message 1: by Matthew (new)

Matthew I know I'm knew and all, but I'd like to do a group meet up over winter break if anyone is interested. My city is New York, so by force of geography would like to do it there. Any thoughts?

message 2: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I think this is violently unfair because I live in Oklahoma and no one lives in or near Oklahoma, so I can't meet anyone. But I am coming to New York in May on my way home from Athens.

message 3: by Matthew (new)

Matthew we could do another one then, and once your thesis passes, you could move. ;)

message 4: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker You know, my third lifelong ambition is to be a bleacher creature for a season. And I think my professional ambition would be to become the official historian of the Yankees. And yes, we will have a meet in May.

message 6: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Jamie...I mean this with a lot of love and all, but...traitor!

message 7: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Excellent Jamie, I can introduce you to Strand

Well, Lori, you do know that if you want to come you are more than welcome to stay at my house!

message 9: by Katerina (new)

Katerina | 252 comments It would be fun but my family/friends would think I'm insane meeting people that I've never met. lol

message 10: by Candace (new)

Candace Petersen Martineau I'll host one if we can get enough people in UT.

message 11: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Candace wrote: "I'll host one if we can get enough people in UT."

I'll second that!

Haha I want to go to all of them! There are so many of you that I want to meet!

message 13: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker We should host one in Oklahoma because it's centrally located geographically.

Matthew wrote: "Excellent Jamie, I can introduce you to Strand"

Fabulous! That will be one of the highlights of the trip I'm sure. Along with meeting my dear Lori..because she IS coming!

message 15: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Lori IS coming to what?

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd love to but I can't afford to....unless ye all want to come to Ireland!

message 17: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Roisu wrote: "I'd love to but I can't afford to....unless ye all want to come to Ireland!"

I do, but alas, money...

Roisu wrote: "I'd love to but I can't afford to....unless ye all want to come to Ireland!"

That would be nice! However, I'm in the same boat, broke as can be!

message 20: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Well, yeah, in May. I wish I could come up at the end of December, early January, but I don't think I can get good airfare.

message 21: by Bárbara (new)

Bárbara (leviathan_) Roisu wrote: "I'd love to but I can't afford to....unless ye all want to come to Ireland!"

Haha I hear ya. Lisbon's quite a pretty city, y'know. Meet-up appropriate.

Sarah Elizabeth Roisu wrote: "I'd love to but I can't afford to....unless ye all want to come to Ireland!"

I will be in Ireland in the fall..... lol :D

message 23: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I still vote for Utah. lol. We can all go to the used/rare bookstore Sam Wellers in Salt Lake. You all would love it!

message 24: by Adriana (last edited Dec 12, 2009 09:37PM) (new)

Adriana | 188 comments I wish I could visit all of these places so I can meet you all. Unfortunately, I don't have any money.

message 25: by Liz (new)

Liz Haha this would be fun. We should just be fair and pick the most central place, except that might be in the middle of the ocean.

message 26: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen I was thinking about doing something like this. However I think it should be in Boston. Only because I'd have a hard time getting into NYC. And would we be staying at hotels or something?

message 27: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) No, no. Come to California. I'm all traveled out and can't even get it together to go home for Christmas (partly because I had no idea it was next week already).

message 28: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 188 comments Yeah, you guys should come to California.

message 29: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Haha I'm down for California!

message 30: by Tahleen (last edited Dec 20, 2009 07:13PM) (new)

Tahleen If only plane tickets didn't cost so much... Maybe we should find a neutral place where plane tickets will be very cheap. lol

message 31: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Tickets to Oklahoma would be cheap because, I mean, really, who wants to go there?

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 125 comments Hey, I'm in Utah too! So far... Utah's winning in member numbers? :P

message 33: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Haha. I'd TOTALLY go to Utah, it would give me an excuse to go there. Utah's got my vote. As long as I can get some time off/afford the plane ticket.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm so jealous! It'd be great to meet ye all!

message 35: by Spencer (new)

Spencer (spencerafreeman) Wait wait, I've been away for so long... and almost missed people meeting up!

I LIVE in NEW YORK!! :) I could do this! I've never been to Strand before, either... Can I still join in on the reindeer games?? :)

message 36: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Yes of course!!

message 37: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen So wait! Is NY definitely our site? I'm okay with that if someone is willing to pick me up from the train station lol. Either that or maybe someone in Mass will want to travel with me...?

message 38: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I'd be up for this depending on when it happens. I plan on being on the east coast until April or May, so if I'm still around then I'd travel down there with you Tahleen.

message 39: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Sweet. Where on the east coast will you be?

message 40: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I'm here in MA as well.

message 41: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Excellent!

message 42: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I am planning a cruise in April. I say we do the group meet on it!

message 43: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Oh if I could only afford another cruise. That would be so much fun!

message 44: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I don't know...I'm not sure a cruise ship could contain Jamie and me.

message 45: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
You would be surprised! I am shocked my first one contained Heather. Besides, it stops sometimes then you can go crazy on land. :)

message 46: by David (new)

David (canadiandave) I'd be game for meeting a bunch of Utahns and others at Sam Wellers sometime. We may have to wait until I finish reading the 50 books I own that I said I'd read before I bought any books this year. Two (almost five) down. I'm sure I couldn't survive the temptation.

message 47: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I'll second what David said. That would be a lot of fun.

message 48: by Ashley (last edited Mar 02, 2010 02:26PM) (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I can do a poll asking what state everyone is in. The state where most of the members are, that will be the meeting place of the club meet up. Details can be figured out later. Sound like a plan?

message 49: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Sounds like the beginning of one, though I think there might be negotiations afterward.

message 50: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments I am a Kentucky dweller that works, goes to school, has a house and a dog. I couldn't go!!! :( I need a pity party. Haha.
