That's a favorite scene of mine...Roarke is nearly choked with emotions. Just a beautiful scene.

The day may come that I tire of rereading these books/scenes...but I seriously doubt it. It sure hasn't happened yet!

message 252: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I think it is even more special because Eve finally understands how her reluctance to admit her feelings affect Roarke.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
Exactly Dawn. It was like a light bulb went off in Eve's head and then she told him again.

message 254: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 79 comments Hi All, I was rereading my favorite scenes from ID books and there's this scene in Innocent in Death where Eve punches Roarke and Magdelana when she finds them in their home on valentine's day. Eve and Roarke are about to make mad passionate love after the fight and eve thinks
" She wanted to devour him, one greedy bite at a time, and let her nails dig a little into his back once she’d torn the tattered shirt away. She’d seen more than annoyance on his face when Magdelana had clung to him   Eve had seen what she might have missed if she and Roarke had been stupid enough, crazy enough, blind enough to pass each other by."

I am not sure what she means by the last sentence and why did she punch Roarke?

message 255: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
I've always believed she punched him for giving this witch yet another opportunity to play him against Eve...for being man-stupid.

As for that last sentence, I thought she saw his love for her (Eve) as the foundation for that annoyance, not that he was just bugged by Magdelena but that he was in love with another woman...Eve.

message 256: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 79 comments Thanks Jonetta! Now I get what Eve means by the look on Roarke's face.

As for the punching part I thought she punched him for being stupid to give Magdelana another chance but just wanted to confirm. Can't imagine Roarke being the stupid one you see ; )

message 257: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments Alright Sandra, *taps foot in agitation*. You had promised me that their relationship didn't have a lot of angst after the first few books. Now I know I shouldn't be looking ahead at these kind of spoilers, but that's like - book 24. What's he doing in someone elses arms in book 24?

Watcha got to say for yourself, huh? LOL

message 258: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Shame on you, Penni!!! Don't peek:)

Seriously, Sandra didn't lie to you and you have to forget you saw this. It's all out of context and you don't want to miss the full experience of that book.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
Awww Penni...You know how many times I've said, Read In Order!! See how much trouble those horns get you into?!! LOL

Girlfriend - I didn't say they never have any angst...I said read at least the first 3 books to get a good foundation for where their relationship is going. Then, if you need a break to read something else, you can flip back and forth to the series. Roarke & Eve are as perfect as they come, I think, but you know all relationships have a bit of angst! Read in order!!

message 260: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments LOL - now I've gone from having to read one more to having to read 22 more before I'm capable of slowing down a bit.

Serves me right I guess :-)

message 261: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
LOL Penni...it's called being "hooked" on the series. You have so much Roarke & Eve to discover and enjoy yet! I always envy those reading it for the first time!

I just tell people to try the first 3 or so before worrying about whether they can read them all as some are so overwhelmed by the sheer number of books in the series. But with each book standing alone and having it's own hea, this series is very doable a few books at a time. I took breaks when reading it the first time.

message 262: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments Oh how I would love to discover this series for the first time again. There's nothing like it! Re-reads are great too but getting that first time reaction to everything is incomparable. Kind of wish I was here when I first started reading the series for the discussions!

As for that scene, it'll go down as my top 10 favorite moments of Eve&Roarke. Though choosing only 10 would be impossible, but this one deserves that spot.

message 263: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Omg. I so remember figuring out I had over 30 books to read/listen to in this series...all because a friend loaned me one book. Lol. Trust me Penni, you will not stop at Innocent...

message 264: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
LOL...I think Penni is realizing that now!

message 265: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments Lol. It's why I took so long to start it. It scared me to death. But Sandra is nothing but persistent. I knew I'd have to get thru at least 3 quickly but then hoped I could pace myself a bit after that. Now, with that scene in my head I probably won't be able to slow down until I've read that one - so 22 here I come.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
It happened to us all, Pen! And most of the books have at least one or more great moments like the above in them. Some are funny, some are sexy, some are heartbreaking but all are great!

message 267: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 1576 comments I love Innocence in Death!!! It is my favorite book in the series, I cry every time I read it!! I also laugh every time I read that scene , I can just picture the surprised look on our Roarke 's face when Eve punches him.... PRICELESS :)

message 268: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments AAARRRGGHHH. Do you know how long its going to take me to read 20 more books!!!! LOL

Oh well. I'm sure the ride will be nice :-)

message 269: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) LOL! Penni - took me very little time to read the books. Once I start I cannot put it down!

message 270: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
Come on, Penni! You know you want too!!

message 271: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments Wanting is not the issue Sandra, as you know. It's the wanting too much with too little time that's the issue :-)

message 272: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I really want an update when Penni gets through those next 20 books...I am betting she goes on....you would be surprised how fast it goes

message 273: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Ah..,well, then if that is the issue, I went through most of the series (the first time) on audio because I could listen while I drove, cleaned, worked...,and I think the first eight or so are on sale.

message 274: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
I know Penni...I have sooooo many series I want to read and just can't find time for all of them. But Roarke is worth it!

message 275: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments I'm doing them on audio also. Unforunately, I'm hooked on four series right now. The three i can get on audio are In Death, Downside Ghosts, and Charley Davidson. I am cycling between those series hot and heavy right now lol. And I've got some challenge books to read/listen to also.

The In Death narration is really good and being able to do it on audio is a huge help. I'll get there, but 20 will take me awhile - I've been doing one In Death per month. I'm sure that will accelerate here now.

message 276: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Penni - I've gotten so I can't do them in print anymore. I just love Susan Ericksen's narration so much!

message 277: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Lol. Okay well I will be watching for your progress. I think I did the whole series, which was up to New York to Dallas at the time, in about 8 months. But I was only listening to this series.

message 278: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments ...and she particularly nailed Concealed.

This narrator hooked me on audios...she does a really good job.

message 280: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments Don't worry. You'll be hearing from me lol. I'm a very emotional reader, aren't I Sandra. You'll be hearing all kinds of "Why did that happen?!?!?!", and "Oh no", and "I can't BELIEVE he/she/they/it did that". Etc. I just can't help it. :-)

:) Awesome!

message 282: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 79 comments Sorry Penni...looks like I rushed things for you a bit ; ) But this series is worth it. Eve and Roarke are the best ever ♡♡♡ Happy reading : )

Yes...passionate reader - rest assured you will know when Penni is reading one of them! I trying to think ahead to remember what will happen in the next one she's reading now to plan for her rants! lol

message 284: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 1576 comments Oh Penni, I'm a Downside Ghost fan too!! I want a Terrible in my life :)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Me, three. I'm dying for the release of the next book...whenever that may be.

message 286: by Penni (new)

Penni | 816 comments I love that series. Its very tough at times to read, but it so, so, so good. Love Terrible. Just really getting to see more of him - I'm only through the 3rd. Can't wait to continue on and also read the novellas.

The Charley Davidson books I like a lot also - because of the snark and humor. I laugh out loud so much with those books. It's nice to switch back and forth. But Charley's books are getting a little more undercurrent of dark. She really uses her humor to handle everything she has to deal with. As Chess uses her drugs.

They are both very strong women underneath it all and I love strong heroines - no matter the flaws.

message 287: by Haniza (new)

Haniza | 4 comments Okay I really need help. I've been cracking my brain to figure out which book this is from. I don't want to re-read the whole series just to find this scene. I have already re-read it a lot of times. Hahaha.

It was a scene where Roarke and Eve was arguing really loudly in their room. And Summerset came in and said something like, "Children..."

Can someone please help me ? (: thanks!!

message 288: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments it was from treachery in death

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments Yep, just read that one again. I think it's my favorite...

message 291: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments Which is the book that had some of Roarke's security somehow being drugged or hypnotized so a crime could be committed. Because Roarke knows one of the security personally he is positive she couldn't have helped in the commission of the crime?

message 292: by Azleen (new)

Azleen that would be Divided in Death ;)

message 293: by Jonetta (last edited Apr 27, 2014 04:19AM) (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
No, I believe she's referring to Ritual in Death, where Roarke's head of security at the Roarke Palace Hotel, Mika Nakamura, had been drugged and become complicit in the ritual that took place there.

Mika's doctor worked at the West Side Clinic, which was how Eve and Roarke suspected she was drugged or hypnotized.

message 294: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments It could be both lol. But I think it happened in Interlude as well right?

message 295: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
No, the drugging of someone from Roarke's security as Dee describes only happened in Ritual. In Divided, it was just Reva but she wasn't Security. I don't recall anyone from Interlude being drugged.

message 296: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh, yea she did it without being drugged, but then was killed by drugs

message 297: by Azleen (new)

Azleen Oh ya, forgot about Rituals..this was a novella right? Vaguely recall reading it, sorta on the dark side, with satanic worshipping..

message 298: by Jonetta (last edited Apr 27, 2014 05:24PM) (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Yep, it was a novella. It's one of the few I liked and remember in detail.
