Rdonn The Man on a Donkey A Chronicle
H.F.M. Prescott was an outstanding scholar of the Tudor period, especially Mary Tudor. This is fiction set in the period when Henry VIII was getting rid of the Church and anyone who stood in his way in order to marry Anne Boleyn. It is an outstanding book. Prescott is so immersed in this period, you feel she was there. All her books are fascinating.

Rdonn I'll be interested to hear from someone who read "Man on a Donkey". I lived in England many years, and one time while traveling put Marrick Priory on my list to visit. It is a real place that is important in the story. As I sat on a wall drinking in the site - a ruin - meditating on the past, a large group of young people burst out of an attached building laughing and yelling. I found out it is now either a youth hostel or a conference center. It rather broke the mood, though I'm glad it's being used. It is a lovely, quiet place in the Dales. Ruth

Jennifer (jennifertudor) | 951 comments How I wish I could be sitting on a wall in England... any wall would do... lol

That sounds like a nice time Ruth, although I can see how the students would certainly have put a damper on things :)
