Melissa (mcounts) We should get some more discussions going about these books.
So how about, which power or ability do you find the most fascinating out of any of the characters in SOT?

Literary Demon (literarydemon) | 12 comments I liked the way Richard could make the sword of truth white and only kill his enemies while sparing his friends, the fact that it couldn't break and could cut through near everything.. Also love the Mriswith cape..
Or the Sliph.. wait those aren't powers but cool items..
I think I liked Jagangs ability to enter your mind and control you.. thats a very powerful ability. If he wasn't so arrogant and cruel he could have been invincible..

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments I always loved how Gratch could sense the Mriswith, then consequently go ape nuts on them.
The Mord-Sith and their Agiel were pretty awesome, also the way the D'Haran bond worked so they would alaways know at least the direction in which he was. Cara always knew Richard was alive as long as her Agiel worked.

Melissa (mcounts) I think the whole concept of the Sliph is the most intriguing, in that it can basically teleport you anywhere and that you breathe in its quicksilver instead of air in order to travel in it but at the same time it is like a rapture for the person and if you don't breathe out the silver when it's done then you would drownd inside of it.

I also like wizards ability to heal as if nothing ever happened to the person.
The cool thing about the SOT I think is that it will only strike at things that are a threat. If in your heart you see your object as innocent than the sword will not harm it.

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments Just got done with Naked Empire. Awesome as usual!!! The SOT only gets cooler each and every book. Wizards 8th rule is pretty good too. Gotta like how the sword knows the intent of the one who has it.

Elisabeth (esfollman) | 9 comments definitely the sliph. everything is great - from the way she talks, to how she was made, to how she works - I just thought it was really cool.

Cody (snakewind) | 14 comments Ya. Its a great book. I can't wait for Terry's new novel of Richard & Kahlan. I feel like it coming until another year, blah.. lol I'm sure he's writing right now.

Beth (ebeinke) | 1 comments W00t! I'm so excited now! :)

message 11: by Missie (new)

Missie (sykin) WOW! I'm so glad there's another coming! I felt that their story wasn't finished at all. I just finished reading Confessor last night and I felt kind of let down.

The coolest power, I think, is the sliph. I know it's not really a power, but as soon as that was introduced to the series, I was captivated. I love the idea of it!

Amber (ivorydoom) | 53 comments I really like the Dakra, its a very awesome weapon, but then again, I guess that would also qualify as an item.

I also like how Shota can change her appearance and use that to get people to do her bidding.

I thought it was REALLY unique and also enjoyed this aspect of Terry's novels quite a lot. I thought Mord Sith were pretty amazing as well.

I'd have to agree. It's not unique in fantasy for someone to be able to make people do things, but to force this kind of permanent blind devotion (to the point where a person touched by her power would die when she dies)- that's new.

Josh (jemnbuckeye) | 5 comments I thought that the dream walker ability could have been more powerful. If you can slip into someones head, know everything they know, then use it to your advantage, you could rule the world with your advance knowledge. You could instantly understand all the limitations of magic, or anything, by slipping into the mind of an expert. I thought that the best and most well kept thing was the balance. additive magic and subtractive magic, and all of that were really well kept and mind blowingly awesome.

message 16: by Matthew (new)

Matthew | 5 comments I think the most intriguing power was Merritt's Power to create weapons out of people.

message 17: by Jaron (new)

Jaron | 2 comments Is it cheesy that I think Richards ability to build relationships with creatures and people in a way that always ends up mutually benefiting all parties. That and the efficient way he uses logic and common sense to influence people....I try putting that into practice in my own life...Lot of good lessons in these books I thought.

I loved that as well. It's not really "power" unless you consider character and personality to be "power." That would be a pretty deep way of looking at it; Mr. Goodkind would approve since he says we shouldn't focus so much on magic when reading his works.

Stevie (pandorasbox_aka_confessor) | 14 comments I'm torn between the dreamwalkers power and nicci they are both strong and intriguing and can wreak hell muahahah!

message 20: by Hollieann (new)

Hollieann | 7 comments I loved the Confessors power - theres something beautiful but deadly about it. The fact that the Confessor has to keep a leash on her power too shows how caring that person is.

Time was hers.
