My side yard had a lot of water, yesterday. I had to walk in it to get my trashcan, to bring to the road.

I hope it's better, when I get home today.

I recently got a new animation job which has been taking up a bit of my time but I'm still around. I try to pop my head out so I don't completely disappear in between projects. :-)
It's gotten chilly here in the desert. I've started lighting candles and making hot cocoa so it's been pretty nice. Hopefully I can get some more reading and writing done.
Hope you all are hanging in there.

It's bundle up weather here in TX. I like it, although I do get chilly in the morning b/c I'm outside for some time. I have to get my hot chocolate to warm up. I am so glad I got some long undies. I'd be in trouble if I didn't.
I had to go get a tetanus shot a couple hours ago because someone dropped a meat hook at work and I stepped on it. I'm fine. Just a small puncture wound that I've taken care of. My arm is feeling like I got socked by a wrestler from the tetanus shot, but I'll live.
I'm excited to see my house and my family again after two months next week. Yay.
Eugenia, I hope the move goes well, and you have fun with your SO's family.
Congrats on the new job, Rae. I am so in awe of your talents. I hope you're enjoying your job. Stay warm.
Arch, you stay warm and dry. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Yikes! Good to hear you're okay, Danielle. Hope you stay warm and safe over there with lots of hot cocoa. :-)

Thanks, Eugenia. I hope your flu shot doesn't hit you too hard. My arm is a bit sore, but not bad.

I'm all done with my xmas shopping. Just need to get the items for xmas dinner.
Thanks for asking

Kids are coming home this weekend so my husband and I can expect to have our peace and quiet shattered. I usually like Christmas, but can't help feeling a bit melancholic this year. Won't be the same without Dad! But at least everyone else is healthy and happy.
And today I turn 44. My kids called me bright and early. They both remembered, which I thought was really nice, and my husband had flowers delivered to my office (and what do you know, I didnt even have to remind him). All in all, life's good.
I'm sending you a big hug, Davina. The first holidays are really tough after you lose a loved one. And sometimes it crops up out of nowhere. I was thinking of my dad the other day and I got really sad. I hope that you are about to have a good holiday, all the same. I hope that happy past memories will fill your heart and blunt the pain. I'm glad to hear your sons are home. I'm looking forward to going home for the first time in over two months, and spending Christmas with my mother, my sister, my aunt, my two cats, and my sister's cat, and to sleep in my own bed!

Thank you for the kind words, Danielle. Some days are better than others. Work keeps me occupied and reading helps, but as you said there are times out of the blue when the thought strikes you that you'll never see this person again. Even at my age I was always so in awe of my dad. He always seemed so larger than life to me, like nothing could ever fall him. His passing certainly makes one more aware of one's own mortality. Anyway, this christmas will be a toast to his life and all the people who's life he touched. And I'd like to think he'd be with us in spirit.
As my children always tell me, it's nice to go home to Mom! You get great home cooked meals, you get your laundry done, and you get great advice on your love life! :) I hope you'll have a wonderful time with your family.

You're welcome.
No one every really dies, we live on in memories and the faces of our children and their children. I miss my father too. He passed away 18 years ago this month. My thoughts are with you.
Thanks, Davina. I am counting my blessings, in all ways. You're very right, Brenda. I know my dad is a part of me and will always be with me. I look in the mirror and see him, and I see him in my sister's face.
Davina, I am starting the countdown to 40. It's kind of scary in a way.
You're right, Eugenia. I was getting lonely. I would check for posts, and there would be no one...I heard the echoing into the nothingness. LOL.

LOL, no it's not!

You know, my dad is actually my step dad (he and my mom were never blessed with their own children), but I can actually see him in my sis and my brother, and even in my boys, when I look at them. That may be due to the years he spent raising us, but its not only in mannerism, but also in looks. Perhaps the eyes see what they want to see, but it's uncanny nevertheless.

Danielle in exactly 10 months and 13 days I will be the big five-O. I can tell you discovered and rediscovered so many wonderful things about myself in last decade. Enjoy the ride!!

Davina, my son, Eric, who's b-day is today, is so much like my father in looks and mannerism its scary sometimes.

Danielle, one more thing. If you're a fan of old movies then you might be familiar with this line from All About Eve.
"Hold on to your seats, because it going to be a bumpy ride."
Just thought I tossed that out there...food for thought.
I've never actually watched All About Eve, but I know the quote, and I have used it frequently. I can definitely say that's been the case for the last ten or so years of my life, not that I'm complaining.

Thanks, Loni! :)
Jenn, I hope you have a good Christmas, despite your kids not being with you. It sounds like you will have some good times with your friends to make up for it.
Merry Christmas to you Sweet T. I hope that you have a good time and don't get too sad. Hugs!
When I get down about what I haven't accomplished or could do better, it helps to remember that my father was/is proud of me. I like to think he's looking down on me and my sister now.

I can relate. I can't believe my dad's been gone a year a couple months now. I'm at my parents' home in Alabama for the holidays, and I see him in everything here. It ..."
Hugs to you Sweet T..he is watching down on you
I want to wish those who celebrate December 25, a very Merry Christmas. If you don't celebrate, have a nice day off from work, and be safe.
The weather is pretty yucky in a lot of places, so take your time and be extra careful traveling. Have fun!
I'll probably be on this weekend, on and off. If you're here, I'll see you!
