What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Ok, to summarize the clues so far:

-100% sure that the cover definitely is as described, black and white drawing of a headless women (holding head on lap) with a stream of butterflies flying out of her body through the neck

-99.9999% sure the book is in the literary fiction genre, if not that it's a memoir

-99.9999% sure author is female

-85% sure that the author has a Central/South American sounding name and/or that the book has something to do with these regions of the world

-100% sure it's at least 9 or 10 years old

Could it be In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez - there is a girl on the soft cover book with a butterfly under her eye and some coming out of her mouth. It's about the reign of Trujillo in the Dominican Republic and how the lives of three sisters were impacted by him. I think it's fiction, but based on the lives of the real sisters. I can't remember much else.

Nope. I own that book, too. I kept thinking of that title though for the obvious reasons (butterflies) as did another person trying to help me out.

Ok, I found and scanned the cover I'd cut the vital information (title, author) away from. So at least I can still show and tell:

Headless Doll by Jane Wallace was the best I could come up with...

So you figured it out? Or you already had it? I'm confused. If it's just a test, why were you only 85% sure about something?

I still haven't figured out what book it is, but I found the cover image that I'd cut out, which was my main goal.
