RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Now, I'm pretty sure Sally, Larry, Jim, and a few others are all experiencing snow this year. Right now huge flakes are falling outside my house and I'll probably drive into work early this morning to avoid the inevitable traffic accompanying the first snowfall.

What are your thoughts on snow? Do you like to play in the snow? How much snow is enough? How are you driving in the snow? Any good snow stories? Snow days?

(Buns, we understand after your stretch in snow-laden central NY if you do a little dance and give the finger with both hands to the land just east of Lake Erie.:)

Mary JL (maryjl) | 250 comments I hate snow. I walk with a cane and am afraid of falling. Also, I feel cold all winter, seems like.'

The only good thing about snow is it does make the trees look pretty and sparkling when it comes down.

Give me war mweather any time.

message 3: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) Go figure: the one year I'm excited for snow and we haven't gotten a flake of it yet. :(

In January 1999 we only had one day of school due to the snow. That was pretty sweet.

Likewise, last year there was so little rainfall that we actually noticed and cheered whenever there was a fresh snowfall on the mountains. I was excited to go through the streets of McLeod Ganj throwing snowballs at monks, but alas, no such luck.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My thoughts:

I WANT snow. I ♥ snow. I miss snow. Ice sucks. We get lots of ice.

Please post lots of pictures of snow for those of us who never get snow, namely me.

Félix (habitseven) We got about 3 inches last night. Here's the view from my office window of the park across the street:

My thoughts on snow:

Whopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I do have to drive to school in it in a while, which won't be fun. The worst is spinning out on corners , but they've been laying down deicer for days so it shouldn't be a problem. I consider finding enough quarters for five hours at the meter so I don't have to walk as far (and risk slipping) but I bet many have had the same idea and by eleven those lots will be full.

Are you being sarcastic? I hope you're not being sarcastic.

I'm not being sarcastic. I love love love the snow. I'm cautious about driving in it, but not too worried. The side streets will be a pain, but I'm sure the main roads are clear and plowed.

YAY!!! Then you share in my enthusiasm for snow. I LOOOOVE snow.

In fact, I love it so much, I ♥ snow.

Really. I do love it.

Marla also loves it. She's so enormous and has so much fur it must not bother her at all. She's out there investigating the giant piles Sweeter has been building as he shovels all weekend long.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My mom got Robby some snow boots for Christmas a few years ago. He gets SO embarrassed when I put them on him. He walks around like "SEE what you did to me, Mom?!! Now I look like a retard." It always makes me laugh so much I end up crying.

message 14: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Pictures, Heidi! We wanna see Robby's face when he's embarrassed.

flat Stanly loves the snow too.

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Hey Stan! Welcome to TC!

message 17: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments It may be a while. I'm between locations in moving, so I have NO idea where anything is. When I find them, I'll try to take pics, but he kind of hides behind me and lifts his paws like they have gum stuck to the bottom of them when I put the snow shoes on him. It really is very funny. He will NOT go outside if other dogs are around when I put the shoes on him. By that point, I'm typically on the floor from laughing so hard.

Sweeter is going to take a break from work to come home and drive me to campus so I don't have to worry about parking and walking! ♥♥♥

message 20: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Perfect solution. Protecting precious cargo.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

What a nice Sweeter.

I like snow too. I just don't like the 2 -3 inches every other day. Wednesday should be fun 8-12 forecast. Now that is worth shoveling.

message 23: by Lori (new)

Lori I wish it would snow here already! It's been freezing for about a week now, but for once there's no precipitation in Seattle. Basically, this city shuts down - seriously last year schools closed because of the threat of snow, I couldn't believe it, not a flake on the ground. I find it extremely amusing, coming from the NE and also U of Michigan.

We did have a major storm (for Seattle that is) last winter at Christmas time that was so much fun. Probably 6 - 8 inches in the city. No cars on the street at all, people were skiing down the hills, cross-country through the streets, was a great party! And dogs were prancing all over off leash so Raider had a great time.

But it's 29 outside, clear blue skies, feh. I want snow!

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Snow in Omaha today.

message 25: by Lori (new)

Lori It seems there is snow every where except here! I think even Texas got dumped on today.

message 26: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I just talked with someone in Tucson. He said they were expecting snow there, too.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm in Alaska and there is plenty of snow. I HATE SNOW. Thats probably because it's here most of the time. HI TO ALL!!!!!!!!

message 28: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Welcome to TC, Akskittles.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Living in Alaska would explain my name AkSkittles. The Skittles part come from my friends because thats my OFFICIAL NICKNAME. Weirdly it doesn't fit my real name at all. My real name is Crystal!!!!!!!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmmmmm ... Wasilla. Why does that seem familiar? Hmmmmmm ....

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

My time it's 10:30. I'm 11 years old. in 5 grade. But i have a 9 grade reading level and a 10 grade math level. I hear i'm very mature for my age a lot. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's not!

message 34: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well, the 5th grade level would have worked for many of the posts on here haha. The 10th grade math level will scare quite a few of us, too.

Just kidding, of course.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I never told anyone i lived in wasilla. How did you know????????

message 36: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm psycho psychic. (It's on your profile.)

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

ohhhhhh
yeah. I forgot.
it mght sound familiar because Sarah Palin was the govener and was the vice to John Maccain

message 38: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) No, I don't think that's it.

Now what was it? Hmmmmmmmmmm ....

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

IDK! Wasilla isn't very well known. Maybe your thinking of Sitka, Juneau, Anchorage, or maybe Barrow??

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

IDK why it would ever sound familiar if it's none of the above????

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I gotta go. BYE!!!

PEACE,
AkSkittles!!!!

message 42: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Y'all come back now, y'hear?

If you look at a national weather map there is a giant arctic cold front just sitting on North America.

message 49: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments I hate snow, especially slush. I grew up in Pennsylvania and know snow very well but I'm very happy in San Diego. It is raining today, though. I love the rain.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm in Minnesota and we're in for a big snowstorm tomorrow. Parts of MN are under a blizzard warning. When I think of blizzards, I always think of them as things that only happen in the past, not something that happens today...but apparently it's going to. I love the first big snow. I love snow until after Christmas, and then I wish the snow would melt away.
