I really don't know how you hung in there so long, Mary. I don't like love triangles and that series is up to 19 books with it unresolved. I bailed after the first book.

Sara, I've also done my fair share of pretend-its-the-end-of-the-series too!!!

The whole idea of the love triangle pisses me off. Love triangles are for teenagers. But with two grown men? What kind of insecure men would those guys have to be to allow themselves to be strung along by such an indecisive woman? And it's not like they don't know about each other... I mean, MAYBE if each book took place in a single day, I could see her not choosing for 19 days, but I'm assuming each one covers at least a week or so. That's at least 5 months! That's just ridiculous. No grown man worth having is gonna put up with that crap! I'm kind of offended for men everywhere.
I just finished putting the final touches on an editorial I wrote on this topic. It will appear on my blog on Monday. Would love for you to drop by and share this point of view!

Oh, Mary! Nine books? This is a series where you should know by the end of the second book whether you're going to like it or not. STOP!!
I agree with Sara, time is too precious and reading should bring pleasure. Go, read something you will enjoy.

Whew! I thought you were talking about Eve and Roarke:) Yeah, I read one book and it wasn't my kind of series. Lots of people like the series because it's funny and quirky. I like mysteries to be grittier and edgier so it didn't appeal to me. Plus, can't stand a love triangle.

I COMPLETELY agree with you!! (And I totally thought you were talking about In Death! I was like, "Book 9 (Loyalty) was AMAZING!!! I can't believe she didn't like it!)

Don't feel bad I stopped at ten and I know I read maybe the 12th or 13th one. The thing is besides the stupid triangle the characters are all stupid. It is so unrealistic. I cannot relate to any of the characters.
I love the indeath characters. They are realistic and lovable. Even Mick in Betrayal. I got really mad at him, but in the end I really loved him.

Anyone recall?

And don't forget Dopey, Kevin's cat. I think it spoke volumes when he was willing to walk away from his mom, but Dopey had to come too.

The other 'boy character' I liked (and of course can't remember his name at the moment) was the boy that sold Eve mufflers for Christmas presents as he was selling out of a suitcase on the street and took her to meet his grandmother who was raising him.

Right, Tiko.
I always enjoy when characters from previous books appear, even briefly, in later books. Makes it feel more like the characters in the books are living realistic lives and the reader is more involved with the series.
I think its great how much I've learned about the criminal mind, the law process and the other eclectic things that pop up. Like today, with this *$%#@ who has sent letters with ricin in the mail. I know what that is thanks to a nasty little girl who slipped some in a hot chocolate.

That's right! I get so caught up in the Magdelana storyline I sometimes forget about the little bad seed.
I didn't know that Dawn. If its not too personal, do you think the bullpen is accurately represented?
Jonetta, I forget about Maggie! Is she Eve says "You were one of many." And then taps her wedding band and says something like "I'm the only"?
