Liz Carlyle's Regency novels are very difficult to group together and are really an unofficial series (as per her own comments on her website). They do however definitely tie together very closely at least up to the point that I have read them, and I discovered (by reading one out of order) that reading later books can lead to getting spoilers for earlier books (a major no-no for me;)). Liz says that if you must read them in order (like me), this is how they go:
1. My False Heart
2. A Woman Scorned
3. Beauty Like the Night
4. A Woman of Virtue
5. "Hunting Season" from Tea for Two anthology
6. No True Gentleman
7. The Devil You Know
8. A Deal With the Devil
9. The Devil to Pay
10. One Little Sin
11. Two Little Lies
12. Three Little Secrets
13. "After Midnight" from The School for Heiresses anthology
14. Never Lie to a Lady
15. Never Deceive a Duke
16. Never Romance a Rake
17. Tempted All Night
18. Wicked All Day
19. One Touch of Scandal
Books 1-3 are definitely stand alone, can be read in any order and have no overlapping characters, but after that all bets are off. Various characters from those three novels and futures ones, to the best of my knowledge, are interwoven throughout the remaining books.

I've also seen them separated by family groups like this, including on Liz Carlyle's website:
The Rutledge Family-
1. Beauty Like the Night
2. No True Gentleman
3. The Devil You Know

The Lorimer Family-
1. A Woman of Virtue
2. A Deal with the Devil

The MacLachlan Family & Friends-
1. The Devil to Pay
2. One Little Sin
3. Two Little Lies
4. Three Little Secrets

The Neville Family-
1. "After Midnight" from The School for Heiresses anthology
2. Never Lie to a Lady
3. Never Deceive a Duke
4. Never Romance a Rake

If you choose to read them this way though, don't say I didn't warn you about the spoilers.;) I know this is a crazy list, but I hope it saves some poor hapless soul like myself who has spent a great deal of time trying to figure out the complexities of her interconnected characters.;-)

Edna Thanks for setting this up, it's very helpful. I just read No True Gentleman but now I'm planning to go through the others. I'll probably read according to the first list to avoid spoilers but the second with all the family groupings is also quite informative, thank you.

willaful Her most recent books should be added: Tempted All Night and Wicked All Day. They feature children of characters from the earlier books.

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 77 comments I added them to the list. Thanks for pointing that out Willaful. It' been so long since I read a Liz Carlyle novel that I haven't visited this post in a while. I love her books and hope I can find the time to get back to them soon.:-)
