RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Apparently crime is down across the board (with a couple exceptions, of course) nationally...does this surprise anyone? I was surprised, honestly...I thought crime would go up with the economy down.

Theories? What do you think?

Meanwhile, there were 10 bank robberies in one week in Denver.

Yes, that is surprising.

One thing that may be reducing crime is a concerted effort from police departments everywhere. For example, the new police commissioner here in Charlotte has been employing more of a community reach out program in working with local citizens in reporting crime, and expanding community crime watch programs. Those programs do help in deterring crime.

That's one theory, I suppose.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments how 'bout with more people watching CSI style shows on TV they are beginning to realize that they can and prob will get caught more often

OR

people have mayonnaise jars on shelves marked "ski mask", "pistol" and "get-away car repairs" saving money to get their capital together for forthcoming crime sprees
