Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) | 1332 comments Don't know why it didn't work but I've listed them above - and as far as I know it can be a different book.

Kate (kathrynlouwca) | 1002 comments Wow, there were so many good challenges in the past, it will be hard just picking one!

Yep, it can be different! Or the same if you want. Your pick.

I'm pretty sure it is.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 306 comments Love this challenge! There were books I bought for the past 2 challenges and I never ended up using them so now I can at least use one that might not fit anywhere else!

message 12: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) i read The Lace Reader for Janice's task last time! :)

message 13: by Felina (new)

Felina | 0 comments For the Dystopian challenge...Is The Road Dystopian or just post-apocolyptical?

** I'm not going to try to figure out how to spell apocolyptical.**

message 14: by Megan (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments According to the Goodreads description, it's postapocalyptic. Having looked it up on other sites (the half-dozen times I've considered reading it before picking something a little snarkier), I'd say it's probably not dystopian.

If you're looking for good dystopian fiction, try Ayn Rand's Anthem, Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake or The Handmaid's Tale, Yevgeny Zamyatin's We (the original dystopian novel!), or Uglies. All excellent books.

message 15: by kiki (new)

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments are we only allowed to use the tasks listed above? from the fall challenge, there was a 15 point task about reading a book written in the last 10 years that was made into a movie in the last 5. so are we able to use tasks that are not listed above?

message 16: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jml_417) One of my favourite tasks was 30.5 from the Summer Challenge - In Celebration of Young Adult Librarians Everywhere…Read Three YA Books

Would the Artemis Fowl series work? I can't remember if anyone used these books - I used S.E. Hinton and would like to read something different.

Thanks.

The Road was not allowed for the Dystopian task since the task creator specified a government-controlled or government created dystopia such as Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, We, The Handmaid's Tale, 1984, The Dispossessed, V for Vendetta

Oh, that was one of my favorites too! I was wondering if we were allowed to do the multiple book task.

Ooh, I saw you rated 3 stars for this book. Guess it was just so-so? Hmm.. I got 2 books for this task, maybe I'll decide later which one to use.

message 21: by Petra (new)

Petra Can we choose any of our favorite tasks even if we didn't do them or if they were a task from a Challenge we didn't participate in? Or can we only choose tasks that we completed during the specific Challenge?

message 22: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Any word on if it has to be a task that we have previously completed? Cynthia, mabye you could step in and make a decision since Beth hasn't answered?

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3042 comments What task number was revisiting the past?

message 24: by kiki (new)

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments i'm still waiting to hear if it can be a past task OTHER than the ones listed above.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I would like to do 25.4 from the Fall Challenge. (movie/book within last 10 years challenge.) It was not listed above. Is that ok?

I wanted to read and watch The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.

message 26: by kiki (new)

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments that's the one i want to do, also, sara. (i mistakenly referred to it as a 15 point task in one of my previous posts.)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Natalia wrote: Cynthia I have a question about this task as well. I asked this on the task thread but no one has answered, is any former task fair game or does it have to be one that's I completed & claimed points for?

Thanks in advance! ;)

Cynthia wrote: Any task from a former challenge that was worth 15+ points counts - it doesn't have to be one that you had previously done (otherwise new participants wouldn't be able to do the task).

message 28: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I am planning on doing Ashley ID's task (dystopian lit)...a newer title that it getting a lot of good reviews is The Maze Runner if anyone is interested. That is the one I am planning on reading.

Great task, especially for someone who is participating in her second challenge. It was fun to go back and choose from old tasks. Thank you for posting them...I didn't want to do something from the last challenge!

message 29: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments I'm actually going to go back and do a task that I NEVER thought I'd do again:

15.1 (from Spring 2009): It’s Written In The Stars... Read A Book That Corresponds To Your Astrological Sign... (Books Can Be Fiction Or Non-Fiction)
* Scorpio: The Scorpion – Read A Book That Takes Place In The Desert, A Wasteland, Etc.

I'm going to read Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, which my real-life book group is reading this month. :)

message 30: by Andreea (new)

Andreea (andyyy) | 59 comments I'm a bit confused. For Darla's Task - Read A Book You've Seen In A Movie do you have to read a book that was mentioned in a movie or one that was made into a movie?

message 31: by Liz M (last edited Dec 18, 2009 04:14AM) (new)

Liz M Andreea wrote: "I'm a bit confused. For Darla's Task - Read A Book You've Seen In A Movie do you have to read a book that was mentioned in a movie or one that was made into a movie?"

A book that a movie character was seen reading. For example, in X-Men 2 Professor Xavier is teaching a class about The Once and Future King.
