Dori (adorible) | 196 comments This version of "Northern Lights/The Golden Compass" has a very funky cover that shows both titles. Reading the cover it makes it sound as though "Northern Lights" is the title and just the movie is "The Golden Compass" yet "The Golden Compass" is larger on the book cover than "Northern Lights". Of course, in the U.S., the book was always published under the name "The Golden Compass". I was just looking at it because I was going to add series information. So any opinions ast to what this particular edition's title should be?

This Is Not The Michael You're Looking For | 949 comments It would be nice to see the actual title page, rather than the cover. It might make it clearer what the "Title" actually is.

Dori (adorible) | 196 comments I see what you're saying...I don't know if I can find that online. I'll look though :)

Carolyn (seeford) | 573 comments Looking at other editions (like this one: Northern Lights) and the Fantastic Fiction website, it looks like the original title of book #1 was "Northern Lights", which was changed to "The Golden Compass" in subsequent editions.

In that case, I would leave the title as Northern Lights (His Dark Materials, #1).
