The other thing I didn't like is that the glasses make everything a little darker. So movies like Alice and Avatar where it's all about vibrant color are dulled because of the glasses.

okay... interesting. Because I am used to things flying at me, or like w/ HP, I would imagine riding a broom in 3D would make me sick.

I saw Avatar in 2D and it was good, and I wanted to se it in 3D, but it was just so long! I didn't think I could sit through it again.

LoL! One of my friends went and saw Avatar nine times in the theater (twice in IMAX 3D and four times in reg 3D, then the rest in 2D because his wife refused to let him pay for 3D again). My husband and I went once and wish we had gone a couple more times. We bought the dvd the day it came out.

Oh, that is hilarious! I want to see Avatar so bad! I think I heard something about the theatre here bringing it back to IMAX this summer. I don't know if it's true but I would love to see it in 3D!

I watched Avatar first in 2D and then I realized that it would look a lot better in IMAX 3D so I watched it a second time. I agree that Avatar is one of the movies that is really better in 3D. How To Train Your Dragon is another one. I haven't watched anything else in 3D.

The problem is that more and more movies are shot in 2D and then put through a filter in post-production to make them psuedo-3D. There's a lot of controversy about it in the filmmaking industry, because it really isn't the same. There's an art to shooting a movie in true 3D and that artistry shows in the final product. Putting a 2D movie through a filter in the editing bay and then charging everybody more for it is kind of a scam!

I believe that the movies shot in 2D then processed to 3D should have a disclaimer. I had heard that Clash of the Titans was done this way. Avatar was filmed in 3D and meant to be watched in 3D. I resent having to pay extra money for those glasses. (which I don't get to keep).

Right? That's because of the filter. It wasn't actually shot in 3D and it showed.

Well I tried. I really did. I'd like to point out that you BOTH added to it. Oh and I figured out why the Rangers Apprentice book is weird - at times it reads like a childs tv show.

"He did know what was behind him. He did not think to turn around. He was very unhappy."

Those lines aren't in the book, but that's what they're like.

No, no, no. The story is really good though. I'm leaning towards 4 stars. It kind of reminds of the good parts of The Thief. Read it!

You should listen to it instead. The narrator, John Flanagan is great. I'm really enjoying it because I don't have to read it. I'm way too much of an editor for my own good.

My name is Adrienne and I started reading YA when I started borrowing my 13yo's books. I read the Twilight series, then a bunch of other girl-meets-supernatural-cute-dude books (my favorite was Shiver),love Harry Potter series, reading Percy Jackson series, read Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series, and plan to read Hunger Games once I have a lot of free time, because I'm sure it will consume all of my waking moments.

Oh, welcome, Adrienne. I like very much Percy Jackson, I love Mythology, I just bought the last book of the series.

I actually saw HTTYD twice - most recently at the "cheapie" theatre, so it may still be out! Loved it even more the second time. :)

Laura, I liked Shiver! I liked it as much as I liked Lament. I was actually not looking forward to reading the sequel, Linger, because I liked where Shiver ended. But I've read a couple of reviews that felt the same way about Shiver but still ended up liking Linger so now I'm looking forward to reading it. (Sorry, off topic again)
