Shona (anovelobsession) I don't think anybody has started this list already. I looked around and couldn't find anything, but I was curious...

Have you asked for books for Christmas and what's on your list to get?

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments I have a book with all the books I want and I also have an excel document that goes my author's last name that I carry in my wallet just in case ;-)

Suzanne (bellamy22) | 610 comments Oooh Shona...good choices!!!

message 7: by Darcia (new)

Darcia Helle (darciahelle) I ask for books for any reason I can think of -birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Groundhog Day...

I have over 100 books on my wish list, so I'm hoping my family goes nuts!

message 8: by Liz (new)

Liz I asked my cousin for Good Omens, my boyfriend for Neverwhere, and from my immediately family I asked for a leatherbound Complete Tales of Edgar Allan Poe and The Count of Monte Cristo.

message 9: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I don;t ask for any because i know that whoever knows me and thinks about me and a present, thinks about books!!:-)

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Lucky you! I always ask for books and no one ever gives me any! (Just as well, really... I have too many floating around as it is!)

message 11: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Hayes, the thing is that if someone wants to give me something, thinking about me makes them immediately think about books. It is very difficult for anyone that wants to give me a non book present!:-) It is the only material thing I love!

By the way, of the topic, but just finished my Lucarelli book!!!

Will def. have to read one!

I have indeed. In fact, I haven't really asked for much else!

· The House at Midnight by Lucie Whitehouse
· 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
· The Colonel’s Daughter by Rose Tremain
· The Girl Who Played With Fire (#2) by Steig Larsson
· The Priory by Dorothy Whipple
· Mariana by Monica Dickens
· The Luminous Life of Lilly Aphrodite by Beatrice Colin
· The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters
· Poppy Shakespeare by Clare Allen
· A Dark-Adapted Eye by Barbara Vine
· Marnie by Winston Graham
· The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham

I hate people buying me books that I haven't asked for, because I'm such a fussy reader.

message 18: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) I asked for Charles Dickens's Little Dorrit (to accompany the DVD for the 2008 miniseries that I asked for as well, hehehe) and Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca this year. Also asked for a copy of Jane Austen's Emma because I'm collecting all of her books in the Winchester edition and that's the only book I'm missing now =)

Mary (madamefifi) | 358 comments ^^I guarentee you that either I or my husband will get a copy of The Lost Symbol this year, despite neither one of us indicating that we want it or even have any interest in reading it (which we don't).

Oh well you can pass it on to someone who will enjoy it.
I have passed on many books ,then have received them as gifts. So out the door they go to other homes to make others happy.

message 21: by Julie (new)

Julie | 54 comments This year i really just asked for gift cards for B&N its alot easier that way, but i also asked for, and sneekily found out that im getting, The Complete Sherlock Holmes All 4 Novels & 56 Short Stories, The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales, and The Complete Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales, all leather bound collectors editions, and im exteremly excited =)

message 22: by Carol (new)

Carol So Julie you are a serious collector then. You have to show real surprise if you already know you will get these.

message 23: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (klonk) I've mentioned books by Astrid Lindgren, but that's about it. :)

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I got all my requested books - yay! Shame I have so little time to read them, what with revision and coursework etc.
