Everything's good, thanks guys. I'm just so ridiculously busy and feeling "pressured" to finish a challenge is just so unnecessary in my life right now! I like the yearly challenges cos you can just fill as you go - I will keep up with the pick-it-for-me challenge (cos it makes me read new authors) and the featured author. But for now, I'm just gonna read what I want. =)

I completely understand. I'm kinda in the same place. I may or may not finish all challenges. I decided to join some but not as many challenges this year and not going to pressure myself to finish them. I want to find time to read what I want.

Wise decision, guys. Think of the challenges as a buffet. You don't have to partake of everything. Pick-and-choose the ones you feel you will enjoy. Even I apply the same principle, and skip challenges I know I can't complete. : )

I hope there is always something for everyone: easy, moderate to tough ones, that can accomodate, a person's time and interests.

You guys do an awesome job with making up all the challenges. I will miss the challenges, but I really just started them to give me ideas of what to read next. Maybe I can start a 'mini-monthly' challenge. LOL! I thought maybe I could do the even numbers from your monthly on even months (Feb, Apr, June, Aug etc.) and odd numbers on odd months. That way the challenge would be reduced to 5 a month! We will see.

Anyway I do thank the moderators heaps for all their hard work. =)

message 94: by Laura Lulu (last edited Jan 21, 2010 04:53AM) (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I have so many books on my TBR list that I would never be able to decide what to read next--that's where the challenges come in--I love them. Besides the fact that I'm an anal dork who loves doing the research and making the lists, it helps me plan out my monthly reading. And since I get most of my books from the library, the challenges are great for my library requesting, I just throw all that month's reads on my library waiting list and read as they come in.

Did I mention I love the challenges? :) Thanks so much guys!

I'm so with you on this! The reason I can't resist a challenge is because I love going through my TBRs and building the lists. Then I pull only those titles onto my Kindle, so when it's time to pick my next book I won't be tempted by something else that pulls me off track (I suffer from "oooo look... new, shiny!" syndrome). I rarely finish all the challenges, but that's usually because all together they make my monthly TBR list too plump with 20-30 books LOL! Even if I read a book every two days, I can only manage a max of 15 a month. In the beginning I used to stress out from the pressure I put on myself, but I've since relaxed about the whole "omg.. gotta finish *pant*pant*" thing because it was sucking the joy out of my reading LOL! Once I accepted that I was only competing with myself, I loosened up quite a bit. Now the challenges are (to me) just a means of sorting/picking/choosing among the TBRs that I own to keep me from buying so many books. Although that does backfire often, because I also discover new authors and new series that I just must have! I already own more books than I can read in this lifetime, but I just can't resist buying more. My Kindle makes it way too easy with that darn diabolical "one-click" button. :P

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Mary,

I'm with you on the fun of picking titles for my challenge. My reading time for this year will be limited, so even though I completely fill in all the categories, I've resigned myself to actually reading either only 3-4 books on the list... : )
