I wonder if the authors took into account size of dog? A meat eating mastiff would have a way larger footprint than my meat-eating spaniel.
And wouldn't long haired breeds that need to go for regular grooming have a bigger carbon footprint than short hairs?
Wouldn't a working dog - say a police dog who is driven to crime scenes - have a bigger carbon footprint than my dog who walks everywhere?

I don't know. I'm sure the authors of this article are leaving a carbon footprint, too. I'd rather they go before my dogs.
:)
After reading 42 freshman compositions about carbon footprinting last Spring, I'm completely burnt out on anything carbon footprint related.
It's all made of carbon. We use it to live the lives we live. The end.

People should write more intelligent articles, stuff that can actually be done without throwing daily routines too far off course.
