Is everyone doing okay? I know it's the busy time of the year. I hope all is well. Things could be better, but they could be worse. It's a chilly day here in Texas.

I'm doing fine. I hope it doesn't rain all day.

The temp is dropping.

I recently got a new animation job which has been taking up a bit of my time but I'm still around. I try to pop my head out so I don't completely disappear in between projects. :-)

It's gotten chilly here in the desert. I've started lighting candles and making hot cocoa so it's been pretty nice. Hopefully I can get some more reading and writing done.

It's bundle up weather here in TX. I like it, although I do get chilly in the morning b/c I'm outside for some time. I have to get my hot chocolate to warm up. I am so glad I got some long undies. I'd be in trouble if I didn't.

I had to go get a tetanus shot a couple hours ago because someone dropped a meat hook at work and I stepped on it. I'm fine. Just a small puncture wound that I've taken care of. My arm is feeling like I got socked by a wrestler from the tetanus shot, but I'll live.

I'm excited to see my house and my family again after two months next week. Yay.

Eugenia, I hope the move goes well, and you have fun with your SO's family.

I'm good. Finally getting over the a nasty cold. Back at work catching up. I've also been working on a self imposed deadline I set for myself to complete a WIP. I'm please to say I'll reach/exceed my goal of 50k by the time the clock strikes midnight 1/01/2010. But I'll still have 30k more words to add before it done and I can start looking into submitting.

I'm all done with my xmas shopping. Just need to get the items for xmas dinner.

Actually work has been a little wild for me lately. Well, its always wild but these days things are even more hectic as we try to reach our end of year targets.

Kids are coming home this weekend so my husband and I can expect to have our peace and quiet shattered. I usually like Christmas, but can't help feeling a bit melancholic this year. Won't be the same without Dad! But at least everyone else is healthy and happy.

And today I turn 44. My kids called me bright and early. They both remembered, which I thought was really nice, and my husband had flowers delivered to my office (and what do you know, I didnt even have to remind him). All in all, life's good.

I'm sending you a big hug, Davina. The first holidays are really tough after you lose a loved one. And sometimes it crops up out of nowhere. I was thinking of my dad the other day and I got really sad. I hope that you are about to have a good holiday, all the same. I hope that happy past memories will fill your heart and blunt the pain. I'm glad to hear your sons are home. I'm looking forward to going home for the first time in over two months, and spending Christmas with my mother, my sister, my aunt, my two cats, and my sister's cat, and to sleep in my own bed!

Thank you, Brenda and Danielle. I don't know about you guys, but everytime I hit a birthday its hard for me to see myself as the age I am. It feels like just yesterday I was a still a fresh-faced 20 year old kid. Where in heaven does the time go? lol

Thank you for the kind words, Danielle. Some days are better than others. Work keeps me occupied and reading helps, but as you said there are times out of the blue when the thought strikes you that you'll never see this person again. Even at my age I was always so in awe of my dad. He always seemed so larger than life to me, like nothing could ever fall him. His passing certainly makes one more aware of one's own mortality. Anyway, this christmas will be a toast to his life and all the people who's life he touched. And I'd like to think he'd be with us in spirit.

As my children always tell me, it's nice to go home to Mom! You get great home cooked meals, you get your laundry done, and you get great advice on your love life! :) I hope you'll have a wonderful time with your family.

No one every really dies, we live on in memories and the faces of our children and their children. I miss my father too. He passed away 18 years ago this month. My thoughts are with you.

Well, yeah I am, Arch ... and I feel wonderful too, and I don't look all that shabby, but there's still that irrational fear that one is drawing closer and closer to the expiration date. lol

You know, my dad is actually my step dad (he and my mom were never blessed with their own children), but I can actually see him in my sis and my brother, and even in my boys, when I look at them. That may be due to the years he spent raising us, but its not only in mannerism, but also in looks. Perhaps the eyes see what they want to see, but it's uncanny nevertheless.

I've never actually watched All About Eve, but I know the quote, and I have used it frequently. I can definitely say that's been the case for the last ten or so years of my life, not that I'm complaining.

Looks like I missed the b-day festivities. Happy belated one to you, Davina.

Work has been busy. This will be my first Christmas without my kids, so I am adjusting to it. We have been doing stuff the past weekends like tree trimming dinner and church activities. Going to be a long Christmas weekend, but I booked it up with visiting friends and such. Starting to look forward to the peace and quite of it though.

When I get down about what I haven't accomplished or could do better, it helps to remember that my father was/is proud of me. I like to think he's looking down on me and my sister now.

Thanks Sweet T! I wish you much joy and happy memories this holiday season. Things are already a little sombre in my house/family. Dad passed on only a few months ago so its still very fresh in all our minds. There are times I have the strongest urge to pick up the phone and give him a bell. Then I have to remind myself that no, he's not there. It's wicked.
