These are the stories of some of those men and women that fought back.

The book is available at Amazon for $1.50 : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006YEKJXO

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

The idea for The Dead War Series came from the fact that I am prior military and also that I love the AMC show The Walking Dead. I love military action adventures and I wanted to combine that with a zombie apocalypse type story.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

On the Kindle I have brought books in the zombie genre by many independent authors such as The Plague by M. Scott Burgess, Deadlocked by A.R. Wise, Contagion by L.I. Albemont, and of course World War Z by Max Brooks.

5) What's your next writing project?

I am currently working on a horror story titled Gargoyle which is a homage to the old monster movies that used to come on TV on a Saturday afternoon. Once that's finished it's right back to writing The Dead War Series Book 2: Abomination.

Hello everyone, my name is Jim Rada, though I publish my books under James Rada, Jr. I live in Gettysburg, PA, and have been a professional writer for nearly 25 year. (Boy, that sounds old.) I am the author of 7 novels. These include the historical novels Canawlers, October Mourning, Between Rail and River and The Rain Man. His other novels are Logan’s Fire, Beast and My Little Angel. I also have 2 non-fiction books published, which are Battlefield Angels: The Daughters of Charity Work as Civil War Nurses and Looking Back: True Stories of Mountain Maryland.

I have received two dozen awards from the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association, Associated Press, Maryland State Teachers Association and Community Newspapers Holdings, Inc. for my newspaper writing. Though I still do some newspaper writing, including two local history columns, most of my articles are in national and regional magazines like History Channel Magazine.

I also run 2 blogs: Time Will Tell (historyarchive.wordpress.com) covers history news, reviews and some of my articles and Whispers in the Wind (jimrada.wordpress.com) is more about the writing life.

My books are available and online retailers, bookstores and www.aimpublishinggroup.com.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My most recent book is Battlefield Angels: The Daughters of Charity Work as Civil War Nurses.

When the Civil War broke out, the Union and the Confederacy were prepared to fight, but they weren’t prepared to care for their battle wounded. While many people volunteered to care for the soldiers, the only ones with any experience were Catholic sisters.

Among the sisters, the most-experienced were the Daughters of Charity based in Emmitsburg, MD. When war broke out, they had already been caring for the sick for decades.

“The country had only 600 trained nurses at the start of the Civil War. All were Catholic nuns. This is one of the best-kept secrets in our nation’s history,” Civil War chaplain Father William Barnaby Faherty once said.

Nearly 700 Catholic sisters from 22 orders provided some sort of service during the Civil War. The Daughters of Charity provided the largest number—around 300—to serve in the war.

Once the smoke dispersed and the armies moved on, the Daughters of Charity and other medical personnel moved in to help those left behind on the battlefield. Battlefield Angels captures the primitive conditions in which the medical staff of both armies worked to try and save lives.

The brutality of the war tested even the Daughters of Charity’s abilities as they ran hospitals, served on troop transports and provided care in battlefield hospitals and ambulances. Armies from both sides of the war even occupied the sisters’ Central House at times.

The Daughters of Charity had such a high level of trust among the government officials that they were allowed in the early part of the war to move back and forth across the border between North and South. Battlefield Angels follows them as they are called to serve in Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. In some cases, soldiers had sisters caring for them on the battlefield, during their transport and at a hospital.

With their wide, white cornettes looking almost like wings, the Daughters of Charity did resemble battlefield angels. The sight of those wing-like cornettes told soldiers that relief was on the way; someone who cared for them was coming.

Battlefield Angels is available at local bookstores and specialty shops or at www.aimpublishinggroup.com.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Most of my ideas come from my reading of history books and historic newspapers. I’ll be researching an article and come across something else that I think deserves more attention than an article and I’ll put it aside in my idea file.

Sometimes my ideas come when my brain make connections between different topics I’ve read about and I see a way to connect them and present them in a different way. For instance, with my novel, Canawlers, I wanted to write a novel that brought life on the canal alive. As I pondered how to do that, I realized that the C&O Canal, running along the north side of the Potomac River as it did, was essentially the border between the North and South during the Civil War. I used the setting of the Civil War to show how life on the canal was and how war changed it.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

For non-fiction, I like David McCullough, Erik Larson, Nathaniel Philbrick and Laura Hillenbrand.

For fiction, I like Orson Scott Card, Brandon Sanderson, David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Robert Crais and Dean Koontz.

5) What's your next writing project?

I’ve got 2 books due out this year.

Looking Back II: More True Stories of Mountain Maryland is a follow-up to my non-fiction collection from a couple years ago. It’s due out this summer.

Saving Shallmar: Christmas in a Coal Town is a non-fiction book I’m very excited about that’s due out in the fall. It’s about the people in a small coal-mining town who were literally starving to death one Christmas and what was done to help them. I was able to track down some former residents who were kids at the time as well as finding an unpublished manuscript from a miner who worked in the town at the time. I’ve even got plenty of never-before-published pictures. Plus, I think it reads very well. I’m anxious to see how well it does on the market.

Thanks for your time. If you decide to give my books a chance, you won't be disappointed. Let me know what you think either way.

My name is Hope Welsh. I write romance--paranormal and romantic suspense. I've worked as a journalist, police officer, an EMT, Search & Rescue, and a high school English teacher.

I have found that I tend to use elements from my work choices often in my writing. It's a perk when I don't have to research police procedure or medical issues much--I lived them.

Nice to meet you all--I love reading. I've been writing for nearly thirty years.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

I have three books up currently. FORBIDDEN & ONCE BITTEN is a vampire anthology--pretty steamy--not quite erotic. Forbidden & once Bitten Two connecting stories.

LINKED is a paranormal romance. Lana and Cole must solve an ancient prophecy--in time. Evil is watching and time is running out. It's on Amazon exclusively. Linked

The third is THE STORM WITHIN & TABLE FOR TWO--an anthology of two stories. Romantic suspense. It's 99 cents right now on Amazon or Barnes & Noble--though Goodreads won't let me change the cover.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Everywhere--tv, life, and a lot from dreams.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

Some of my favorite authors are Linda Howard, Linda Wisdom, Amanda Hocking, HP Mallery, Susan Bischoff, Imogen Rose -- I enjoy romance and YA.

5) What's your next writing project? Right now, I'm working on a YA titled LET THERE BE LIGHT and the sequel to LINKED-- HOLDING THE LINK (Prophecy Series Book Two)

Ross Harrison (rossharrison) | 10 comments 1) What is your name and bio?
My name is Ross Harrison, recently published sci fi author. I'm English, but moved to Ireland about 11 years ago, and have lived here ever since. I've been writing for as long as I can remember - though with my memory, that isn't saying much.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
My book is Shadow of the Wraith, science fantasy, space opera type thing.

Travis Archer, who fancies himself a space cowboy, is tasked with tracking down and destroying an apparent ghost ship, the Star Wraith. It destroys everything in its path, and now it's headed towards human space. But when Archer and his team board the Wraith, they discover that it is merely a symptom of a much larger problem. The next step is to bring an end to a 16,000 year old war.

Shadow of the Wraith is available in hardback and ebook, from Amazon US and Amazon UK.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
I don't know.

Maybe I should write a little more on that.

I generally plan out a very basic plot, or perhaps just where it starts, and then I start writing. It just comes to me as I go. Often, I can be reading a book and suddenly a plot point will come to me, and yet it is nothing whatsoever to do with the book I'm reading. So who knows? Not me!

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
Terry Pratchett is probably my favourite author. I also love the two Dirk Gently books from Douglas Adams. Other than that, I don't read a huge amount. I've read some Peter F Hamilton and Iain M Banks, and like them both, but they are a little hard to keep up with - not strictly speaking my kind of sci fi.

I actually quite like YA books, just because they can be so innocent and...well, nice. It's good to be able to read something like that now and then.

5) What's your next writing project?
Next up is editing book 2 of my science fantasy series, NEXUS, and then publishing it, too. Then I'll move on to finish off book 3, which I have already written nearly half of.

I also have a short story in the works, which is nothing to do with space or aliens or shooting at all. But it requires me to be in a certain mood to write, so I'm not getting much done on it at present.

Thank you for this thread :)

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) | 172 comments 1) What is your name and bio?
I'm Sherri Fulmer Moorer. By day, I work as a program assistant in professional licensing. By night, I write novels from my home in the woods with my husband, Rick, and our 3 birds: Sun conures Zack and Chloe and budgie Oliver

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
I have published 4 books:

Anywhere But Hereis a mystery novel about a young woman that battles the demon of depression - literally! It was released by Whiskey Creek Press in April.

Blurryis a young adult mystery novel about a girl that finds her perfect life turned upside down when she discovers that many of her friends are involved in a dangerous double life in their small town. This book was published by Wings ePress in August 2011.

Quarantineis a mystery novel about four women that are quarantined at work, and discover that the dark secrets in their small town might be more dangerous than the virus spreading through the office. I self published this book through Smashwords in September 2011.

Battleground Earth: Living by Faith in a Pagan Worldis a Christian/inspirational novel about unlocking the potential of your faith and living your best life. It was published by PublishAmerica in 2004.

I also self published two short works that are available for free:

Resonanceis a horror long story about two college students that experience strange events in the woods around their home when one of them buys a mysterious painting.

So You Want to Be a Writeris a short guide for beginners that want to get started as a writer.

These books are available at http://www.amazon.com/author/sherrimo... and more information is available on my website at http://www.sherrithewriter.com

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
Real life is the inspiration. I draw on everything: People, places, and events that I experience, that others talk about, and that I read of in the news. I also read a good bit and find that inspiring as well.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
I am a fan of mysteries and science fiction, although I admit to reading a wide variety of things. I particularly like J.R.R. Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, Christopher Paolini, P.D. James, R.A. Salvatore, Ben Bova, and I recently discovered Kim Stanley Robertson. In non-fiction I like Joyce Meyer and Charles Swindoll.

5) What's your next writing project?
The end of the world is just the beginning in my recently completed science fiction novel titled "Splinter." It takes place in the year 3001 on a space station orbiting Jupiter and I am currently querying it to my publishers with fingers crossed that one of them will publish it.

I'm currently working on a murder mystery novel titled "Move." It's about a young woman that can't get a break and is always getting stepped on. She unknowingly makes an agreement with a djinn, and that just makes things worse.

I also have 2 projects on the drawing board. One is a follow up to Battleground Earth. I actually wrote it many years ago but dropped it when I switched to fiction. I'm thinking about taking it back up and doing updates and rewrites. It's about living by faith, but I'm thinking of rewriting it to focus more on unlocking your full potential.

The second project is a guide to being a bird owner. I'm not a biologist, but I've had birds as pets since I was 10 years old and would like to share what I've learned as a "mother hen" to helping these wonderful pets thrive and reach their maximum life expectancy. There's really a gap in this market, as there are plenty of books on cats and dogs, but few on birds - yet there are lots of bird owners out there.

Rebecca Douglass (rdouglass) | 212 comments I'm in!

Name and bio:
I'm Rebecca Douglass, mild-mannered library aide by day, author, schools volunteer, and mother of (gulp) teens the rest of the day. Usually unconscious by night. I was largely raised in WA state, but have lived in the SF Bay Area since 1994, with my spouse and (after a bit) two boys.

What is my book and where?
My books is The Ninja Librarian, a collection of tall tales that tell the story of a very fictional town called Skunk Corners. All is predictable there, if not very pleasant, until an older librarian gets off the train and proves that looks can be deceiving--and that the town doesn't have to be such an awful place.

The book is available at Amazon (as a paperback or Kindle) as well as at B&N (Nook) and Smashwords.
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Rebecca-M-Dougl...

Where do I get my ideas?
Anywhere and everywhere. Usually in a way from life, but exaggeration seems to come naturally to me, so even my "realistic" fiction (some of which may eventually become available) has a certain element of hyperbole--and humor. Many of the adventures in The Ninja Librarian grew out of incidents at the library. The original idea grew out of one smart-aleck comment by the reference librarian, who bears a surprising physical resemblance to the book's eponymous hero.

What books/authors do I like to read?
I have pretty eclectic (or was that eccentric?) tastes. I am a big fan of humor: P.G. Wodehouse, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett (thanks to the folks in the Humor group1). I also enjoy mysteries: Dorothy Sayers, Jacqueline Winspeare, Aaron Elkins, Dana Stabenow, Nancy Atherton, Nevada Barr, Peter Bowen. . . Likewise juvenile lit (upper elem more than YA, as the latter is usually too full of teen romantic angst for me): Richard Peck, Brian Jacques, Christopher Paul Curtis, Louisa May Alcott, L.M. Montgomery. I incline a lot to historical juvvy, and learn a lot there.

Oh, yeah, I like non-fiction, too, especially history, and science/natural science to stretch my English-lit brain a bit.

Next writing project:
About 1/3 to 1/2 through the sequel to my first book. When that's done, I want to revisit some older works, including a mystery about a murder in the Pissmawallops Island PTA (see what I mean about not taking anything too seriously?).

2)What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My book is titled Buried Secrets and can be found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Buried-Secrets-...

Synopsis-

How do you live with yourself when you don't even know who you are?

On a chill October night, a girl goes missing setting the small town of Oakridge on edge. James has spent the last five years running from a past that still haunts him to this day. Now he finds himself thrust back into a life he thought he left behind. Finding out his new home may be haunted and reconnecting with an old friend while being thrust into a murder mystery, James finds himself trying to figure out which end is up while questioning his own sanity.

3)Where do you come up with your ideas?

My ideas usually come to me in a moment of quiet when I am folding laundry, brushing my teeth, or sleeping, although I have been known to dream up a storyline or two. I also try to take from my surroundings where I have gathered enough information to create one of my stories.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I have several. The author that made me want to write was the late L.A. Banks who used a mix of paranormal, romance, action/adventure, and religion to shape her stories. From there I have latched on to Richelle Mead, Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, Sherrilyn Kenyon, JR Ward, and so many more. The list is always growing!

5) What's your next writing project?

I am currently working on a series of short stories, but when those are finished; I plan to start work on the second novel in my Brotherhood series, A Warrior’s Betrayal, which I hope to release sometime this summer.

"Ripple the Twine" is A Tomboy-meets-Townie love story and tale about how friendship can save your life.

But a bag of peanut butter cups and a hockey game won't fix her issues. She's got to move past her emotional past without hiding behind her career for once. As an Irish gal who grew up in the Boston area loving sports and all things Tomboy, my characters are generally successful and slightly more neurotic versions of myself. I like to look into real situations, real life experiences, and draw out the central point to build a character. I read the Boston papers online, listen to my friends real life experiences and pull from my own to add life and vibrancy to my characters.

My current favorite books and Authors are generally about central female characters who show courage for everyday situations. My genres of choice are Chick-Lit and anything with a plucky voice. Jen Lancaster, Marian Keyes, Marisa de los Santos, Thomasina Burke, Caprice Crane...

I'm currently working on my second novel about an early 40's divorcee thrust into the modern dating world after being married for over 20 years. She's somewhat cynical and jaded from her experience but still believes love can be found. If only she didn't forget how to look for it!

One Moment In Time by Glenn Snyder One Moment In Time

With each step, Jack grew as a person and a leader; piecing together a family from different corners of the world, while risking himself and his family to save others. 3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
The idea for One Moment In Time actually came from a dream. It was one of those rare dreams that I remembered every detail long after I woke up. Most of my ideas really comes from my environment. I love to read, and I like to think that I have a pretty creative mind (despite the fact that my "career" is in finance).

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
I'm a big fan of political and legal thrillers. I like David Baldacci, James Grippando, Dan Brown, John Grisham (earlier stuff is the best), and Brad Thor.

5) What's your next writing project?

As the media paints a picture of him as a murderer and he is walked out of his office in handcuffs, his life falls apart around him. Claude Dancourt (claudedancourt) | 92 comments Greetings to all,

1) What's your name and bio?
My name is Claude Dancourt, and I'm complicated... I'm french-canadian, to the word: I was born in France but I live in Canada. I'm a hockey junkie, a book addict, a geologist, an engineer, a writer, I like to cook and when I manage to fit that in my schedule, sleep.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
I wrote two novels, a contemporary romance SECOND CHANCES and a historical fantasy RETURN TO CAER LON.
and a historical fantasy Both can be found on Amazon (click on the titles for links).

SECOND CHANCES is the story of Arthur and Maya, and how opposites attract. Arthur is a jerk, womanizer, workaholic, you name it. Maya is sweet, strongheaded when she wants to, and happy with her life. But Arthur needs help to keep his father at bay, and Maya needs help saving a child. Or what they both need is finding their right place in this world.

RETURN TO CAER LON is a sword&sorcery novel, based upon the Arthurian Legend. For Prince Derek Pendragon, what started as a simple rescue mission becomes a deadly quest for the forgotten capital of the High Kings when he is confronted with Wolfryth, the sorcerer who killed his father. With the beautiful Sacha by his side, Derek walks a thin line between Myth and History to uncover a city lost for three hundred years.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
Ideas for new stories come a bit from everywhere. While grocering shopping, in the shower, watching a movie, listening to the radio. Or even watching the sunset.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
Of course, I read a lot. Mostly action/adventure and fantasy. I'm into G.R.R. Martin at the moment. I own all Clive Cussler's novels, James Rollins and Douglas Preston&Child. I read Anne Rice, Elizabeth Peters, Agatha Christie, A. Connan Doyle, Shakespeare, etc. Funnily, my novels generally include a romantic element, but I rarely read pure romance. I prefer a story with strong romantic elements, like some of Nora Roberts' novels.

5) What's your next writing project?
My current project is a paranormal fantasy, MOONSHADOWS. I hope you will visit my website to know more about me and my writing.

My name is Kay Glass. I'm a wife of nearly six year, and the mother of two beautiful children. I've been a stay-at-home mom and one day I simply decided, "Instead of waiting for the kids to go to school so you can find a job you don't care about, why not start writing a book like you've always wanted to do?" I decided, hey, if it sucks, no one needs to know. Then one day it stopped being a story, and it's very real to me. Now it's my job, my career, a huge part of my life- but it's still a great deal of fun!

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

I'm currently writing the Just One Bite series, exclusively published on Amazon Kindle. They're also available on Amazon in paperback format.

Taste of Grief will be released July 15th, with paperback copies to follow about a week later.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Mainly from dreams, actually. I'll have these really strange dream and be compelled to write them down. Before I know it, I have the beginning of a short story, or a book series if I'm very lucky!

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

Oh, a little bit of everything! I started with authors like Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Robin Cook, JD Robb/ Nora Roberts, Laurell K. Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and many, many others. Now I'm reading mainly indies, and I've not only found that I like their stories just as much, but many of them have become friends as well. Authors like Aiden James, Natalie Gibson, CJ Ellisson, and Solitaire Parke to name a few. I just love to read, and I'm finding just as much enjoyment in reviewing as I do reading the stories.

5) What's your next writing project?

I'm finishing up Taste of Grief now, and I plan to start on the fourth book in the series, Bite of Envy, not long after completing it. I'm also writing Teach Me, My Love, a short erotic story under the pen name Kendra Glenn. I plan on starting a new series as well called Strange Curses. All I know for certain is that there's plenty more to come!

M.B. Brophy (mbbrophy) | 5 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

MB Brophy

I'm a writer and writing teacher with a PhD in creative writing from the University of St. Andrews. I'm a longtime Los Angeles resident and the former owner/operator of a walking tour company devoted to mysteries and scandals in the neighborhood around the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My e-book, Mayor of Hollywood, should be available through Amazon in August. In the meantime, readers can check out a sample chapter on my website: http://www.marybethbrophy.com/MOH.html

Former teen star Lucy Cassidy has a new movie out, a stalker, and a murder to solve. When a Hollywood agent with whom she shares a dark history is found dead on the same spot as an 80-year old homicide, Lucy must solve the murder and uncover its connection to a series of threats on her life. As the mystery unravels, old and new Hollywood come together, and no one is safe.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

I love researching local history, and this novel evolved out of a story from my old walking tour: A candidate for municipal court judge murdered an organized crime figure and a journalist. I wanted to explore the ways that the past can reach into the present, and the novel just naturally evolved from there.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I read a lot. Favorite mystery authors include Sue Grafton, PD James, Dorothy L Sayers, Jasper Fforde, and Faye Kellerman. Other favorites are Jack Kerouac, Jon Krakauer, Sarah Vowell, and JK Rowling.

5) What's your next writing project?

I've got a few story ideas in the works, but my focus at the moment is a sequel to Mayor of Hollywood, which I see as the first in a series featuring my protagonist Lucy Cassidy. I'm hoping to have the new one finished by the end of the year.

Bruce | 5 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

Bruce Gatenby

I grew up in California, but have spent the last 15 years living overseas, in places as diverse as Rome, Venice, Umbria, Munich, Berlin, Paris, Switzerland and Dubai. I've written several books, a dozen screenplays (including two with the producer of the hit film "Scent of a Woman" and published articles and stories in magazines in the US, UK, and Europe, including 3AM Magazine and The Lowestoft Chronicle. "The Kingdom of Absurdities" is my first novel and "An Anthology of Misfortune" is my first collection of stories. You can also find a new story by me in "Far Flung and Foreign: The Lowestoft Chronicle Anthology 2012."

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

THE KINGDOM OF ABSURDITIES

America 2012: All the madness, insanity and absurdity we witness everyday in politics, journalism and personal life, began in the laboratories of humanities departments in academia in the 1980s, when English professors, based upon their ability to read, decided they were experts in EVERYTHING and unleashed the virus of Political Correctness on an unsuspecting nation.

Wielding the unholy trinity of race, class and gender, academics seized power not only in academia, but in journalism and politics as well, creating our current dystopia, THE KINDGOM OF ABSURDITIES.

Return with us now to those days way back in the 1980s with Chase, a grad student in English at The University of Southern Arizona (U of SA), where he discovers and attempts to lead a one-person revolution against the triple-headed hydra of Political Correctness as it crawls its way out of academia into the USA. Savagely funny, indignant and politically incorrect, THE KINGDOM OF ABSURDITIES is an all-too- timely warning against not only letting the lunatics take over the asylum, but letting them loose to run the rest of the world...

http://www.amazon.com/The-Kingdom-of-...

AN ANTHOLOGY OF MISFORTUNE

These 22 stories from Bruce Gatenby, author of “The Kingdom of Absurdities,” explore the lives of people struggling to live and love in places as different and diverse as Dubai, Marrakech, Brooklyn, Paris, Idaho, Rome, Munich and Seattle. In "A Guided Tour of Life" a man quits his job at the World Bank and moves to Paris not to become a writer; “An Unfinished Mystery” follows a Palestinian private detective as he decides whether or not to track down a businessman’s missing daughter; in “A Big Cloud,” an homage to James Joyce, an expatriate returns home after 8 years of knocking around Europe; “Pindar’s Apes” is a darkly funny study of academic neurosis; “Roma/Amor” and “The Brenner Pass” explore the sexual politics of The Eternal City; “Sand” shows us the capitalist hierarchy of life in glittering Dubai; In “Kierkegaard For Beginners” a Brooklyn architect discovers the emptiness of material life; “3 By (Not) Me revisits Virginia Woolf’s stream of consciousness in “The Waves” via Samuel Beckett’s linguistic vision; “The Debris of Life and Mind” and “Marrakech” trace the destruction of a long distance relationship, and “Making Movies” reveals the folly of artistic pretention in the world of independent film. These stories, ranging from one paragraph to a novella, are funny, sad, satirical, shocking, but always insightful and revelatory about globalized life in the 21st century, ultimately addressing the question: how do you write about happiness?

We are two traditionally published writers who formed the writing partnership Lambert Nagle with the aim to publish intelligent thrillers. We are British/Kiwi and Irish serial ex-pats and that is reflected in the locations we've chosen as the setting for our first novel. Alison has a background in film and TV production an screenwriting while Sean has a day job as Professor of Film at Goldsmiths, University of London.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?
Our first book under the pen-name Lambert Nagle is Revolution Earth. It's about a naïve young woman who gets in way over her head when she tries to take on the injustices of the world – only to find out that the target she cared so passionately about had simply moved.
Revolution Earth is published on Amazon KDP Select and the book is currently priced at $3.05 or £1.96 for UK readers.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?
Our characters are what drive our stories. We conjured up this character, a naïve young woman who gets in too deep and plotted the story on a long and lonely car journey as we travelled behind a truck full of the raw material for uranium when we were in Australia's Northern Territory.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?
We read intelligent thrillers and are particular fans of Nordic noir – books, films and TV series from authors such as Henning Mankell, Stieg Larrson to John le Carre. But we also as individuals read very widely – poetry, non-fiction, literary fiction.

5) What's your next writing project?
Our next thriller, part two in the Stephen Connor series will be about the trade in looted antiquities. We have a third novel in the trilogy, about people smuggling also in the pipeline.

I'm born, raised, and still living in the San Francisco Bay Area (Read as: the Suburbs) in the suburb that inspired the suburb that inspired Kurt Cobain to create the music that inspired Grunge. I like to think of it as the home to inspiration. There's also sprinkles of San Francisco proper, Los Angeles and Paris in there. After 10 years of writing about minor league baseball, I just e-published my first novel (which has nothing to do with baseball), and also write a webcomic called The SF Lunatic Fringe, which has everything to do with baseball. I also have a day job working for a fruit company, teaching people how to use our products.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

To Hell With Fate; or, Why The Best Valentine's Gifts Come From Mini-Marts is the story of a young man and the two girls he loved. It may seem like your prototypical high school crush story; the nerd loves the pretty popular preppy princess, but has an amazing friend...but it turns into anything but, with the regular suburban love story coming to a head in Paris. But like any good story, you know the ending before the story begins. It's all about how you get there, and in the end, this isn't just a story about young love, it's a story about how we're all just a little messed up.

To Hell WIth Fate can be found in all the major e-book stores worldwide, including but not limited to Untreed Reads, Kindle, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and Scribd.

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Well, there's this willow-like tree with long, dipping branches that wave in even a slight breeze, that sits at the east end of the park behind Notré Dame de Paris, and under it is a lonely park bench. For one week each spring, the tree blossoms. That's where, and when.

In all seriousness, inspiration comes from all aspects of my life. The people I meet, the things I see and do, and occasionally the change I want to see in the world.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

Neil Gaiman. Johnny Ives. Jayson Stark. Mark Twain, though I'd have preferred listening to reading. Other than that, it's about the story, not the author.

5) What's your next writing project?

Under consideration. When I finished To Hell With Fate; or, Why The Best Valentine's Gifts Come From Mini-Marts, I had three ideas to choose from. As I've gone through publishing and the first parts of marketing, I now have seven ideas, and one of the original ones went through significant changes. I've tested a couple of first chapters, but the final decision has yet to be made. Maybe I'll find another park bench soon.....

Deception Peak a YA adventure fantasy for boys and adventure loving girls! Teenage Ian Wilson follows his father through a portal into a deceptively beautiful Realm, where horses run free, the wind sings prophetic melodies, and their computer avatars come to life.

But separation from his father puts Ian in peril as he’s abducted by a tribe of dragon worshipers and forced to find his courage.

As he struggles for his freedom and embarks on a perilous search for his father, Ian meets the true peacekeepers of the Realm and learns of a greater purpose for his being
in there.

Deception Peak is on Amazon in paperback and Kindle, and Barnes and Nobles.http://amzn.com/0615679706
You can also purchase it through Hydra Publications

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Walking through the woods, painting dragons, and reading the old classics are a source of inspiration to me. I began the Ian's Realm Saga by painting a 9 ft dragon, and the story evolved from there.

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I'm crazy about C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, and C.S. Forester series (I love stories about tall ships). I also enjoy Mark Twain and books with a little bit of subtle humor in them.

5) What's your next writing project?

I'm currently working on four short stories that intertwine with the Ian's Realm Saga titled The Tale of the Four Wizards-Patriarchs of the Realm. After that, in February the second installment of the trilogy will be published. The Dragon Shield.

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 227 comments 1) What is your name and bio?

I'm Andrew Lawston, sometimes credited as Andrew K Lawston, and I live and work in London. I grew up in England's New Forest, before going to university in Birmingham and travelling to Bordeaux. I specialised in French and have a BA in French, MPhil in French Film and PGCE (that's a teaching qualification to you non-Brits) in Modern Foreign Languages. My work tends to combine 20th Century French intellectualism with a fairly easygoing English style. Wow, that looks like a big claim just reading that, but yeah. My biggest success to date was a Doctor Who story for a charity fanthology which wove elements from Jean-Luc Godard's Pierrot le Fou into a Colin Baker romp across the West Midlands. I write in the evenings, by day I'm a Publishing Manager. I also do a lot of acting in my spare time.

2) What is your book title, synopsis, and where can readers find it?

My book is called Something Nice - 10 Stories. It's a collection of ten of my best short stories written between 2000 and 2011, and features a bit of horror, a bit of science-fiction, lashings of fantasy (in its broadest sense, think magical realism and urban fantasy rather than dark lords and orcs), the odd dose of the supernatural and even the occasional stab at something a bit literary. The stories are sometimes scary, sometimes disgusting, sometimes funny, but never dull. You can get it from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com for just £0.77 (or the dollar equivalent thereof).

3) Where do you come up with your ideas?

Every writer's favourite question... I don't know. The gap between thinking of an idea and then starting to write after a good think is a long one for me. My most recent short story is 8,500 words long. I started writing it seriously in March 2012, but had the idea as far back as 2007. So I genuinely can't remember where I was or what I was doing at the time. I think I come up with a lot of my ideas while walking. Not particularly long walks, I know I had one flash of inspiration just strolling to work one day. I find my brain has to be in a very precise mode of studied inactivity in order to bear fruit, and that's a hard mental state to achieve!

4) What books/authors do you like to read?

I read very broadly, from 18th Century French literature to contemporary science-fiction and fantasy novels, and everything in between. I don't read Christian fiction or romance, as a rule. Anything else is fair game. A selection of favourite authors would include Terry Pratchett, Charles Dickens, Voltaire and Isaac Asimov.

5) What's your next writing project?

I have a number of projects on the go at any given time. My most exciting work in progress is a new translation of a Casanova book which has never before been published (widely, anyway) in English. I'm also knocking out stories which one day could become a second short story collection, and submitting them to various anthologies and publications in the meantime.
